Galaxy S6 :: Losing Incoming Calls When Try To Answer
Jan 7, 2016
WHEN A CALL COMES IN AND I TRY TO ANSWER I IMMEDIATELY LOSE THE CALL.
I have set the Home button to answer calls and I could lose them that way OR if while using the phone and I get the little window from an incoming call with ANSWER or REJECT and I hit ANSWER I can lose call that way also.
1 or 2 out of 10 incoming calls, I am UNABLE to answer, the swiping right action just doesn't seem to work, the phone stops ringing but the screen keeps displaying the answer/ reject screen, like the one in the middle below:
I have even chosen to use the HOME button to answer incoming calls (the picture on the left above) but it doesn't work either... (I can't answer by swiping or hitting the home key).
When someone calls me and I want to answer the call by swiping the green button I got nothing even I can't end the call by swiping the red button or even by pressing the lock key. I have to wait until the caller ends the call and then I call him back.
When my LG G3 phone rings I do not get any options to answer the call and if the phone screen is sleeping it does not waken up, I can make calls and receive call but just cannot answer them......
I've had a brand new Xperia Z3 less than a week and I can see when I am getting an incoming call. But, if I'm texting at the time, although I can see the call notification I can't respond to it and the buttons disappear from the bottom of the screen. The slide down options from the top of the screen also disappear. The phone just freezes and I have to restart the phone every time. I don't know if it's doing this with other apps, or whether it's just the messaging app.
I'm unable to answer any incoming calls because the display becomes unresponsive. If the screen is blank, it remains blank until the phone stops ringing. If the screen is active, it remains active but unresponsive for the duration of the ring. I'm still using Kit Kat 4.4.4.
I have a Nexus 5 running Android Kit Kat 4.4.2. Overall this is a great phone but i am facing some issues that i will describe below:
1) This i noticed 2 months ago. I dont know if it still has it: I was calling a friend and he didnt answer. Then the whole day i was waiting for him to call back but he never did (at least according to my phone). When i called him again he told me that he called me back, the phone rang 3 times and then he got the message we get when someone rejects the call or the phone is out of battery. I never had a missing call to know that he called back. This is a very tricky error, since maybe you are missing incoming calls from your boss. To you it appears like you never received the call, but to your boss it seems like you are ignoring him. Not a good thing.
2) This is a problem i am getting for the last 2 months. When someone calls and the device is sleeping, i hear the ringing, i unlock the phone but what i get is the main page of the device. No incoming call notification, no dialer, nothing.Only the ringtone. If i press the phone app i get 3 choices:
a) use touch tone keypad b)return to call in process c)add call
Pressing "return to call in process" doesnt do a thing. To see who has called you, you must go to the missed calls after the ringing is over. Also if you dont restart the device, the problem stays there. The only solution is to restart the device. After restarting the device the problem goes away for 2-3 days and then it happens again.
I dont know if other Nexus 5 owners are experiencing the same problems, but since a smart phone is based on making and receiving calls, these 2 problems must be addressed by Google ASAP.
Also, i am not willing to factory reset my device, if i am not sure that this will 100% solve the problem.
PS1: My device is NOT rooted.
PS2: My brother's Nexus 4 started having the same problem (problem number 2) after updating to Kit Kat 4.4.2. But not in the same frequency as my Nexus 5.
Upon Receiving an incoming call my phone rings & vibrates - but will not display any alert on the screen (or lock screen) that there is an incoming call. If I unlock the phone as it's ringing the normal home screen is displayed and after a ring or two I receive the below "Mobile Data not available" prompt. Pressing ok results in the phone going back to the homescreen with once again, no further dialog to answer/ignore/mute the call (nothing in the notification bar either). Eventually the call will make it to voicemail as i can't answer it, and i get a prompt missed call notification.
Items i've checked so far: disabled apps - re-enabled to make sure nothing got zapped that's interfering.Mobile data is enabled under settings.OTA Update was applied & Phone works fine otherwise, solid 4G service in populated area....Note the missed call notification icon is displayed from a previous call when i was trouble shooting:
I installed Full Screen Caller ID but wasn't happy with the functionality of it, so I uninstalled it. Then, the next time I got a call I no longer had the standard HTC Sense UI Slide to answer (down to answer, up to send to VM) but instead just had the Answer and Ignore buttons. how I can get the slide back? Or, if there's another app that gives you a slide to answer? All of the apps that I've found do the opposite, and give you buttons instead of a slide, but not what I'm looking for.
Ever since my phone was updated to ICS, I've noticed that once in a while (it's probably happened 5 times now) I can not answer an incoming phone call. Usually it's while my phone is in the Droid 4 car dock, but it has also happened without it being connected to anything. What happens is my phone will ring either through the phone speakers and my bluetooth headset (if connected), but the phone "answer" screen will not pop up, and the phone doesn't respond to any type of input, which forces me to reboot my phone by holding down the power/volume down buttons. Once the phone boots back up, there is no record of who called me in the recent calls list, so hopefully they leave me a voicemail otherwise I have no idea who called me. After the first couple times this happened, I decided to perform a factory reset, hoping that this would fix the lag/freeze up issue, but it did not correct this problem. The only way that I can think of trying to minimize the occurrences of the phone freezing up/ running sluggishly would be to perform a reboot every couple days or so to clear up the memory.
Just about a week ago, my phone started to act up by not showing the option to answer or ignore incoming calls. I've tried restarting the phone and messing with setting but nothing.
This is happening often. When I have an incoming call the call screen appears and phone rings. I go to answer by dragging the icon to the green answer icon and nothing happens. The phone continues to ring. Trying to drag to the red ignore call icon has the same result. Eventually the caller gets sent to voicemail, but the phone remains locked in this state and needs to be rebooted before it is operational again. I thought it was related to teh phone being in a lockscreen state, but it now appears to be random. I have contacted Google and they said they have not heard of this issue before. Essentially it is unusuable as a phone.
So today has started yet another problem. Now when I go to answer my calls or make a call, it is automatically on speakerphone. I turned my phone off and it helped for a few calls and now the problem has returned. I have heard of USB ports going bad or something of that sort (not really familiar with it). Hopefully this is not what happened, yet then again maybe I could get a refurb not riddled with problems.
I had an 8 month old phone that was actingup , going to speaker phone with no buttons being pushed , couldnt answer incoming calls, couldnt see who was calling . Yesterday i had it swapped out for a new refurbished unit and it is doing the same thing today . Has anyone heard of or experienced any of these problems
my SGS 2 has started to divert to answer machine after only a couple of rings? How can I change the time phone rings before going to the answer machine?
I've got a brand new Galaxy S6 (unlocked), running 5.1.1 - I dial it, it rings, but there's no way to pick it up. I wake the screen (as its just black) - standard lockscreen, unlock, standard launcher - there's no dialler popup to answer the call or anything.I've dug through all the options and can't find anything that might be causing this, I haven't yet factory reset as I spent a load of time customising everything before noticing, sigh.Any clues to how I can debug this?
I have recently picked up a Galaxy S6 and have an issue with answering incoming phone calls. The phone will ring, but often when I pull it out of my pocket it the screen stays black and doesn't have an option to answer. If I unlock the phone with my fingerprint it just takes me to the home screen like normal and there is no option to answer the phone anywhere.
Started to get to grips with my S2 after switching over from Blackberry for business. Must admit, i'm quite enjoying it now! I still use an iPhone for personal so it's quite nice to have the comparison..Anyway, sitting at my desk with my headset on I would love to be able to answer my client calls and reply to SMS by using my PC instead of the phone itself. It may sound lazy but it'd be so much quicker to just stick it in a USB dock or something and then not have to worry about it again all day.Is this possible? I've seen something called MOBILedit but the reviews don't seem too clever.
My phone works perfectly except I can't answer calls, when I press answer/ignore it freezes until it goes to voicemail and then comes back. I've flashed multiple roms and had the problem with all of them. I'm not using any special themes or anything, and the only software I ever install are HD Tweak and Finger Keyboard 2.1 and my radio 1.14.25.24. Here's a list of what I've done since I had the phone:
1. Bought phone. Flashed HSPL. Flashed Laurentius L26, no problems. Was being lazy so I didn't hard reset after flashing. 2. Flashed Dutty R14. Didn't hard reset after flashing. No problems for awhile and then the problem of not being able to answer calls appeared. 3. Flashed EnergyRom wm6.5 rom. Hard reset twice after. Still having problem where I can't answer calls. 4. Flashed Dutty 3.9XT wm6.1 rom. Hard reset twice after. Still having problem where I can't answer calls.
If anyone can help me figure out why my phone is doing this I'd really appreciate it, I'll even pay you some money on PayPal if you like because I really want to fix it. Here are some ideas I had as to why it's not working:
- Problem with rom flash. No, because I tried it with 3 different roms so far and had the same problem. - Touch HD isn't fast enough to run wm6.5 and be stable. No, because I tried it with a wm6.1 rom too and had the same problem. - Someone suggested it might be a problem with the battery. No, because I ordered new replacement batteries and tried them and had the same problem. - Some of the settings in HD Tweak are incompatible with something in the roms I'm using. Maybe, is this possible? I don't really change much, just the softkeys and the highlight color and things like that. - Screwed up something in the SPL or something because I didn't hard reset after flashing the first 2 roms. Maybe, is this possible? - Dropped my phone and somehow managed to break nothing but the mechanism involved in answering calls. Maybe, is this possible?
Today I'm going to reflash HSPL, flash the stock HTC rom, hard reset twice, and see if I still have the problem. I don't know what else to do or what other possibilities there are. If anyone can shed some light on this issue, that would be great, because I really don't want to have to buy a new phone.
When I get an incoming call on my Sprint Galaxy S II with my Plantronics Voyager Pro headset, I have to press answer on the phone, then hit keyboard, then hit 1 to answer the call (which is ridiculous, especially if I am driving). Is there a way I can set the phone so I can answer calls just by tapping my headset like all other phones I have had in the past?
I have a S2 on UK Vodafone contract even though I am currently living in NZ. My phone is a UK model.UK Vodafone have terminated the Passport service as of 1st November which means I now go on to NZ roaming which at 1.65/NZ$3.30 a minute is somewhat steep - I also pay that amount for the incoming call.I now need to block all incoming calls on my phone so as I am not tempted to answer calls at odd times of the day or night (quite hard when we are 13 hours ahead of UK and totally out of sync with them) and pay extortionate amounts of money BUT I need to leave the phone available to make and receive text messages. It is not as easy as to just get a NZ phone contract as this was my life line with friends and family in UK until my provider pulled the passport service so need to disable the phone I have.how to do this so as I can still send/receive text but NOT receive voice calls on my S2?
Issue: For the last week, I have been missing almost all of my incoming calls. It rings from in/from the calling phone, but nothing comes through on my phone. This started at the same time that my outbound texts started hour-glassing (green/blue rotating circle) for 30-90 seconds before sending - some texts "fail to send" altogether. Also, sometimes when surfing the internet (Chrome and apps) on the network (full bars of 4G LTE), websites don't load - they time out. This has always happened (very occasionally) but seems to happen a lot more often since the texting/calling issues have surfaced.
Attempts to fix: I have updated my PRL. I have ensured that my 'network mode' was still in LTE/CDMA. I have reset settings back to pre-set using ##72786#. I have taken my phone to a Sprint store and was told that they only thing they could recommend was to factory-reboot my phone but that it probably wouldn't fix the issues.
Other notes: I have not downloaded any new apps around the time the issues came about. Also, turning my "network mode" to CDMA seems to fix the incoming call problem (but then I don't have 4G)
I have a Samsung Galaxy s6 and as of this morning I cannot see when I have an incoming call or accept the call. I only am aware of the incoming call by the ringtone followed by the a missed call being added to the log. I have changed the setting to now let me answer the call by hitting the home key however, I cannot see who Is at the other end of the incoming call. If I make a outgoing call I no longer have the call screen appear.
Lately my S5 will not accept incoming calls. If someone calls me (particularly from a cell phone number) and I answer, it 'Accepts' the call but immediately ends the call. Meaning, it goes from the slide to unlock and then go the call screen but the call ends right away.
If I call from my house phone, a VoIP landline, my S5 will allow that call with no issues. I've had multiple people try calling from different cell phone carriers and iOS or android phones, and each time it's the same result.
I have tried using the Home Key to answer the call, and still get the same thing. I have tried rebooting my phone, clearing cache partition, factory resets, WiFi calling on/off, roaming or not roaming, 4G or 3G, power saving on/off, updating my profile and prl, and all motion gestures are turned off. I've verified I'm not blocking any calls from within the call settings.
I have a samsung galaxy 6 and all incoming calls are setting my ringtone to mute. I put my ringtone volume as high as it will go. Then I call my phone. Sometimes it will ring once with volume before it magically sets my ringtone to mute, but regardless, ever incoming call sets my ringtone to mute by the 2nd or 3rd ring.
