Any way to disable Gmail notifications on the lock screen? I don't really need to see Gmail notification there, I don't need to see more immediate communications, like texts.
View 4 RepliesI got my 950 xl yesterday and have been having fun setting it up. Fairly new to Windows phone, so a few settings I'm still looking for. Have spent a few weeks reading this forum in prep, so am fairly up to speed with most things/issues to expect - for example my update to .29 got stuck yesterday, with low on space messages popping up, but i found a thread on here which said to plug my phone in and leave it and it eventually installed fine :)
My Glance was set to 15mins, but was always on, so now i set it to 30 seconds and it seems to like this setting. I'm missing Quiet Hrs setting, but I understand this will prob come back in a later update. Hoping the double tap to wake will come back at some point (I experimented with a 640 over the last two weeks and loved that feature). I would also like to disable vibrate on the navigation buttons, but I dont this is possible yet in Windows 10.
My question at the moment is - is there a way to disable toast notifications from apps when my phone screen is off, as at the moment the toast notification activates both the screen and Hello, which I don't think is particularly energy efficient. I still would like a toast notification when the screen is on. Is this possible?
I have certain apps "i.e. quick change keyboards", I like to have the notifications for it shown on my notification screen, but I do not want to see it on my lock screen. Other apps I DO want to see on the lock screen.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI activated the fingerprint lock. I don't the response so I tried to return the phone to no lock. When I go to the 'screen lock type' screen, it does not offer Swipe or None, they are there but in lightened font. just want to return the phone to no lock. I was able to remove the fingerprints but now the Screen Lock Type screen only offers pattern, pin, password or fingerprints. I want None...but it is in lightened font and says "Turned off by administrator, encryption policy or credential storage.

Where it once showed the app's symbol/icon in the top corner (nice and small and JUST the symbol) so I knew I had a message or something, there's nothing. I can only see them if I allow my notifications to show largely in the middle of the screen. Unlike the symbol, this is smack dab in the middle and not only shows who the message is from but what it says. I'd rather not let anyone see my personal messages. Just a suggestion: make it possible to see our notification symbol in the top corner of the lock screen like before instead of the big notification in the middle, where everyone can see...
View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to set my lockscreen wallpaper to a pure black one, but when I do, it is not actually black. I have read others on androidcentral having the same problems but have yet to find a solution.
Please see attached screenshot for the issue I am having. Note that the wallpaper used in that screenshot is 100% pure black, but appears grey.
If I change the screen lock to "swipe", it is pure black, but I prefer to have the security of the fingerprint...
My device IS ROOTED and I have xposed/custom ROM installed, and I am sure there must be a config file or something that I could modify to remove this tinting that is occurring.
How to consolidate Facebook notifications on the lock screen, similar to the way the device clumps together notifications for email, texts, etc. How to not have Facebook on the lock screen but still show up in the notification center. All I seem to be able to find are ways to turn FB notifications on or off.

I am unable to do so now on KitKat, and am not sure if I am able to on KitKat with or without the fingerprint reader. I'd like to keep my phone locked to keep people from accessing it, but would like to be able to glance / see any emails or texts I receive without having to unlock and pulling down the notification bar every time.

Yesterday the screen lock disabled by itself and no password was needed to get on phone. In addition, the Unlock effect "Water droplet" turned on.
The lock screen displays what appears to be a media player instead of the normal date & time - I've disabled all the media players on the phone .. but can't seem to figure out what the issue is?

The very top notifications are fine, just don't need it plastered on the lock screen, how to turn off that while still having the little icon notifications on top?
I went into messaging then settings and checked preview message and it still doesn't do anything. this is really annoying.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI no longer see a "card" for my text notifications on my lock screen after the lollipop upgrade on my Galaxy S5.
I get the status "notification bar" (see attached screenshot), but I want the "card" (like the "New voice mail" card in the screenshot) to appear on my lock screen - I don't want to have to tap the "notification bar" for the rest of my notifications. Hopefully I'm just missing a setting, and this is not the expected behavior....
Here's what I've tried (and what my settings are):
1) Lock Screen/Screen Lock is set to swipe.
2) Sounds and Notification/While Locked is set to "Show All Content".
3) Applications/Messages/Notifications/Preview Message is checked.
4) Applications/ApplicationManager/Messages -> Show notifications is checked.
5) I have cleared the cache for Messages Application.
6) I have done a cache partition wipe.
So i just got the s5 yestrday and i cant get my gmail notifications to pop up. auto sync is turned on, notifications are turned on

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I have 2 calendars, my personal gmail calendar, and my work (exchange) calendar. I like the gmail calendar to have a certain notification sound, and I like the work calendar to use another.
I also use Microsoft's Outlook app for my work email and calendar, and set those notification sounds how I want them.
What happens is if I have a work calendar notification popup, I get the right notification and sound from the Outlook app, but then I also get a notification and wrong sound (it uses the gmail calendar sound) from the Android calendar app.
I know I could just disable the work calendar within the Android calendar app, but I want it in there because I have a widget set up that shows my agenda from both my personal and work calendars. If I removed the work calendar, it would leave the widget.
So I don't know if all that was confusing or not, but here is what I want: Personal gmail account calendar notifications from Android calendar appWork exchange account calendar notifications from Outlook calendar app. Both personal gmail calendar and exchange calendar set up in Android calendar app so I can see them both in my agenda widget
What I don't want is when a work event occurs, is to get 2 notifications about it using 2 different notification sounds. I only want to be notified from the Outlook calendar app.
On my Galaxy S6 everytime I get a new email there is an email icon just below the notification panel. is there any way to turn this off? I already recieve a sound, and a pop up of the email, and there is an indicator of new email on my email icon on the home screen, so I don't need yet another notification.
Same situation with text messages. I would just like to disable the notifications that appear below the notification panel.
I've been enjoying my new Galaxy S6 for the past couple days but one thing I've noticed is that I'm not receiving any Gmail push notifications. I only ever notice new emails getting pulled in when I open the Gmail (or Inbox) app, and it executes a refresh now that the app is open. If I'm not using the app or my phone's screen is off -- nothing.
I've tried a number of different things, including making sure Power Saving mode is turned off and ensuring that auto sync is enabled for my Google account. I've also made sure that all the appropriate Gmail labels are set to notify me.
One thing I've noticed, in the process of discovery for my Gmail issues, is that when looking at my Google sync information on my phone, the "last synced at" time is usually very out of date.. sometimes it's a couple hours ago, sometimes it's a day ago. I'm wondering if my phone is for some reason just not polling on a regular, more reasonable interval.
FYI I'm getting push notifications from other apps (including Hangouts) as expected.
Not sure if this has already been addressed (surely it must have been!), but am trying to sort unread notifications for Gmail app. I am currently trying Notifyer Unread Count from Play Store. The Notifyer seems to be doing the trick with a fairly simple set up. Am just using the free version which doesn't have any ads but the payable version allows even greater customization like the icon etc.

The user's guide doesn't seem to mention the possibility of disabling that. I'm an intermediate cell phone user, have been using an SE K800i for years, don't know anything about Android but I'm curious about that (my first impression is that the phone isn't as user-friendly as the K800i, maybe it takes some time to get accustomed).

I'd like to be able to not have a screen lock on and have the clock still slide down from the top. Also, does one HAVE to have a Gmail account to use the phone? I'd like to not have to sign in with my gmail. I know it's Android based, but it should be an option to not use one?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently switched from iPhone and one thing that is bothering me about my android phone is the lock screen real estate. I have this big screen and 90% of the screen is taken by the clock and unlock feature. Notifications get a small band and stack on each other.
Problem being while I'm away if I get 3 text messages, a phone call, and some other alert all I see is a stack of notifications but I can't read them.
On the iphone if you turn the screen on you actually read what happened and decide right away if you care enough to unlock your phone and respond. With this new phone I always have to unlock to see what the notifications actually are about and if I care or not.
I have just moved from an iPhone 5 to an Xperia Z3. Is there any way that I can have ios style lock screen notifications on my Z3? For example; text messages, missed calls, emails etc. I just downloaded an Xperia theme from the play store which showed lock screen notifications on the picture, however after installing it turns out to be just a wallpaper. Not quite what i was looking for.
