I had 13/16GB available on my Nexus 5. And now I have 18/32GB available on my 6P. My storage doubles and I only get 5GB more?
What is system data? Why can't I see it (it shows up nowhere, I just have less space available without actually seeing what's using up that space)
Having problem seeing the storage after plugging into PC? adb command works and device drivers installed. Found another forum where turning the usb from MTP to charging and back under developer options does the trick. I have a non stock ROM and seeing if fresh out of the box experiences the same thing.

New Nexus 6p, latest OTA upgrade. Tried saving a file from an email attachment on Gmail app, the system asked me if I wanted to allow storage access permissions, I said yes, and another popup message said:
Screen overlay detected
To change this permission setting, you first have to turn off the screen overlay from Settings > Apps
When I go to these settings it shows the setting (YES or No) for each individual app. Gmail wasn't in the list of apps.
I saw the cm website had a new cm13 nightly for angler, so I decided to try it out, so I downloaded it and gapps, and rebooted into twrp, then I wiped everything besides for internal storage and then I proceeded to Install cm, it took a few minutes, and then when it was done I rebooted. The first sign of something weird was that after the regular your device can't be checked for corruption message it went black and then said that my device is corrupt in red letters, then it started the cm boot animation, I waited about 5 minutes and nothing happened so I rebooted into recovery and it asked me for an encryption password...
My device was not previously encrypted and I didn't require a password to Install cm, so I tried wiping everything besides for internal storage, and then I was about to flash again, but non of my files were there so I had nothing to flash.... So I rebooted into my bootloader and fastbooted stock and now I'm on stock, but all my files and backups are gone. I guess that's why it's good to have an external sd, because that never got wiped by installing a rom before, and if I would have one, I would have all my pictures, music, and app backups. But now I have to start from scratch all because I tried a new build cyanogen mod
I have the 128GB model and I was transferring 32GB worth of music over to my 6P and before it completed I was getting warnings that files couldn't be copied. I stopped it and then looked at the phone on my PC and it was saying it's size was 24.1 GB. It shows the same thing when I look at the storage on the phone. What happened?

What can I do to fix this?

I just finished installing CM13 on my Nexus 6P, but realised I'd downloaded the wrong GApps, so booted up into CM13 (Worked fine) and then downloaded the newest GApps into internal storage (Which was NOT empty when I connected over USB to my PC) yet when I went to flash the new GApps, TWRP tells me that I have nothing in my internal storage folder. I'm confused as to how that could happen.

Though I've hit a few bumps, I don't expect to waste money on other flagships again.I don't need to be able to right this instant, but wiping cache is one of my regular troubleshooting tools. Upon troubleshooting an MMS issue I was having, I discovered my recovery wasn't working properly. Though I fixed the MMS issue by resetting APN settings, the recovery thing has been bothering me.
I am running stock and locked. I have done nothing to this phone to warrant it being my fault. The problem is simple (and a Google search indicated, common). When you get to Recovery, you get a droid on its back, a red exclamation mark and "NO COMMAND". Doesn't matter if you hold up and power, tap up, or get there from the bootloader. The recovery software is seemingly missing completely.
I had to restore my phone to stock last night by manually flashing the 6P image from Google's Nexus page. I noticed that the storage now shows as 32GB instead of 64GB total. How to fix this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI own a Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, and I just bought it less than a month ago. A peculiar thing happened to me today- my phone (or my SD card) simply decided to "forget" all the stuff that I had saved on it (on the SD card), more precisely, copied from another phone and from the laptop. It erased ONLY the things I saved there (my music and pictures from my laptop and my previous phone, and probably other stuff that I don't even remember I had on it). All the folders that the phone itself created on my SD card (camera pictures, Bluetooth, downloads, folders linked to apps like other camera apps and so on) stayed untouched. I first noticed that something strange was going on when I connected my Xperia Neo to my laptop in order to copy some music to it. When I opened the folder I created on the card, only some of the data was there, not all of it. I disconnected the phone, and unmounted the SD card, took it out, and then put it back in, I think I did this more than once. When I put it back in, the thing mentioned in the beginning happened- all the stuff that I put there was gone. I checked the card once more by putting it in my laptop, and there it was, half-empty. Does anybody know what the problem could be? I'm confused because of the arbitrariness (I don't know what else should I call it) of the items removed. I thought I accidentally touched the "Erase SD card" option, instead of Unmount SD card, but then it would erase ALL the content on it, wouldn't it? I just wanted to check if anybody had a similar problem and could just explain to me what happened, I am aware that I will not get my music and pictures and other files back, I simply cannot understand how this is possible. No other problems with the phone, except for my display turning on/off on its own, but I thing I got that fixed with Automatic Task Killer app.

I know for sure there was a full sentence before the "it" (saw it on the sender's phone), and that didn't include any weird character/emoji.
My phone's a Moto X 2nd gen (bought on november 2014) running Android 5.0 (lollipop). My carrier's T-Mobile.
I've tried to update to 2.1 twice (once via PC Companion and once via SE Update Service) but have had problems with the new 2.1 after each attempt. Part of contacts list was missing even after backing up data. Font display is noticeably larger. Words on various apps are cut off. Also lost the user guides. Is it possible for me to revert back to 1.6? How to try and successfully install 2.1?

I notice the new part number is 99HKE002-01 XH, while the number on my defective phone ended in 00 F. Just curious, but do you think there has already been a hardware revision to the N1?
I bought this 16gb nexus 5 D820 a little over 2 months ago and had no problems with it whatsoever until this noon, when i was just browsing the 'net as usual, my phone became warm, i thought it was normal since i checked cpu-z it said it was 45 degrees and normal, cool..i kept on browsing till it rebooted by itself twice, still no problem,cool. since it was running low on battery i charged it and upon finishing the screen looks like this now, apart from it, everything else still works though.
I thought it was software issue since i didn't crack the screen, nor did i drop it, i was on purity + hellscore then. i flashed google factory image, unroot it and locked the bootloader again making it look as if it was just taken out of the box, but to no avail, it still looks like this up until now. I guess the heat somehow broke the lcd's component..
Well I'm back at it again. Always had a problem of phone shutting off and entering qhdbootloader 9008 (however it goes) and I just run the boarddiag tool but this time its not that far. Well whenever it does that I also have to reflash system but now when I try to flash a rom, it gets to the installing system part in twrp and hangs, then reboots at the google logo until I enter recovery again. Aka I cant flash a rom, hangs and reboots at the installing system portion

When I plug in my Android Nexus 5, I keep getting a message popping up on my computer that says: "Can't access device storage: if your devices screen is locked, disconnect the USB cable, unlock your screen, and then reconnect the USB cable." I have tried this answer without success many times. How do I access and update my music collection from my laptop?? (I have a 2008 Apple MacBook Pro). Is there another way to update my music via internet, or any other method that does not require direct connection?

Already turned off USB debugging, changed MTP and back, reinstalled the latest ADB drivers, removed the ADB drivers completely and no cigar.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo as the subject says, somehow my internal storage moved to a different location in my phone. It moved from storage/emulated/0 to data/media/0 somehow. I don't know how but now my apps and file managers are unable to access my internal storage and I am unable to download anything from my browser. My nexus 5 is rooted with Android 6.0 and has experimentalx kernel with xposed. Other than that, my nexus 5 is stock. I tried using root browser and solid browser to move my internal storage back to the correct place but that just gives me an error. I also tried using Android commander to move my storage using my pc but it's giving me permission denied. So I don't know what to do.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen i click on setting there is a storage & USB atab under device which I click on. When I do this, no internal storage is available in order for me to click on MTP. When I click on the three dots it says Help and Feedback. The phone is not locked. I am tethering my phone to my computer.
My goal is to transfer pictures from my phone to my computer via tethering but I cannot locate the internal storage in order to click on MTP.
So for weeks I've been dealing with a low storage space issue on my N5. I've been hovering at about 500MB of free space. I delete some photos, some cached data, etc., and get some more breathing room for awhile. (An aside: there's a specific app that is using way too much data storage and the amount keeps going up and up; I'm trying to resolve that issue without deleting the app.)
Occasionally I've received the system alerts about no new voicemail downloads, possibly no new message downloads, etc. I'll clear some space and those alerts go away and everything continues to seem to work fine.
This morning I got the low storage space alert(s), deleted some stuff, eventually got a handful of new email notifications, but for the past 6+ hours I've received no new txt messages (I use Messenger app for sms). I currently have 553MB of free space, I'm getting email notifications, and txt messages I send out are successfully received.
How do I resolve this? My N5 is unrooted. I've tried leaving it off for awhile, and have obviously rebooted it. Could this just be some network issue? (I'm on tmobile.)
(btw, I somewhat recently backed up and deleted a bunch of sms/mms messages, so there's only about 8000 currently on my phone, taking up about 165MB of space.)
I went to transfer some files from my PC the other day for the first time on my nexus, and the drivers installed fine. When I searched for my device under 'my PC' it wouldn't appear. I tried switching between media and storage, disconnecting and reconnecting, switching USB ports. Nothing worked.
