Nokia :: N97 - Full Touch QWERTY Onscreen Available
May 22, 2010
There has been a lot of discussion from people posting their desire to have a full-screen, touch QWERTY keyboard available on the N97, and I am in agreement this would be useful. A couple days ago, I was messing around with my N97 (which I am always doing) and needed to enter some text. Hit the screen to enter it and BANG, up popped a full screen QWERTY to use. I didn't think anything of it at the time, I just entered my text and continued. It was a day or so later it actually hit me what had happened. Unfortunately, because of this, I cannot remember what exactly I was doing at that particular time, but whatever it was, it gave me the full QWERTY onscreen. I have no idea if it's part of the new 2.1 beta Jave Runtime available on Betalabs but it's definitely there SOMEWHERE.
For anyone who hasn't tried the new 2.1 Java Runtime, I'd recommend giving it a try. It'll take up around 4mb of space on C: I'm afraid but my N97 has been running a lot better since installing it and I didn't miss the space as I was already running the older 2.0 beta anyway. If I do work out how I got the QWERTY to appear, I will certainly re-post.
In v40 firmware, it is said that Fullscreen QWERTY keyboard has been removed. But I could see it while using Opera Mobile 10. Is there any way so that Fullscreen QWERTY keyboard option is available in other places as well, like in messaging, while using nokia browser etc.
After i updated from v30.something to the latest version, v40.0.005. I updated so i could get free navigation with ovi maps. Now i don't have the choice of full-screen qwerty keyboard anymore! I can only choose between alphanumeric, mini-qwerty or handwriting.
As the title says - updated the phone and now have no option for full screen qwerty input! Everything else working fine - just lost one of the input options, handwriting, mini-qwerty or keypad are all that are left. Annoying as qwertry input was one of the best things about it - handwriting sucks, mini-qwerty is too small and if I wanted an alpha-numeric keypad I would have got a smaller, 'traditional' phone.
I recently updated my 5800's firmware and I a now find that the FULL page qwerty keyboard is no longer an option for inputting text. Can anyone confirm this? Can I go back to the old firmware? I am visually impaired the full page keyboard was very useful.
I am just curious how many Torch users are using the touch screen keyboard to type out messages/emails vs the physical QWERTY? Personally I am trying to use the touchscreen to get super fast @ it. It's tricky at first but I am mastering it quickly!
I'm using Xperia mini pro SK17i and POBox touch for my input. When I use the hardware keyboard, sometimes it would work (I can switch between hiragana / alphabetical input), sometimes it would act just like a normal keyboard (can't switch mode, word suggestion does not appear).
recently i have purchased the C6-01 which is mentioning it does have TV-OUT. How can i make it work with my TV? I have the HD recording and playins support in my mobile as well.
I've been looking for the solution for this for a long time and have not been able to find an answer. Here is my issue: I have a Touch Enabled game that works perfectly well on other touch devices (including Samsung SPH-M800/M810), but not on the newer Samsung Touch Devices A867 onwards.I add the JAD attribute: MIDlet-Touch-Support: True and it removes the Virtual D-Pad, but I am left with an 80 pixel high gray bar at the bottom. I have tried painting specifically to that area with no effect, I've tried set FullScreen(true) in my Canvas class but it doesn't do much.I can't seem to find a way to get rid of this gray bar. Have any of you come across is and solved it?If so, how?
Please suggest a full screen caller for ultra touch. it have caller id pic feature but it only shows on half of the screen. is there any full screen one available?.
I recently purchased my first Blackberry, the Bold 9930. I really love it. My previous mobile was an Apple 3GS. The only real thing I miss about the 3GS and find lacking in my new 9930 is the Bold's lack of an onscreen keypad for dialing phone numbers. The Bold's keyboard is great for typing on but is nowhere near as easy to dial phone numbers as my iPhone 3GS was. Adding an onscreen keypad to the Bold, similar to the one on the 9810 would make the Bold much more user friendly. Especially too people coming over from the iPhone or android phones.
My phone is shutting down. I already tried to sync it and update it but it goes blank right now the apple logo is on but itunes doesn't find my iphone and when it do and I upgrade it, its still shuts down after a while.
I received my X6 from T-Mobile today and found that during text entry in portrait there is only the alphanumeric keyboard, not the mini QWERTY that my aunt's 5800 has. Is this normal, or has T-Mobile disabled it? It seems weird to have the button for changing keyboards, and only having the option of selecting the 1 keyboard that there is.
On the instruction, it clearly says I could hide the onscreen keypad by pressing the "back" key, this also works on my friend's phone. This doesn't work on mine, whether messaging or composing an email, when I press the "back" key it takes me back previous screen. It is really annoying as the screen is small and when you are typing a long-ish text you having to look at it through 1/3 of the screen! I reset the phone twice now and also downloaded the sony ericsson update launcher and have the latest software on the phone now, but this keypad problem still remain.
When you type a message / email on the on screen keyboard, there used to be a key to send your message from the screen that has been taken off. now i have to slide the Tablet open and send from the keyboard. Any reason/any fixes or settings that i might have missed? or it there something i can do to correct this?
After updating my software I have lost the option of selecting the larger (and easiest to use!) qwerty keyboard, I only have the option of mini, alpha & handwriting? how can I get it back, incidentally the full size option is available when using the internet
Coming from a N70, I consider upgrading to a X6. However, I found typing on my wife's 5800 (landscape qwerty mode) quite erroneous and hard to get used to. Can anyone who has used both the 5800 and the X6 intensively let me know how they compare in terms of typing ease and speed?
I just bought a Nokia N97 Mini with a QWERTY lay-out keyboard. However, when I press the keys, for example the Q, I get an A as input. How can I change these settings to also have the QWERTY input? I have tried changing my country and language settings, no help.
I like the new qwerty keypad always prefer a qwerty over a simple one,but I'm facing a problem that the keypad in my N8 is not completely accurate, often I press some key and another undesired key is pressed and often I have to apply some pressure on the screen as it doesn't responses to my touch.
error: Randomly I am unable to answer calls due to onscreen keyboard being in the way of the slider.I have updated to Build Number:4.0.A.2.368 via the Sony Ericsson Companion Software.
Updated my 5800 software which sorted out the problem with my maps but my full QWERTY has gone. I miss it! I'm left with the other options including the mini QWERTY but it's not the same. Tried turning off and taking the battery out but it didn't work. Any ideas? Do I need to restore factory settings I want my QWERTY back!
After updating to new firmware via online. Whenever I type using the qwerty keyboard the letters do not appear in the box. Although they are there i.e. when I go back to message screen then what I have typed is there. Anyone who has same problems along with a solution please.
I have a Nokia E7 product code 059F7J6 (language set 014.002.09.01). Phone language and writing language is set to english but I have a problem with the QWERTY keypad. Keypad special characters (the one in yellow) on the keypad do not correspond with the special characters printed on the screen. Example letter D should print "&" as a special character instead it prints "=". It's the with almost all other characters. I am not sure whether this is a language pack problem or not.
I just bought the new Nokia 5233 phone.Whenever the phone is locked and I set a alarm. There is no way i can stop the alaram other than to reset the alarm manually by alarms-> edit.
There will be two touch buttons that apper on the otuch screen. One to stop and other to snooze the alarm. Even If press them, it wont work. The alaram keeps ringing. I even tried clicking on the green button and the menu botton at the bottom. Still no use. I cant even unlock the phone. Only thing i can do is press the red button at the end, which will snooze the alarm. After this, I have to manually change the alarm time.
The same thing happens even with phone calls. I cannot use the touch button that apper on the touch screen. I have to use the green and red button at the bottom. These problem come into picture only if the phone is locked. Otherwise it works fine.
