Galaxy S5 :: Clearing Processes And Freeing Up Memory
Jun 4, 2015
I have noticed that when using the pull up screen and using the little mobilego propeller icon to clear active processes, with in a few minutes of doing so, there are more processes again to clear...even the phone has sat idle. I would figure without me doing anything, it would stay "optimized", but this is not the case. Is this normal or am I having an issue?
I am attempting to transfer as many files as possible from my phone memory to mass memory...At present I only have about 16mb of space left on my phone memory and when I check my files I see that 39mb is used for other and 18mb for SIS applications.......the rest..eg calender, contacts, messaging are taking up very little space...can anyone tell me what other and SIS actually mean and what files they include....I have purchased and downloaded Quickoffice...could this be part of it...
I find myself constantly obsessed with freeing memory on my 3GS. If it's not at least 140mb free I'm anal about it lol. My question is, are there any negative effects to doing this? Normally I would think not EXCEPT my phone has rebooted in safe mode only about 3 times total after freeing it up through SBSettings. Other than those instances it has never happened.
When I delete apps on my iPhone 4 with 32g it doesn't free up any memory? I goto settings, general, about and it says 28g used and like 4g free. I deleted almost all my apps and the memory stayed the same. Why am I having this problem and what can I do to fix it? It seems like it is slowing phone down also. Plz help I really don't want to use reset option but if I have to I will.
Info: iPhone 4, iOS 5.0.1, Freeing up memory space?
What is the procedure for clearing the memory on a CK-100 car kit? My phone pairs with car kit but wont connect. My phone is Samsung galaxy ace was previously connecting on original galaxy ace but since had replacement this wont connect.
I have a 8330 it came with applications on it already most of them i never use i was trying to find a way to delete them off my phone to free up some memory but when i click on the options for that app it doesnt give the option to delete it?
This may sound like a complete newbie question, but I've never had to do this....Is there a way to see what is solely on my memory card and delete certain objects to free up some space? When I had a Windows based phone I could just go into the folders.. is this possible with my 9700?
Recently went into the keyboard settings to clear the personalized data stored with the predictive text feature on the default Samsung keyboard. However, it appears that an update somewhere along the way moved the location to clear this personalized data.
I used to drill down in the language and input settings menu, into the Samsung keyboard options, and could enter into the "predictive text" menu. However, that menu has been replaced with a toggle switch that will simply turn predictive text on or off.
My phone (galaxy S5) worked very well with my carrier (Videotron). I had a problem connecting to the data so I called videotron and they told me to come in the store to fix it. Not really knowing what i was doing and being a little bit impatient I was looking through the settings of my phone, trying to figure out what was the problem, when I found the Activate this device tab. I then proceeded to clear my "cellular data'' by pressing the 3 dots on the top right corner. After this, it said ''invalid SIM card'' and I've reset de device twice, went to the videotron store, contacted Samsung. Still no solution.
My 1 month old s6 (920i) struggles to get a 3.5hr SOT during the day. Coming from the s3 where i used to easily get a 5hr SOT with the same usage style i can say this is pathetic. In the battery section top of the list i have Android OS and Google Services, followed by Facebook and Instagram.
Note that i have most of the things turned off except when using them, such as wifi, gps, nfc etc... Also i tried booting to stock recovery and clearing cache but this has not solved the issue. The phone does go to deep sleep as i have checked using BBS.
after about 4 mnths of use neo v started to lag.specially when playing games like temple run which ran smoothly before.i have about 110mb free int memry.what cn i do?is thr an option to restore phone to day 1 lvl or sth?
find a list of processes on Iphone 4 that should normaly be running. This is needed to check if there are any other running processes that could use to make fraud or to tap the line.Â
Ever since I upgraded my iPhone 4S to iOS7, it has basically become a brick. It constantly freezes, and the home button becomes completely inoperable. People have suggested a number of fixes for the home button problem ("calibrating", tightening screws, etc.) but none of the fixes solved the problem. Through trial and error, I've come to realize that the problem is that the phone doesn't have enough computing power and that too much of its RAM gets used up by background processes, causing the phone to freeze. Â
I have found an app that stops unnecessary background processes currently running, frees up RAM, and lets the phone function properly (Free RAM 1.3). Once I've run this app, the phone functions perfectly. Â
However, this clean up only happens each time the app is launched (ie: it does not continuously free up RAM). So, I constantly have to run it (and sometimes am not able to because the phone is frozen and the home button won't work). Â
When it is running, the app displays the background processes that are running. Looking at the list, there are many processes for which I have no need, such as processes related to automatic checking for app updates, processes related to iCloud (which I do not use), etc. Preventing these processes from running in the first place would go a long way in making my phone more useable (being able to return to a previous iOS would be a better option, but Apple won't allow this).Â
Here is my question:Â is there a way to prevent unnecessary background processes from running at all?Â
I got my 6p last week and it's been running great until this afternoon. It got warm and the battery level drops by 70's at around 10am to low 30's at 4pm; during that time it was mostly on airplane mode with all sync/bluetooth/gps turned off.
When I checked the battery history it says that the GPS has been on for over 7 hours. I certainly did not turn on the gps myself (I turned off location), and I do NOT have smart lock.
Question: How can I determine which apps/processes turn on the GPS?
I also notice that "Miscellanenous" is responsible for 29% of the battery use.
Question: What the heck is that? How can I turn it off?
I've been having issues since I did the Froyo update on my Blue Tick upgraded Telstra defy. Australian users will know what I mean by that. I did a hard reset soon after the froyo update because a few strange things were happenning. The hard reset seemed to resolve my issues.
But now I need to reboot my phone on average once per day. I get google system processes force closing randomly. It usually happens when I'm not even using the phone. I'll pick it up to use it and there'll be a force close message. Stuff like Swype will also randomly force close. When this stuff starts to happen, a heap of my apps won't open. They just force close straight away. When I reboot everything is fine for about another 24 hours, then another google system process will force close and it all starts to happen again.
Has anyone had anything similar happen? Is there any point in doing another hard reset? I can't really see why it would make any difference doing it again. I'm currently in the middle of reformatting my sd card to see if that makes any difference.
Received a 2nd hand phone and thought it might be a good idea to update the software.not really a good choice. Lost the applications like skype and fring.thats ok but when i go to install them again they download but dont install.Just get to download complete the ask if i want to install and go straight back to the download complet message. Is there any way to clear memory of last install properly. without clearing phone completely?
Phone is stuck on the blackberry id sign in page won't accept my password even though i've been on the internet to change therefore confirming it was the correct password.... Can't use my phone for anything?
I noticed that certain apps, like Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram, are starting to hog up a bunch of memory on my device. When checking the usage details, I don't have the option to clear out the 'documents & data' within the app. I've been reading a few things online which advised that deleting and reinstalling the app is the only way to clear it out on the phone. It seems to be a bit of an inconvenience, especially if I use the apps often and they start accumulating new data all over again after they are reinstalled.
I am new to the 9930 (through Verizon). I used to have the older Blackberry Bold (through T-Mobile) and all I had to do was click on "Messages" on top.view the previews and then the notifiers would go away. Did this change with the 9930? Is it the new software? Will I always have to do that "Mark Prior Read" trick in order to clear them?
I removed some video's from the SD cart, but the space did not clear up. I had 5 GB free when I removed the videos and I had 5 GB free after I removed them.
How do you clear your Safari cache. When I go to settings, safari, I don't see cache there. I do see clear history and clear cookies and data. Is one of them the same as clearing cache?
when I push the button that looks like a phone all my previous calls come up, is there a way to clear them all at once? The only way I see it is highlight the call press menu button then scroll down to delete on each call.
I had a Moto Droid Pro which I was backing up with a Google account. I then lost the device. I decided to replace the lost device with an iPhone and at the same time purchased a XOOM. When I initially signed on to the XOOM and connected the same Google account, low and belhold some, but not all, of my DroidPro apps/settings were restored to my XOOM. Initially, not such a big deal, but now that I have been having problems with my Xoom freezing and having to perform countless Hard Factory Resets [URL] I have a feeling that the restore operation is getting confused between the old DroidPro backup and the new Xoom backup. Furthermore, I recently signed up for AppBrain [URL] to track/restore my apps each time I had to do a reset. When I signed up for AppBrain, it listed both the DroidPro and Xoom in my Android Market data...How do I tell Google/Verison/Android Market that the DroidPro data should be cleaned from the system?
I have a 2 month old AT&T 8310. It currently has a corporate IT policy, and all of my contacts, emails etc. I want to wipe it clean so that it can be sold. Here is the procedure that a guy at the AT&T store gave me to remove the IT policy and wipe all the data. Before I try this, do you think it will work?
I received a BBM invite which popped on the front screen. I then accepted it but the request is still showing on the front screen. tried acceptin, declinin, ignorin it but no result.
