The feature to use the Razr M as a Mass Storage device when connected to a computer is missing in the Android 4.1.1 (JB) update. This feature is very important to me as a Linux user. This feature was present when I purchased the phone and Android 4.0.4 (ICS). The Motorola help pages also make reference to the Mass Storage option for USB connections.
View 13 RepliesI dont get when we're told about an upgrade, that you find it acceptable to TAKE AWAY features? i have been choosing Android over Apple for years for things such as USB Mass Storage mode. I know people who plug their phones in USB to their car CD Players and use it as if it were a flash drive. Now those users who may just have purchased a new phone are now screwed. You add features for upgrades not remove them. I am shocked and truthfully appualed to see where this new type of developer planning can lead to. Next were going to get pushed onto the cloud. If I'm going to remain an Android enthusiast and recommend Android to others you will not take away the things that brought me to Android! I could seriously put my Env touch before ever getting the FIRST OG Droid in Mass Storage Mode.This is not being posted to ruffle the feathers of users on this forum. This is intended as a wake up call to the developers to realize it was us phone enthusiasts that started this smart phone revolution anyways. We ousted Blackberry when they started acting like a bunch of tools. Don't do the same.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have the phone connected to Windows (XP) and I can't disconnect it as a mass storage device from the phone.. I pull the drop-down down and tap "Connected as mass storage" and then try to uncheck Mass Storage... and nothing happens. Wonderful. I guess I have to disconnect through Windows or just rip the cable out of the computer; now I feel safer.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI had the number changed on my phone. Everyting worked until then. I can connect in all modes except for USB Mass Storage. I have updated my drivers, enabled USB debugging, etc. It works on another Windows 7 computer, but not on my main laptop. No matter what I do, it will not find the Mass Storage drivers. Everything else works great. I have to run in Mass Storage mode to get to some files for a work app.
View 8 Replies View RelatedEverytime I connect my Droid3 to the computer my Droid Pulls pictures and music FROM my PC and puts it on the phone. Sometimes it will pull All of my pictures, and sometimes it randomly selects 2 or 3 HUNDRED of them. I recently decided to add some music to my phone and as I was creating my "playlist" to sync to my droid, I noticed that something was happening. Before I even hit sync, my phone pulled ALL of the music off my computer and stored it on my phone.
I have tried to delete the pictures by going into the file on the computer and I get half way through when it locks up. I have to delete EACH picture.
I have gone to the Verizon Store, they have never heard of this happening. They did a reset, which thrilled me because I lost all of my ringtones and downloaded apps. It also erased all the personalized ringtones I had set.
My Bionic is connected to my Exchange Server @ my Firm. My Firm requires Device/Storage Encryption, which the Bionic supports just fine. Now that our phones/SD cards are encrypted when the phone is connected to a PC and the SD card mounted the pics are no longer readable because they are encrypted. Windows is unable to read them, if I email that pic from my phone to my gmail I can open it just fine. If I try to open it direct from the SD its a NO GO. I already ruled out that its my PC I tried 5 other including my personal PC at home...NO GO! So how to I access the pictures direct off the SD?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI've run into a bit of a problem, as have MANY Photon 4G owners have as well.since mounting my Electrify as a USB mass storage device (the two "MOT" drives pop up in explorer), now the internal storage (which is where everything is) comes up as an unreadable drive.It mounted fine when I got it, then stopped working, then worked for a day, now it doesn't work.I've tried uninstalling drivers, taking out the battery, SD card, etc etc.

Before i've done this without any problems but now whenever i plug my droid into my computer the option that appears is the task bar that says USB mass storage, Charge only, etc. is gone and no computer i plug it into recognizes the phone. I've tried multiple cords and tried downloading different things for my computer to fix it that i've seen on other forum posts and it never works.
Whenever it plugs into a computer it charges it but that is it. I've turned on USB Debugging or whatever and that doesn't help either. It used to work fine and now it doens't,

I have the Droid 3 and I want to get rid of it. The deal breaker is the way that motorola has the internal storage partitioned and it seems they arent going to fix it. Does the razr have it partitioned so you can only use 2 gigs of internal space max for apps? If it does then I will pass on the Razr.

They then killed Activesync support completely later the same day (Yeah, I know... why even roll the security policy?). Even after removing the Activesync acct, the video change has not reverted. Anyone know (hopefully short of a complete reinstall) of a way to completely revert Activesync security changes?

I only watched a couple of the pictures while they being taken, but everything seemed to be working fine. Picture showed up after being taken.

We need to be able to disable all apps that is safe to do so. Cause the three that I mention here are running all the time and I don't even use them. I've stopped them and there already running again. At least make these 3 so that they can be disabled.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI was running short of space on my MicroSDHC card. I had about 1.5 gigs of storage left on the card. I went to take a video and noticed that I could only take a video in DVD quality or worse. There was no longer an option to take video in 780p or HD+ (1080p). I thought that happened because I didn't have much space left on my SD card. I later purchased a 32G Sandisk MicroSDHC. I thought that I would get back my HD and HD+ video options back after I installed the new card. This did not happen. I no longer can take HD+ video anymore. My settings in the video record mode no longer list HDor HD+. how to get the HD settings back? I tried clearing the cache and data in the camera app, but that didn't help.

When I activated the phone for her I discovered there is no toggle option to move any Apps from internal storage to the SD Card. This is usually found by going to Settings-Manage Apps-Download-App Info as a toggle "Move to SD Card/Move to Internal Storage". I went to Motorola's chat and exhausted their knowledge base and was then directed to a phone support number. After talking with a level 1 and level 2 help persons, they synched into my wife's phone and then compared a Razr M on their end. They finally admitted that the move option does not appear in the Razr M version of ICS. This is a critical omission considering the limited size of the Razr M internal storage.I was told by the level 2 that there might be Apps available to fix the problem. I tried App2SD but found it directed me back to the missing toggle.Is this true of all Razr M phones or is it a bug in the software of only a few? In either case, is there a service patch available to correct it?

I had a samsung charge that had this feature and it was great option. When you are getting emails all day and calendar appointments notification showing up. It is easy to miss text messages notification.

They only way I can get my Razr Maxx to check for updates is to put it in Airplane mode, then turn on my wifi. Only then does the option to check for updates become available. If this is the only way I can check for an update, am I stuck waiting until either Verizon or Moto puts the update out for manual pulling of the update? I don't think it will get pushed to me while i'm on an extended network

They will not be back on the home screens automatically after exited from USB mass storage mode. I have to put them back by myself.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI know we are at the point that some of us are giving our reviews of ICS while the rest are waiting for their update to happen at all... but here are a few things missing that i have noticed..first, Task Manager. is it not needed at this point or did the assume we would just download one? i used mine instead of using a task killer ( i know i know that debate is an old one) but i miss having it on there.omeone else mentioned the "in pocket detection" was also gone. I used mine with and without it and never really saw it a difference. mine is in the otterbox holder most of the time, and in my pocket only off work. but its still gone.
the other is the3g only, which has already been discussed and told how to change it anyway. I downloaded the app which is an HTC thunderbolt app that was recomended on the droid news n guide app, but i cant tell you if it works lol.. im hardly ever in a 4g area.while there are a lot of good things in ICS and the fact that it looks so different does give you the "new phone feeling" i wonder why these were taken off.
Both Motorola & Verzion list this phone as having 16gbs of internal memory. When I go to the storage settings it only shows 8gbs with now only 2gbs available. Using a third party file app called Astro it also confirms only 8gbs of internal storage space.
