I only use my Galaxy S5's default text messaging app whenever I txt with friends. Whenever they send me a link to go check out I will select that link and it will ask if I want to open with chrome or use another application. I click "always" when selecting chrome and it says "clear default app settings by going to settings..." and on and on. I click on OK and proceed to the link.
The problem I have is that this happens every single time. It always asks if I always want to run the same application I've always said to always use. What is my phone not understanding about always running the same program? Is there something I'm not understanding?
After clicking on a video link, 'open with' popped out allowing me to select what application to use to open the video. I think I accidentally clicked "always open with Internet browser" and now I'm struggling to download videos using common applications like fvd etc.
Ok, to try and clarify...I have had all of the Samsung Galaxy S phones except the S5. I've moved all my photos & screen shots from them to my pc over time, generally via Kies or usb transfer. I've noticed that I have now got a huge number of .png files dated from about 2012 onwards that I can't open. Previous png files can be opened-they appear to be screenshots or the like. So I don't know what has happened. They can't be opened using any of the options on my pc. (I recently changed to Windows 10 from 8, but it was doing this prior to that) I can't re save them because they can't be opened, nor does changing the file name allow them to be opened.
I've also noticed that my current S6 makes all my screenshots .png files as well. The only way around this at the moment is to upload them to Google drive and change it to a jpeg file at the time. I have to do this for each shot one at a time. I'm assuming I can then move these across from Google drive as jpeg.
So, I need to know how to change the default on my S6 from .png to .jpeg for screen shots. How to change my previous .png files back to jpeg so I can open them! I have copied all of them to a usb stick and tried to open them on my work computer, but that also won't open them under any program. I realise that isn't an Android issue in itself, but as all of these images have come from my Galaxy S phones originally, I don't want to delete them without being able to see them as I might want to keep them...but without knowing what they are...
When searching something within the Google App, there is no issues with the search itself, however when I click on a link to certain websites (Wikipedia is the biggest one I have noticed), I get the message "No App Found to Open URL". I have reset app preferences and tried this in safe mode with the same results. I have tried several browsers as the default with no difference.
My s6 won't fully download emails with pdf file att. I've hit the load more button but when you try to open it comes up with warning email must be fully downloaded before att can be read .the emails can be read from my pc? ?
I have an S2 and wanted to show someone my website. Whenever it tries to connect, the URL at the top changes from what I type and an "m" appears in the middle. I have asked friends to try the address and it loads just fine.
Purchased new Galaxy s6 dual SM-G920FD .... Phone working fine but as i install any app from playstore and as i open that installed app phone restart...
Have installed pdf reader app as well I have changed setting to no limit download size and auto download as previously suggested. I end up always getting file size 0 or incompatible file message.
I did both Lollipop updates, wiped the cache partition and did a factory reset after each update.. and still things are not quite right.
When I press the recent apps button it shows the recent apps - fine. But after I pull the battery and restart the phone, shouldn't there be nothing showing? Because even after taking the battery out and restarting it shows me a whole bunch...some that I didn't even have open before.
I also notice that the top two things showing in the GSAM Battery Monitor App Usage are Android System (14-18%) and Kernel (Android OS) (12-15%).
I'm having various other issues too.. it tends to get pretty hot. Sometimes I can be typing an email and then suddenly the phone takes me back to my inbox and what I was typing is gone..
My Galaxy S5 email is set up and I am getting emails OK through my yahoo account but when those emails have picture attachments, they won't open (view) or download. I get error messages that say "Sorry and error occurred. Please try again. if the error persists there may be a problem with the file you're try to access." I've tested this by sending pics to both my phone and CC'ing my mail on my PC and the files are not corrupt as I can open them on my PC. I attempted .jpeg, .png, ,gif and .bit and none will open or save.
Any way to enable notification sounds for SMS when the SMS screen is open and phone screen is on ?I get the alert when the SMS screen is closed, or the phone screen is off, but if I am having a conversation with someone via SMS, I obviously have the SMS screen open, and I get no sounds to tell me they have replied, it just updates the conversation on screen...
for some reason today, I can't open any links in my emails on my S2. I get an error message for them saying 'web page not available'.my wireless connection is working on my laptop and the phone is set up to use the same network.
I found the caches under my files but it won't let me open them on my phone. I also tried connecting my phone to the computer with the usb chord and opening from my pc but some won't open. How do i view them?
Just one thing I can't confirm. Does the bottom USB port have a slide dust cover like my SGS does?Looking at pics seems its just open and exposed. I know if i leave the cover open on my SGS it soon fills up with dust pretty quick!
A friend and I got the Galaxy S6 on the same day, and soon after we noticed that you can't open URLs from the mail client - ie someone sends you an email with a link in it, when you try and tap the link, you get this:
Just an empty white box with the link URL at top.
I spoke to Samsung on their live chat thing, and they were able to reproduce it on their test phone, and have escalated it (apparently).
I am bothered with the facebook app not following lollipop's open/close animations.
All apps close and open with the same animations, except facebook which just pops out of nowhere. I also got this issue with my gpe m8. Is there any reason for this?
It takes like 8 seconds to open a MMS in the default Samsung messages app? In Google messenger app from play store, its instant.
Also, anyway to hide the group conversation check box? I get it, we need to convert to MMS, but wish they just hid that line since its really annoying in the Messages app. I want to give it a shot before I disable the app and go to Google Messenger.
When I open an app it opens from the bottom to the top real slowly, when I close it it goes to the bottom slowly and goes away. I hate that, not sure how that happened but it just started today. How can I make it open and close normally?
Having problems with camera settings closing right after it opens? I've tried clearing data/cache. rather annoying since I can't change and of the image and video settings.
When trying to open a downloaded file (doesn't work for any email account), I get "unable to find application to perform this action." This is for Galaxy S6
Sometimes when i click microphone on google search, i get "Can't open microphone" error. First i tought it's about google app but it is not. When i tried to call a friend on Viber he couldn't hear me and i realized it is about all applications which uses internet. To be sure, then, i tried to record voice on Facebook Messenger, microphone didn't work.On skype didn't work.
Then,i called somebody on gsm network, microphone worked. I tried to record my voice on local application, microphone worked.Again, i tried all applications which uses internet, no luck.
After some minutes microphone acts normally.I mean it works everywhere. I couldn't understand when it works normally or according to what.
When i have this case, killing all apps and reboot phone not working.
Oddity is that my friend had Sony Z3, she has same issue.Microphone sometimes works sometimes doesn't work. So, i started think that maybe one app that we both have, always occupy the microphone and doesn't let another applications to use it. But why i can make calls on gsm network or record voice on local apps. Maybe they have higher priority on using microphone(?).
It sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. Now, i did a list of apps which uses microphone and i will try to delete or force stop one by one when i have this issue.
Another friend who has Sony Z3 has exactly same issue. So far, 1xGalaxy S6, 2xSony Z3
