Is there a setting you can change so the screen lights up when notifications are received? At the moment my screen stays off and I get a sound or vibration if the phone is on silent.

I don't know if i just noticed now or what, but whenever i get a text message or facebook message, basically any notification, my screen wont turn on and display it. Just led blink + sound+ viberate. View 5 Replies View RelatedHad a Desire from Orange for a couple of months, one of the most annoying issues is that sometimes when I get a text, it doesn't register all the notifications when the phone is idle: I always get the notification sound / vibrate. Sometimes I don't get the flashing green led. Sometimes I don't get the message summary on the lock screen. So if I don't hear the message come in I often miss it. I'm constantly having to wake up/unlock the phone just to check the actual message app whic is a) really tedious and b) probably not doing much for battery life. When I say sometimes, it's probably about 10% of the time, and one or other or both problems can occurr. I can't find any correlation other than having the messages app active when the phone sleeps *may* exacerbate it, but I'm not totally sure and it definitely does happen when the app is not running too.

Where it once showed the app's symbol/icon in the top corner (nice and small and JUST the symbol) so I knew I had a message or something, there's nothing. I can only see them if I allow my notifications to show largely in the middle of the screen. Unlike the symbol, this is smack dab in the middle and not only shows who the message is from but what it says. I'd rather not let anyone see my personal messages. I have a GS6 stock for AT&T. Every time I get a notification, my screen lights up. When I had my HTC m9, the screen never woke up besides for calls. It's really annoying having the screen light up for any and all notifications.

When the screen is off, it seems like more often than not I don't receive an alert when I receive emails/FB updates. Only when I wake the screen up & swipe my fingerprint that "location" shows up & I suddenly get my alert notification sound that I have email. Kind of useless since I have to open up my device to see if I have any notifications.
I honestly think this has SOMETHING to do with Location services, but not sure.
When I'm on YouTube watching fullscreen, or a local video stored in memory, watching photos, or even playing a game. Notifications ALWAYS appear in the upper side. You can see there text, sound, plus it vibrates. I think there is something in my phone (I dont know if it is specific-carrier Android related, Claro Perú) but it doesnt really go fullscreen EVER, so it makes notificacionts appear everywhere all the time. Disabling notifications is not a solution as I need them. Do not disturb mode also wont hide the notification from appear, it just stops de sound and the vibration.

The very top notifications are fine, just don't need it plastered on the lock screen, how to turn off that while still having the little icon notifications on top?
So I updated to lollipop on Verizon S5 the other day and I thought at first it asked if I wanted my notifications to turn lock screen on, but then after turning notifications off and using a different lock screen for a bit, I went back to stock lollipop lock screen and now none of my notifications turn the lock screen on. Does notifications turn the lock screen on so you can see them? If so, where the setting is to choose this as I can not seem to find it anywhere on the phone in any settings?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI no longer see a "card" for my text notifications on my lock screen after the lollipop upgrade on my Galaxy S5.
I get the status "notification bar" (see attached screenshot), but I want the "card" (like the "New voice mail" card in the screenshot) to appear on my lock screen - I don't want to have to tap the "notification bar" for the rest of my notifications. Hopefully I'm just missing a setting, and this is not the expected behavior....
Here's what I've tried (and what my settings are):
1) Lock Screen/Screen Lock is set to swipe.
2) Sounds and Notification/While Locked is set to "Show All Content".
3) Applications/Messages/Notifications/Preview Message is checked.
4) Applications/ApplicationManager/Messages -> Show notifications is checked.
5) I have cleared the cache for Messages Application.
6) I have done a cache partition wipe.
So when my s6 is charging it will light up and not turn off by itself. It is dim, but it is always lite up. Is there a way to have it off while charging while not turning it off completely and having to click the side button every time a notification pops up? Shouldnt it just go black by itself after a couple second just like it does when its not plugged in?
