Galaxy S6 :: Notifications Not Working When Screen Is Sleeping?
Jun 7, 2015
I have notification sounds turned on for various APPS (e.g., email, FB). When the screen is off, it seems like more often than not I don't receive an alert when I receive emails/FB updates. Only when I wake the screen up & swipe my fingerprint that "location" shows up & I suddenly get my alert notification sound that I have email. Kind of useless since I have to open up my device to see if I have any notifications.
I honestly think this has SOMETHING to do with Location services, but not sure.
I have certain apps "i.e. quick change keyboards", I like to have the notifications for it shown on my notification screen, but I do not want to see it on my lock screen. Other apps I DO want to see on the lock screen.
About a week or two ago i noticed a strange thing happening with my G4. I have a Circle case and when i close it, of course the phone goes in sleeping mode. Even though i went to settings and chose to have my wifi on even when the phone is sleeping, it just won't work. It works when my phone is charging but that's it.
why is Sleeping Screen not supported in nokia 500 belle? I downloaded on my 500, but not running properly. display is only shown for a second while unlocking. is it due to hardware restriction?
Somebody recommended to use Sleeping Screen from Nokia beta labs to get notfied of messages and emails - however, it doesn't show any notification for emails that arrived through mail for exchange/gmail on my X7 (which I'm using while my E6 is at Nokia Care to get the battery/notification light issues fixed). So even if it would work on the E6 (which it doesn't), it would not be a replacement for the improperly working notification light.
So for some reason when I try to set up notifications within Twitter's own app, it always gives me an error that it is unable to save my settings. The notifications work fine on my M8 but I've never been able to get them working on my S6 nor was I able to do so on my Note 4. Is that a Samsung issue? I end up missing important info sometimes just because I don't get notified.
I noticed this the other day that my Yahoo app randomly stopped receiving notifications. I never changed anything email or sync related for a long time so it makes this harder to solve. I dont even remember having sync on ever for my Yahoo emails (maybe this sounds stupid and it was on the whole time but I cant remember). Anyway I tried deleting the accounts and re-adding, using the default email app and adding the same accounts, clearing app date/caches, re-installing Yahoo app, clearing cache partition, and turning all the syncs on/off and playing with those settings. What I did notice was a suspicious log in a few days ago from out of state which I am not sure is part of this or not, but it was on android supposedly, I changed my PW just to be sure.
I have been having an issue with my twitter push notifications that is pretty maddening. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. For instance they always show in the twitter app when I get a new notification BUT the notification sound does not go off and it does not show in the phones notification bar like it used to (which is the most important part IMO). It does seem to work when certain people at me or DM me. Others it just does what I described above. I've tried revoking access, uninstall/reinstall, I have even tried resetting to the phone to factory settings.
Almost every application that utilizes push notifications ? Sometimes a reboot temporarily fixes it, or connecting to wifi make them all come in in an explosion. It seems to be worse when I am on LTE. I know it has nothing to do with the connection because my connection is great regardless, I think it is applications not having been updated for compatibility with this phone. I have had two other lollipop devices that worked fine, but this phone refuses to be cooperative on this.
gmail and other email clients notifications do not work after the phone has been unused for a while, I'm wondering if this at all is related to a deep sleep problem? Quite frustrating, have tried different email clients, some work and some don't, I'm at a loss here coming from the blackberry world where email is push and always works.
I always give my closest friends individual ringtones to separate them from all the other texts that I get. So I went to their contact info, added notification field and then changed their notification tone. But for some reason when they text me, they still come up as the default notification as like every other text does. Why can't I customize the text notifications by adding a different text notification to each of my contacts that I want a different notification tone for?
Is it possible for certain wifi networks to affect push notifications? For example, my notifications from USAToday come through on my home wifi network, but not on my work wifi network. However, the notifications came through on both networks just fine using my GS4.
I have a T-Mobile S6 and when I'm connected to WIFI, hangouts notifications do not get pushed. I have to manually open hangouts and all of the notifications come flooding in. Never see this issue with WIFI off.
I factory reset the phone after i used odin to flash factory rom. Installed latest ATT update. Setup google account and again put the phone on wireless charger, after 10 mins of no activity send myself emails from different accounts from the PC and No email notifications at all with just Mobile Network only turned on. I tested this with wired charging and the result is the same.
Test condition:
1. Charge phone, wired or wireless, only turn on Mobile network, no wifi!!! 2. Leave the phone untouched and idle for 10+ mins 3. during this time no txt or phone calls otherwise it will reset the sleep flag 4. after 10+ mins of no activity send yourself emails from a desktop or another phone. You should in theory get notifications but I'm willing to be you will not.
Can add third party notifications to the slots on Glance, I have just updated my 640 to W10M and I can no longer add them, WhatsApp for instance , when I add it from the list I just get a red cross in the box and notifications don't appear on the glance screen.
The core MS apps still work, phone, ski calendar etc. With double tap to wake absent on the 950 I'm going to have to reconsider upgrading if I can't have glance how I want it too, feels like a huge backward step, meanwhile ill have to go back to 8.1 ...
So i don't know what i did but all i know was that I picked it up off the floor after it fell out of my pocket when sitting down on the ground. And then i tried to click every button possible (home and lock) but it wasn't responding. So my friend decided to call it and I received the call but the screen stays black.
Ever since the new update I can't see notifications in my lock screen. Where it once showed the app's symbol/icon in the top corner (nice and small and JUST the symbol) so I knew I had a message or something, there's nothing. I can only see them if I allow my notifications to show largely in the middle of the screen. Unlike the symbol, this is smack dab in the middle and not only shows who the message is from but what it says. I'd rather not let anyone see my personal messages. Just a suggestion: make it possible to see our notification symbol in the top corner of the lock screen like before instead of the big notification in the middle, where everyone can see...
Is there a setting you can change so the screen lights up when notifications are received? At the moment my screen stays off and I get a sound or vibration if the phone is on silent.
I have a GS6 stock for AT&T. Every time I get a notification, my screen lights up. When I had my HTC m9, the screen never woke up besides for calls. It's really annoying having the screen light up for any and all notifications.
How to consolidate Facebook notifications on the lock screen, similar to the way the device clumps together notifications for email, texts, etc. How to not have Facebook on the lock screen but still show up in the notification center. All I seem to be able to find are ways to turn FB notifications on or off.
When I'm on YouTube watching fullscreen, or a local video stored in memory, watching photos, or even playing a game. Notifications ALWAYS appear in the upper side. You can see there text, sound, plus it vibrates. I think there is something in my phone (I dont know if it is specific-carrier Android related, Claro PerĂº) but it doesnt really go fullscreen EVER, so it makes notificacionts appear everywhere all the time. Disabling notifications is not a solution as I need them. Do not disturb mode also wont hide the notification from appear, it just stops de sound and the vibration.
What's the last update on the Samsung 5 went from loving my phone to hating it. 1 thing I hate is now I have stupid notifications right over the front of my lock screen. How to remove it and look through everything. Also now my internet crashes about every 5 minutes.
I'm wondering if the GS5 has lock screen notifications on Lollipop with the fingerprint security option on? I am unable to do so now on KitKat, and am not sure if I am able to on KitKat with or without the fingerprint reader. I'd like to keep my phone locked to keep people from accessing it, but would like to be able to glance / see any emails or texts I receive without having to unlock and pulling down the notification bar every time.
Any way to disable Gmail notifications on the lock screen? I don't really need to see Gmail notification there, I don't need to see more immediate communications, like texts.
Just updated to lollipop and I really don't like the lock screen when I get an email the big bar that shows up...I saw where I can turn it into secure content, but still, I hate that...my girl always sees the bar that I am getting emails and what not, regardless of if she can see the messages..
The very top notifications are fine, just don't need it plastered on the lock screen, how to turn off that while still having the little icon notifications on top?
So I updated to lollipop on Verizon S5 the other day and I thought at first it asked if I wanted my notifications to turn lock screen on, but then after turning notifications off and using a different lock screen for a bit, I went back to stock lollipop lock screen and now none of my notifications turn the lock screen on. Does notifications turn the lock screen on so you can see them? If so, where the setting is to choose this as I can not seem to find it anywhere on the phone in any settings?
My new galaxy s5 has the Lollipop update....my notifications don't show up on locked screen....In my settings I have it set to show up....I have did a hard reset and factory reset and it still doesn't work....
