Galaxy S5 :: No Sound From Google Maps Voice Navigation
Jul 23, 2015
When I get into the car, I sometimes plug the S5 into my car stereo's aux input via a 3.5mm audio cable. I can play anything just fine(streaming music or MP3/FLAC/WAV files stored on the phone). When I'm listening to the car stereo itself(CD, FM/AM, etc), I usually leave the phone plugged in. If I want to use Google Maps voice navigation, I'll have to physically disconnect the 3.5m audio cable if I want to hear the voice navigation on my phone. (again, this is when I'm only playing a CD on the car stereo)Is there a way to get around this so that I don't have to plug/unplug in the aux input cable all the time?
I am running 5.0 on my GS5 with Google Maps 9.8.1, TTS enabled, US English, etc... (everything that I can think of) and when navigating, no street names are ever spoken. Only "Turn left", etc...
I'll use my GS6 as my GPS and while driving, the screen will rotate 180 degrees. I'm now looking at an upside down map. It's done this with Waze and Google Maps. After a while it'll do the same thing and flip back to rightside up. If I don't, I'll have to rotate the screen back to potrait mode before rotating it back to landscape. I've done some research on Google and haven't found any results, only that the GS6 Edge had a rotation problem, but it doesn't seem related. None of my other apps mimic this behavior.
Since Maps 9.2, Google maps integrated voice commands into navigation. So you can ask "are we there yet" or make a call. When I press the mic button during navigation, voice gallery pops up.
I am getting used to my s6. Sometimes I am driving and there could be an accident and I need to try and grab my phone and put it in the phone holder in my car then navigate to google maps to find an alternate route by hand. I am wondering if I could make this easier by doing some of this with my voice. I know it is possible to search a specific place after pressing the voice icon manually after launching google maps, but is there a way so I can just put the phone in the car holder then use my voice to launch maps and say what my destination is?
Is there a way to adjust voice output. I use Google Maps often and white navigating, I'd like to have her speech slowed a bit so her voice would be better understood.
I have a N85 Navi which I bought less than a year ago. I updated this week the maps and the application (latest version)and added one voice for the navigation. After this update when I open the Maps and select Settings and Navigation (to change i.e. voice), Maps closes automatically without any error messages. I can open all the other settings sub-menus. Any ideas why this is happening? Do I have the to re-install the application, maps and voices?
I have Version 3.03 with map version 0.1.23.112 and I'm going crazy trying to figure out why it doesn't speak when I'm navigating. As in it doesn't say when to make a left or right. When I had the phone (brand new) it has nokia maps and then I updated it thru my phone and gave me Ovi Maps.
Is there a setting for this? Have my "car" fixed at the bottom of the screen and have the map turn accordingly, instead of my "car" turning on a simple satellite view? If not, what's the best alternatives?
I live in Brazil and recently bought a Nokia 5800 Xpress Music. I've installed the Ovi Maps 2.0 and download, through the nokia program the maps for Brazil and Brazilian Portuguese voice. During the "Drive"/"Walk" options in Ovi Maps, there is no voice. I don't know what to do. I've checked the updates on the phone software and map software through the computer and it says as the last version.
I have just purchased the new N900 phone. First impression is it looks very good and works well, BUT still lacking the key features of the N96 such as:
Ovi Maps does not provide voice navigation. Java is not supported so such brilliant apps such as the Opera browsers can not be installed onto it. PC suite is not yet available it the phone. So at first glance it is a great phone that could match the IPhone, but more work needs to be done to it to make it the all singing and dancing phone that Nokia needs it to be. If i am wrong on these points could someone point me in the right direction of addressing them
I own a Nokia E71 and I am very excited about Nokia Maps. I am not a good computer user but somehow managed to land into this forum. I have downloaded Nokia Maps on my Nokia - E71 and its awesome but the voice navigation is not working. When I tried to download Voices using "Map Loader" it shows no entry. I have attached the screenshot of "Map Loader" for your reference.
I have an N85 and got the latest Ovi Maps for my phone. On the ovi website it is advertising free voice guided navigation for life, but my application keeps asking me to purchase a license.I am confused , do I have the wrong version? What do I need to do to take advantage of the free navigation as advertised?
My Samsung Galaxy S5 has an issue with the interaction with Blue Tooth paired with my Ford Escape Hybrid, the Goggle MAPs turn by Turn voice does not function until I disable the Bluetooth on the phone.
after updating Ovi Maps to final version 3.06 10wk50 with new maps 0.2.42.122 the German voice guidance with street names is broken. The voice announces i.e. to turn right in one kilometer and again to turn right now, but the announcement to turn right in about 300 meters including the street name or the highway number and direction is missing completely. Sometimes the command to turn now is also left out. I tried using the German female voice without street names as well as the UK English voice with street names - both work well without any problems.I already reinstalled Ovi Maps via Ovi Store, deleted the qf file and the cities folder on the mass memory and re-downloaded the map and voice files, I resetted the phone via *#7370# and reinstalled the actual firmware (013.016) via Ovi Suite without success.
I downloaded and installed maps of Australia and the surfer dude voice using map loader. However my maps application did not detect any drive navigation voice. When I browsed the voices folder however it was there.i had to download another voice thru the maps application (sadly no surfer dud) in order to get voice navigation. Is there any reason for this? I am using a 5800 with v31 and im using maps v3.04. Although with both v3.03 and 3.04 the same problem was there.
I have a C5-00 5MP and I downloaded maps for walking ("with street names"). But Ovi Maps seems unable to get aware of it : the menu allowing to select the walking guidance voice in settings remains empty. The voices for driving guidance are displayed OK though.
When I have BT activated on the N6P along with Google Maps Nav, the sound output (voice directions) is either:a. When phone is set to BT stream music = sound command is partially cutoff at the beginning - orb. If the radio is on = No sound output is heard at allGoogle Nav is set to output sound via BT under its settings.
This also happened on my OnePlus One. I thought I had read somewhere that this happen because of the BT format that Android sends to the car's audio system is incompatible.
I'm not sure but i think my nexus kinda has a very low sound output during voice calls.. I can barely hear anything at full volume in a not so loud environment..
I've changed the voice on my S5 under Settings > Language and input > Text-to-speech options, but despite that, the navigation voice remains unchanged. It doesn't matter if I use the Samsung engine or the Google engine, I still get the original nav voice. Can this actually be changed?
I'd like to download Own Voice for Nokia Maps in a X6-00 (16Gb) Symbian 5th edition phone. I tried to find it in the nokia store but I don't see the application there any more. I created a voice pack some time ago that I would like very much to use in a different phone.
Prior to the lollipop update everything was working fine. Now if I am listening to something on the Audible app or Pocketcast app the Google Maps voice will not break in with directions. There will just be a brief silence where it is trying to speak but no actual voice. If I pause the book or music the maps voice works. If I turn the Bluetooth on the phone off the voice breaks through just fine on the phone speaker. It's very frustrating.
I am searching for a free apps - voice guided navigation using gps in Samsung galaxy s2. bought samsung galaxy s2 recently.y friend, a die hard fan of Apple's products showed me his I Phone4 with a newly downloaded apps (Sygic- a voice guided navigation system).FYI, Apple's IPhone / IPad is able to download the Voice guided GPS navigation Apps (Sygic) and use it for free. Users can also update the maps from time to time. *After apple users 'jail-break' their devices, they are able to download many apps for free, including Sygic*ut for Samsung GS2 / Tab users, they are only able to download Sygic and use it for trial periods of 7 days.Subsequently, they have to pay $$.Now I am facing this problem, the apps keep asking me to key in the activation code which I will be getting the code after paying them.
So, i am searching everywhere for the similar apps (free apps), but couldn't get.The preloaded apps in my SGS2 when i bought are Google Maps, Navigate (a blue triangle icon). "Navigate" is good and accurate, but the only thing is there is no turn-by-turn (tbt)voice guidance. I prefer to have a tbt voice guidance as I don't have to look at my phone and I can concentrate more on the road / traffic while i am driving.
I have downloaded the "Own Voice" guidance for navigation but seem to have lost my setting it up. how to set up my own voice? By that I mean, to record my own voice? All I can do as of now is choose "Own Voice" in the Settings -> Walk/Drive -> Voice Guidance. But where to RECORD my own voice?
