Nokia Nseries :: Keypad Always Prefer A Qwerty Over A Simple One?
Nov 26, 2011
I like the new qwerty keypad always prefer a qwerty over a simple one,but I'm facing a problem that the keypad in my N8 is not completely accurate, often I press some key and another undesired key is pressed and often I have to apply some pressure on the screen as it doesn't responses to my touch.
I was just wondering why my Nokia N97 mini has a QWERTZ keypad and not a QWERTY keypad. It's a RM-555. I don't understand, the Y and Z keys have swapped places, doesn't make sense to me!
I have a Nokia E7 product code 059F7J6 (language set 014.002.09.01). Phone language and writing language is set to english but I have a problem with the QWERTY keypad. Keypad special characters (the one in yellow) on the keypad do not correspond with the special characters printed on the screen. Example letter D should print "&" as a special character instead it prints "=". It's the with almost all other characters. I am not sure whether this is a language pack problem or not.
Symbian has been around for a very long time but I'm still struggling to find asimple free text editor where I can create a *.txt file and write down information in it or perhaps I don't know about it, so I was wondering is anyone familiar in any free text editor compatible with Belle?
Anybody know where I can get a replacement qwerty keypad for my 9700 with the red-numbers like the OEM and Rogers 9000 Bolds have? I loved it on my blacked out Bold...and really don't like the all white AT&T keypad. I've looked at Cnn.cn and TrueSupplier...and neither one of those sources have them.
I'm new on this forum.I have a blackberry Pearl 8120 with a qwerty keypad, but the software recognised it as an azerty keypad.Anyone knows how to configure the keypad?
For some strange reason the keypad that comes with Xperia mini pro doesn't work at all except when trying to unlock the screen. This is seen after the ICS Update (done today).
Android Version - 4.0.4 Build number - 4.1.B.0.431
The on-screen keypad seems to work OK.Anybody seen this after updating their mini-pros....Checked that 'Xperia keyboard' service is running. The input method in the keyboard setting is 'Xperia keyboard'.
When the phone's on, and i try using the keypad to either to type out a text or to move around the menu, the phone hangs / keypad doesnt work. I dont know whether its the phone hanging or the keypad problem because the screen goes dark, and i cant revive it, but its still on, and i have to restart the phone, but the same thing keeps happening. I tried hard reseting my phone, that didnt work either.
I found that I can't use the numeric keypad while calling with my N8. Is it possible to show the numerica keypad as possible as other Symbian devices are?
Because of that issue, I can't listen to my voicemails because you need to send dialing signals to use your voicemail box.
I have had this fantastic phone for a couple of days now but I have one minor niggle, how on earth do I switch off the automatic keypad lock ?, I do not mean how do I unlock the keypad, I mean the lock that automatically comes on when the phone is left idle, I've scoured the manual and can't seem to find it
Yesterday when i was doing text chat suddenly my side keypad lock stopped responding, am not able to lock or unlock using that key. If i push it down its staying down only and if i push it up its staying up not able to even turn on the flash light on with long downward push.
My "screen saver" is set to none so as soon as i lock the keypad it should black out (maximum battery)... But at the moment its staying illuminated with the battery draining before my eyes!
Strangely enough, I do. I miss 4.0 over the 4.0.1 I had to restore to after my 4.0 restore froze up using SHSH blob. I know it makes no difference for reception, and I know that 4.0.1 reports it more accurately, and it's small, but I preferred easily attaining full bars and being lied to :P
I bought my phone from Amazon (unlocked version) and as such I dont have the T-Mobile factory software installed. On my old phone I could specify to pick wifi over mobile network.
I recently upgraded from a Bionic to a RAZR MAXX, and really liking the phone except for one thing: whilst it performs great at my home, it spends a lot of time falling back from LTE to 3G at my work. There is LTE coverage at my work, anywhere between 1-3 bars, whereas 3G is 4-5 bars. I understand the 3G signal is stronger, however the LTE signal is still strong enough to actually work, and I really DO NOT want the RAZR preferring the slower 3G signal at my work, as one of the main tasks I use it for is as a hotspot.
The Bionic used to consistently remain on LTE at my work, however a couple of weeks ago it had begun exhibiting similar behaviour as the RAZR MAXX above - preferring the 3G signal over the LTE.i initially thought Verizon must have made some network changes here - and it's possible they did - however as a test I put my SIM back into my old HTC Thunderbolt, which I had before either the Bionic or the RAZR MAXX.
The Thunderbolt consistently holds the LTE signal and does NOT fall back to 3G.Since the Bionic and RAZR MAXX perform differently to the Thunderbolt, I'm guessing it's either some Motorola vs HTC RF chipset difference, or perhaps the algorithms in the Motorola phones purposely selecting 3G to preserve battery. Is there any way to force the RAZR MAXX to hold on to the LTE signal, rather than keep falling back to the 3G signal? Perhaps in some app, or some super-secret debug mode? It's a RAZR MAXX - I don't mind sacrificing some battery to hold on the the weaker-but-faster LTE signal.
I am connected to my home wifi on the phone, but for some reason when I am browsing the web or trying to download apps from bb app world it uses my mobile network data services. Is there a way I can specify the phone to pick up wifi over the Mobile Services when connected to a wifi Network?
I received my X6 from T-Mobile today and found that during text entry in portrait there is only the alphanumeric keyboard, not the mini QWERTY that my aunt's 5800 has. Is this normal, or has T-Mobile disabled it? It seems weird to have the button for changing keyboards, and only having the option of selecting the 1 keyboard that there is.
When you type a message / email on the on screen keyboard, there used to be a key to send your message from the screen that has been taken off. now i have to slide the Tablet open and send from the keyboard. Any reason/any fixes or settings that i might have missed? or it there something i can do to correct this?
After updating my software I have lost the option of selecting the larger (and easiest to use!) qwerty keyboard, I only have the option of mini, alpha & handwriting? how can I get it back, incidentally the full size option is available when using the internet
There has been a lot of discussion from people posting their desire to have a full-screen, touch QWERTY keyboard available on the N97, and I am in agreement this would be useful. A couple days ago, I was messing around with my N97 (which I am always doing) and needed to enter some text. Hit the screen to enter it and BANG, up popped a full screen QWERTY to use. I didn't think anything of it at the time, I just entered my text and continued. It was a day or so later it actually hit me what had happened. Unfortunately, because of this, I cannot remember what exactly I was doing at that particular time, but whatever it was, it gave me the full QWERTY onscreen. I have no idea if it's part of the new 2.1 beta Jave Runtime available on Betalabs but it's definitely there SOMEWHERE.
For anyone who hasn't tried the new 2.1 Java Runtime, I'd recommend giving it a try. It'll take up around 4mb of space on C: I'm afraid but my N97 has been running a lot better since installing it and I didn't miss the space as I was already running the older 2.0 beta anyway. If I do work out how I got the QWERTY to appear, I will certainly re-post.
Coming from a N70, I consider upgrading to a X6. However, I found typing on my wife's 5800 (landscape qwerty mode) quite erroneous and hard to get used to. Can anyone who has used both the 5800 and the X6 intensively let me know how they compare in terms of typing ease and speed?
I know there is a number screening option, but i requires a specific number to be blocked. The problem is when a person wants to block an anonymous call.i wounder if there is a code that represents an incoming private call that way we could insert that code on the number to be screened.
Im on vista,Ive downloaded the flasher program but i really am stuck on the fact that when i do all the commands etc it always says waiting for device. not found.my n900 screen is dark but shows the usb in the corner and nokia on the screen.can someone create a simple step-by-step guide (simpler than the one on maemo.org)starting from like opening command prompt
In v40 firmware, it is said that Fullscreen QWERTY keyboard has been removed. But I could see it while using Opera Mobile 10. Is there any way so that Fullscreen QWERTY keyboard option is available in other places as well, like in messaging, while using nokia browser etc.
