Jul 12, 2015Is there a way to "save/backup" a fingerprint credential externally so that it can be used after a full factory reset?

View 2 Repliesi have an sms thread on my phone which is very long and is preventing me from being able to upgrade to the latest iOS due to the storage being used.
however it is really important evidence to be used in court next year and I cannot delete the thread or risk losing it.
i Haven't found any way of either sending these sms's to my email, or backing them up to iCloud or my laptop.
is the only solution to take a ton of screenshots of the messages and save them as photos? This would take literally hours!
I have a Samsung Galaxy S6, and for my unlock screen I use a pin. However, for some applications, I use a fingerprint unlock as well as a pin.
Recently, the scanner was unable to read my fingerprint so my phone disabled the fingerprint unlock option and came up with the notification "Enter backup password to verify fingerprint." I thought I remembered the right password, but apparently not, so I am unable to change or update my fingerprint at all.
From what I've read, a lot of people have problems on the lock screen, but my lock screen is fine since I use a pin, I just can't remember my backup password for my fingerprint. I've already tried Samsung's Find My Mobile, and I would really like to avoid doing a factory reset.
how I either reset my backup password or somehow change my fingerprint?
Got my new phone yesterday. Apparently I did the fingerprint set up but now it doesn't recognize my fingerprint and what the backup password is. I can change the regular access password but apparently that is different than the backup password needed for the fingerprint set up.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI can't seem unlock my device using fingerprint or backup password. The fingerprint animation isn't playing and doesn't recognise that I am swiping the home button.I have tried entering the backup password and it says I have entered it incorrectly when I am for certain entered it correctly.Changing keyboards doesn't fix this. Restarting the phone and removing the battery and SD card does not fix this.
I have previously registered for the Google Device Manager and have tried locking my phone, but that doesn't seem to work. Do I need to have an Internet connection or GPS on my phone to do that? If so, I can't connect to the internet or activate GPS due to it being locked. Is there any way around this?
I really don't want to factory reset my phone unless it's the only last option I have. And I have contacted Samsung support regarding this and am waiting for a reply. I will update if they have replied to my message.
Galaxy S6 Edge - get "unable to recognise your fingerprint" message - gives "Emergency Call" only option (why not "Backup Password" option) - trying to tap on Backup Password doesn't work on the "Power On" screen doesn't work and the "unable to recognise fingerprint" message pops up after about 5 seconds. I've tried tapping on the "Backup Password" option about every time - no luck. How can I access my device???
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy wife turned her Galaxy S5 on yesterday, slid her finger across the scanner to open the phone and it came up with the print not recognised message (as it has many times before). This time however, it did not allow her to scan her print again. the screen changed and asked her for a back up password, not a problem as she has done this a fair few times too, it just seemed strange that it only allowed one stroke of the scanner before asking for this. We have tried her back up password many times (and any other password we could think of) but the phone will not unlock, nor will it return to the normal lock screen and allow her to try her print again.
We have logged onto Android device manager and tried the lock screen hack (to obtain another password) but it just tells us that the screen is already locked so another password is not necessary.
It says that under password under screen lock is high security. I dont want to use a password on my phone anymore, its a samsung s5
View 1 Replies View RelatedFirstly I want you all to know I dont have any blackberry data plan. Also I am not using in Wi-Fi but normal cheap internet plan available from my carrier. My trackpad had some issue...I got my cell repaired.got all fresh with reloaded OS.

Now I was able to download all the apps from BB world. Now I thought of installing Nimbuzz(I wish I had not).Meanwhile installing It asked me to update some security, then it asked me to restart set.when i did I was not able install app from BB World.

So it appears, BB installs something which prevents to access the BB world from normal internet plan.I havent seen this mentioned in any post though it appears to be problem faced by millions.
strange question, but my school's WiFi network installs a credential which requires a lock screen. I like going without the lock screen, but if I disable the lock screen, when I disconnect from the network, I can't reconnect. Is there any way to fake it out get around it somehow? I also have a nexus 7 2013 and note 10.1 2014 with the same issue with no workaround.

I have an iPhone 6S and on the first setup of Touch ID; it works about 99.9% of the time! Not sure why the S6 is not working but I going to contact Samsung and see what they say! Not happy at all with the fingerprint scanner not functioning at all! Brand new phone too!
I spend about 2 hours and did all my fingers on my right hand and it just will not recognize any of them! I even clean my right hand with orange peel soap to get all the oils out of my hand and dry it with air until it was dry as can be but still no luck with the ID!
The one and ONLY thing I miss from my jail broken iphone 6, is the tweak I had installed that used the fingerprint scanner to sign me into apps, such as my banking, redbox, capitalone app, all apps not web browser based, is this possible on the S6? I've been looking and don't see the option ...

I am getting my phone repaired and don't want to share my texts with world but want to save them. I have actually been wanting to find a way to do this for some time as I keep getting memory full. There are some texts that I definitely want to save. I don't see the texts in phone tools when phone is disconneted from PC and I don't see a SMS option in the backup utlility.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am wondering if there is a way to back up EVERYTHING on my iPhone as well as my Missus iphone but save it all on an external hard drive. The reason for this is my phone recently died beyond repair and I seem to have not backed up my movies songs and apps, needless to say it was extremely annoying. On top of this I am hoping to set it up so it backs up both phones daily over wifi automatically.I have looked on the Internet and can't seem to find the answer I'm looking for.
Info:
iPhone 4S, iOS 5.1
A few months back I flashed xtrestolite to my g920i and have since flashed odex, deodex and several aroma versions in different combinations. Since the initial flash the scanner has not worked. Currently using the latest unikernal, though was using a different one when I first flashed. TWRP latest too.
When I try *#0* and try the sensor test I see "unfortunately, hwmoduletest has stopped working" lTrying to utilise the scanner will always show "an error has occurred with the fingerprint sensor, if this message appears repeatedly please restart your device" though restarting has never worked. I have not tried going back to stock as my carrier rom is 5.0.2 still.
Ever since i got my T Mobile Galaxy S6 Delivered a couple of days ago, the finger print scanner does not work. It keep displaying the message :
"Make sure that the home key is clean and dry, then try again"
Here is a video of the problem: [URL] ...
I bought the phone on Swappa, and the seller claims it never got wet.
I've been googling around and haven't found an answer on how the fingerprint data is stored on the phones and is it safe regardless of device encryption?
The S5 implementation of the data was horrible and Samsung is not to concerned it seems. At least Apple clearly outlines how and where the data is stored.
So, I've noticed lately after the AT&T update, when I use my fingerprint scanner to unlock, it opens my phome to a Chrome web page.... How to stop it?
View 17 Replies View RelatedSince short I have this new S6.I love the fingerprint authentication option.Every now and then though I get this message that an error has occurred in the fingerprint database. After this no fingerprints are recognized anymore and I'm forced to log in with the Backup password. After a reboot the issue seems gone, but then it returns after a while (period between seems to vary). I have four fingers entered in the database, that normally all four work correct.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI don't want to use the fingerprint scanner unlock on my Galaxy S6... how do I disable it?
View 17 Replies View RelatedI just made the switch from an iPhone to a Galaxy S6 yesterday and I couldn't be more excited, other than one problem. I have set up all four fingerprint options on the phone, and have set the screen lock type as fingerprints. When I lock the phone, however, the security option is just a swipe. I have already tried a soft reset and would prefer not to do a hard reset because I just finished uploading contacts and photos. I have even tried the other security options such as a pattern or a passcode and when I set those as my screen lock options its still just a swipe.
