Galaxy S5 :: How To Disable WiFi From Scanning And Cutting On By Itself
Feb 20, 2015I have Sprint Galaxy S5 and I am ready to throw it out the window. I have not had a problem with the phone until recently. I can't get it to cut the WiFi off and KEEP IT OFF!! I have tried everything!! I have gone into the advanced settings under WiFi and cut off the "network notification" (receive notification when open networks are in range), I've cut off the "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" and changed it to NEVER. I unchecked the box and cut off the "always allow scanning" feature. Also under advanced settings I have cut off the smart network switch.
I have also gone into the "more networks" and cut off my connection optimizer and cut off the partner WiFi option. Even went as far as going into the Network Mode and changed it to LTE/CDMA. All of this is what I have read on the forums. Nothing is working. The WiFi is still cutting on. It wouldn't bother me if I had WiFi to connect to but because I don't it's interfering with my regular mobile data and making it to where I can't use my data. It cuts on about every minute!! Not to mention this is draining my battery! Oh another thing, I downloaded a virus scanning app and my phone is clean.

May 20, 2012I woke up this morning and the media scan was running at 0%, first of all i didnt think much of it so i just left it. A few hours later I heard my phone was dying so I went to put it on charge and noticed that the media scan was still running. so i turned it off, waited a few mins then turned it back on, just in case it needed a bit of a kick up the backside. Once I had turned it back on I just left it on charge while I went to do things. went back to it a little while later and it hardly charged at all and the media scan was still at 0%. I uninstalled a few apps - nothing changed, tried connecting to kies via usb and nothing as it was still scanning. The phone itself is is very hot at the top behind the camera, it's not charging properly and I havent been able to back anything up - I just hope everything is stored on my sdcard.

Jun 13, 2015I just bought an S6 edge, UK variant, and all I need to do is to have wifi on (I'm at home) but NOT have it continually scanning for other networks.
There doesn't seem to be an option for this in the wifi - more section in settings. Am I missing something?
Just to recap, I need:
Wifi: on
Scan: off
Is this possible?

Mar 11, 20152 weeks ago my wifi wasn't even turning on, no matter what i tried, the wifi button was always on off.
Then today it just randomly worked and I was able to turn on my wifi, it allowed me to use my wifi network for 5 min.
I decided to turn the wifi off then on again, and now it doesn't scan for networks. So even though my wifi is on, there are no list of networks I can choose to join.
edit: Smart network switch is always off, because mobile data is always disabled for me, Also i cannot find reply button.

Jun 25, 2015I have just switched from Apple to Samsung after about 5-6 years. I have a Samung S6 but for some reason Ihave no option for turning on my Fingerprint Recognition. I have also noticed that I have no option to switch to easy mode.

I have an iPhone 6S and on the first setup of Touch ID; it works about 99.9% of the time! Not sure why the S6 is not working but I going to contact Samsung and see what they say! Not happy at all with the fingerprint scanner not functioning at all! Brand new phone too!
I spend about 2 hours and did all my fingers on my right hand and it just will not recognize any of them! I even clean my right hand with orange peel soap to get all the oils out of my hand and dry it with air until it was dry as can be but still no luck with the ID!

Aug 29, 2015Before I accidentally reset my phone the fingerprint unlock work good and fast. Sometimes it wouldn't read my fingerprint but it opened fast when it did. Now after the reset it reads my finger well but take 5 to 7 seconds to unlock the phone.

Nov 4, 2015A few months back I flashed xtrestolite to my g920i and have since flashed odex, deodex and several aroma versions in different combinations. Since the initial flash the scanner has not worked. Currently using the latest unikernal, though was using a different one when I first flashed. TWRP latest too.
When I try *#0* and try the sensor test I see "unfortunately, hwmoduletest has stopped working" lTrying to utilise the scanner will always show "an error has occurred with the fingerprint sensor, if this message appears repeatedly please restart your device" though restarting has never worked. I have not tried going back to stock as my carrier rom is 5.0.2 still.

Sep 29, 2015I've been googling around and haven't found an answer on how the fingerprint data is stored on the phones and is it safe regardless of device encryption?
The S5 implementation of the data was horrible and Samsung is not to concerned it seems. At least Apple clearly outlines how and where the data is stored.

Jun 14, 2015Since short I have this new S6.I love the fingerprint authentication option.Every now and then though I get this message that an error has occurred in the fingerprint database. After this no fingerprints are recognized anymore and I'm forced to log in with the Backup password. After a reboot the issue seems gone, but then it returns after a while (period between seems to vary). I have four fingers entered in the database, that normally all four work correct.

I have set up all four fingerprint options on the phone, and have set the screen lock type as fingerprints. When I lock the phone, however, the security option is just a swipe. I have already tried a soft reset and would prefer not to do a hard reset because I just finished uploading contacts and photos. I have even tried the other security options such as a pattern or a passcode and when I set those as my screen lock options its still just a swipe.

May 8, 2015Recently I'm having some troubles with my touchscreen. I've had this problem a few times now, and it seems to act up more often now. Sometimes the screen doesn't register my finger. After I reboot, it works fine again. I believe it's always on the same place. Take a look at the screenshots that I've added.
Is this software related or hardware related? I'm in doubt if I should send it back for repair. I'm afraid that i'll lose my nillkin tempered glass screen protector ...
