Nov 30, 2011I recently purchased my first Blackberry, the Bold 9930. I really love it. My previous mobile was an Apple 3GS. The only real thing I miss about the 3GS and find lacking in my new 9930 is the Bold's lack of an onscreen keypad for dialing phone numbers. The Bold's keyboard is great for typing on but is nowhere near as easy to dial phone numbers as my iPhone 3GS was. Adding an onscreen keypad to the Bold, similar to the one on the 9810 would make the Bold much more user friendly. Especially too people coming over from the iPhone or android phones.

Aug 3, 2010On the instruction, it clearly says I could hide the onscreen keypad by pressing the "back" key, this also works on my friend's phone. This doesn't work on mine, whether messaging or composing an email, when I press the "back" key it takes me back previous screen. It is really annoying as the screen is small and when you are typing a long-ish text you having to look at it through 1/3 of the screen! I reset the phone twice now and also downloaded the sony ericsson update launcher and have the latest software on the phone now, but this keypad problem still remain.

Jul 16, 2011my nokia c3 keypad is not working, i may have got it wet, i don't know, but itll turn on, and if i've taken the battery out, itll let me set the date and time, but once i get passed that stage, itll just stay on the homescreen and buzzes when calls and txts come through but the keypad freezes. it'll let me also turn it off but other than that nothing. I dont know what to do? it seems weird the keypad will work for turning it on/off and numbers(date and time) until i get to the home screen..

Jan 10, 2011Recently my 5month old C5 keypad metal panel that cover menu (contact, menu, dial and poweroff) is loose out and surprisingly this metal pad only stick on by sticker, I try to bring it to the nokia service center but they said keypad is not cover by warranty, but how could such a careless design of a critical component in this case is a keypad that will be subject to presure of finger, is only design to stick only by double tape, in my whole life using Nokia and other brand never found such a careless design on keypad, allthough it look nice it should not be in separate piece and only stick by double tape??! and worse it Nokia service center do not want to be responsible for this careless design by this UI engineer?? I hope in the future Nokia RnD should really taking seriously on the design not only look nice and pack with feature but should really taking care small thing but critical such as this metal pad, any cellphone pad should come in one piece or at least not just a plain metal stick on the button by double tape, it should be robust.

May 22, 2010There has been a lot of discussion from people posting their desire to have a full-screen, touch QWERTY keyboard available on the N97, and I am in agreement this would be useful. A couple days ago, I was messing around with my N97 (which I am always doing) and needed to enter some text. Hit the screen to enter it and BANG, up popped a full screen QWERTY to use. I didn't think anything of it at the time, I just entered my text and continued. It was a day or so later it actually hit me what had happened. Unfortunately, because of this, I cannot remember what exactly I was doing at that particular time, but whatever it was, it gave me the full QWERTY onscreen. I have no idea if it's part of the new 2.1 beta Jave Runtime available on Betalabs but it's definitely there SOMEWHERE.
For anyone who hasn't tried the new 2.1 Java Runtime, I'd recommend giving it a try. It'll take up around 4mb of space on C: I'm afraid but my N97 has been running a lot better since installing it and I didn't miss the space as I was already running the older 2.0 beta anyway. If I do work out how I got the QWERTY to appear, I will certainly re-post.

Feb 8, 2010I have a problem with my Nokia N73.Recently I turned off the phone and when I turned it on again my keyboard wasn't working any more. It only showed the time/date settings (which I couldn't set because of keyboard malfunction). After some time, or some calls received - one part of the keyboard started working - all of it except little joystick) and I still couldn't navigate through menu. Whenever I switch off the phone it goes back to full non-working phase for some time.I can't hard reset it because "green", * and 3 are not working when I switch off the phone, and reseting the phone throug USB is also not working because I can't set my phone to offline mode because I can't use the joystick.

Jul 5, 2010When in dim light the key the keypad light is not coming on when I press any key. I have looked in the manual, tried different settings for the sensor and looked at online forums. No solution exists. The only way to make it work is by blocking the sensor with your finger. Obviously this is not a good solution. Is this a malfunction or is Nokia stupid to design the phone like this? On any model of Nokia on the press of a key the keypad backlight should come on.

May 15, 2010I have recently bought an E71 in Oman, where I work and live, with an Arabic/English keyboard.There is so much squashed on each key (and the English bit was so small) that I have decided to change to an English only keyboard.I have done this at a cost of 15GBP whilst visiting Dubai.It works fine except that some of the keys do not now create on screen what is pressed on the keyboard.For example if i press the '?' or the 'Full stop' is not where it should be.In other words the phone still thinks that i have an Arabic / English keyboard and not an English only keyboard.Its like an American and UK 'PC' keyboard. The @ is located in different places for example.I believe that I need to change a setting or add some software.Can any one advise (simply) what I need to do to correct this issue if possible.links to software, instructions etc.

Jun 4, 2010I got my new e72 (fw up to date 031.023)a couple of days ago and i already found a HUGE problem with the keypad. The keys which have a number (R,T,Y,F,G,H,V,B, N and M) do not work properly!
I found that when typing at a regular speed these keys do not get registered all the time. At first i thought i was nuts and that i just "havn't gotten used to the phone yet" probably to satisfy my emotions of just having bought a completly new phone, having "upgraded" from the e71. For instance.. Without thinking please try typing these words, as you would normally with two thumbs:
I also found when the words start with a number key, everything is okay. But when you press those keys in the middle of a word, or at the end of the word they don't get registered very often (this does not happen with the e71)

May 7, 2010I have a 6300 and when I lock the keypad - pressing joystick then * It locks ok but if it remains locked for a while unlocking it takes a few attempts.It's as if the joystick button needs to be pressed a few times.It is on power saver and sleep mode and when I hit the joystick button there is a darkened screen and I can make out the instruction to hit * but hitting * doesn't unlock it.I then have to hit the joystick button a few times till a brightly lit up screen appears before I can hit * and unlock it.
