Galaxy S6 :: Turning On Screen For Notifications?
Jun 8, 2015I can't see the forest through the trees. Is there a way to set my S6 so it turns on the display for each notification received?

View 2 Repliesjust picked up an S2 from sprint as a replacement for HTC Evo.Great phone all around, however i`m having one issue. HTC Sense UI has an option to preview messages(2lines) and missed calls right(who and time) on lock screen. This is really handy option with small kids around you dont have to unlock your phone.Since S2 is missing that I've downloaded Notify App which works great. However - I cannot turn off stock notifications - they still show up - so at this time I have to clear notifications twice - once in App and once in Notifications Bar. Is there a way of turning off stock notifications (without custom ROM)? On all other phones i had - there was an option to go to Settings Privacy and uncheck the notifications. This is missing on S2 - all i can see under privacy is Reset to Factory.I really like the phone and how smooth it is. At this point i really dont want to do a custom ROM (`ill root it if need it)
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have certain apps "i.e. quick change keyboards", I like to have the notifications for it shown on my notification screen, but I do not want to see it on my lock screen. Other apps I DO want to see on the lock screen.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI did not update to lollipop so that can't be the answer. My screen turns o.n itself when I don't have any notifications. Also, my sound changes itself from silent, to vibrate and ring all by itself.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen it is sat in standby and i recieve a text, the screen lights up as usual for a few seconds then dims to turn off again but doesnt turn off, causing my screen to stay on and the phone to run flat in under 4 hours. If I try to use the lock button when this is happening the phone will freeze.
I have also updated to the latest version to try and stop this but it didnt help.
This just recently started happening. On and off over and over. I turn it off, it turns back on.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy screen turns off every time I use the power button to turn it on and then place my finger to unlock it, I then need to turn it on again and unlock it. This happened almost every time I open it, usually I need to unlock it again after it turns off but sometimes when I turn on the screen the phone is already unlocked.

View 2 Replies View RelatedEver since the new update I can't see notifications in my lock screen. Where it once showed the app's symbol/icon in the top corner (nice and small and JUST the symbol) so I knew I had a message or something, there's nothing. I can only see them if I allow my notifications to show largely in the middle of the screen. Unlike the symbol, this is smack dab in the middle and not only shows who the message is from but what it says. I'd rather not let anyone see my personal messages. Just a suggestion: make it possible to see our notification symbol in the top corner of the lock screen like before instead of the big notification in the middle, where everyone can see...

View 1 Replies View RelatedI like that the home button quickly turns the S5's screen on to the lock screen to check the time or for notifications, but unfortunately hitting the home button again doesn't turn the screen back off and I have to reach for the power button. Is there a way to change that?
View 21 Replies View RelatedI have had my S5 for about a month or two now and have been having a problem with the screen waking in my pocket. I'm guessing the home or power button is being pressed which is fine but I need the screen to turn back off in a reasonable amount of time. There is a setting called "Screen timeout" but no "Lock screen timeout" like I used to have on my S3. Maybe I'm missing something but it seems like both the screen timeout and the lock screen timeout are both controlled by this one setting. Just about every 20 minutes I feel my pocket getting hot and sure enough, the screen has been on for who knows how long.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there a setting you can change so the screen lights up when notifications are received? At the moment my screen stays off and I get a sound or vibration if the phone is on silent.
View 3 Replies View RelatedHave to say I'm loving my new edge, so many more options than I phoned!
However, how do I turn notifications off telling me I gave taken a screen shot?
I have a GS6 stock for AT&T. Every time I get a notification, my screen lights up. When I had my HTC m9, the screen never woke up besides for calls. It's really annoying having the screen light up for any and all notifications.
View 20 Replies View RelatedHow to consolidate Facebook notifications on the lock screen, similar to the way the device clumps together notifications for email, texts, etc. How to not have Facebook on the lock screen but still show up in the notification center. All I seem to be able to find are ways to turn FB notifications on or off.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have notification sounds turned on for various APPS (e.g., email, FB). When the screen is off, it seems like more often than not I don't receive an alert when I receive emails/FB updates. Only when I wake the screen up & swipe my fingerprint that "location" shows up & I suddenly get my alert notification sound that I have email. Kind of useless since I have to open up my device to see if I have any notifications.
I honestly think this has SOMETHING to do with Location services, but not sure.
When I'm on YouTube watching fullscreen, or a local video stored in memory, watching photos, or even playing a game. Notifications ALWAYS appear in the upper side. You can see there text, sound, plus it vibrates. I think there is something in my phone (I dont know if it is specific-carrier Android related, Claro PerĂº) but it doesnt really go fullscreen EVER, so it makes notificacionts appear everywhere all the time. Disabling notifications is not a solution as I need them. Do not disturb mode also wont hide the notification from appear, it just stops de sound and the vibration.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhat's the last update on the Samsung 5 went from loving my phone to hating it. 1 thing I hate is now I have stupid notifications right over the front of my lock screen. How to remove it and look through everything. Also now my internet crashes about every 5 minutes.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm wondering if the GS5 has lock screen notifications on Lollipop with the fingerprint security option on? I am unable to do so now on KitKat, and am not sure if I am able to on KitKat with or without the fingerprint reader. I'd like to keep my phone locked to keep people from accessing it, but would like to be able to glance / see any emails or texts I receive without having to unlock and pulling down the notification bar every time.
View 8 Replies View RelatedEvery the lock button is pressed the screen turns back on by itself after a few seconds. The same thing happens when the phone is left to timeout. This started occurring after I left my phone to charge overnight and it hasn't stopped since. I've tried running it in safe mode, but the problem still occurs. I have also tried factory resetting, clearing cache, and a simple restart.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a 6 month old Galaxy S5 on Verizon, and in the past month I've had a problem where I will press the home button to turn the screen on and there will be a delay of up to 4 seconds before the screen lights up and I can unlock. Oftentimes, the delay is so long that the phone turns the screen back off from inactivity a split second after it finally comes on.
If I am actively using the phone, and then turn the screen off and right back on, there is no delay. It's only after turning back on after several minutes of inactivity (which is most of the time). It's almost as if the phone has put itself to sleep and is taking a long time to wake.I am on Android 4.4.4. If it matters, I also get the camera-daemon battery suck issue from time to time.
Any way to disable Gmail notifications on the lock screen? I don't really need to see Gmail notification there, I don't need to see more immediate communications, like texts.
View 4 Replies View RelatedJust updated to lollipop and I really don't like the lock screen when I get an email the big bar that shows up...I saw where I can turn it into secure content, but still, I hate that...my girl always sees the bar that I am getting emails and what not, regardless of if she can see the messages..
The very top notifications are fine, just don't need it plastered on the lock screen, how to turn off that while still having the little icon notifications on top?
So I updated to lollipop on Verizon S5 the other day and I thought at first it asked if I wanted my notifications to turn lock screen on, but then after turning notifications off and using a different lock screen for a bit, I went back to stock lollipop lock screen and now none of my notifications turn the lock screen on. Does notifications turn the lock screen on so you can see them? If so, where the setting is to choose this as I can not seem to find it anywhere on the phone in any settings?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI went into messaging then settings and checked preview message and it still doesn't do anything. this is really annoying.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy facebook app (not the facebook messenger) keeps turning the notifications off.
i like to keep it turned on for things like new friends requests, tags and comments on my wall.
i am not sure when this happens, because when i turn them on they stay on for the immediate future but after a few days when i fail to be notified by this app i check again to find out they have been turned off again.
My new galaxy s5 has the Lollipop update....my notifications don't show up on locked screen....In my settings I have it set to show up....I have did a hard reset and factory reset and it still doesn't work....
