So I'm planning on selling my 16 GB iPhone 3GS on eBay, but unlocking or jail breaking it before I do so. I'm looking to upgrade to the new iPhone 4, even though I don't qualify for the $199 price. Can someone give me step by step directions on how to do this? Specifically regarding what to do with my sim card and how to buy the new one. Any help would be appreciated thank you!
I have just this morning got my nokia n900, second hand from ebay. before i put any files on there i want to restore it completely, but this flashing thing is really confusing me. I've done a search of the boards but it baffles me, so if anyone could answer these questions it'd be really helpful:
1) how do i completely wipe it as though it were brand new? (not 'restore original settings' in settings menu, i mean the equivelant of a hard reset)
2) how do i determine what firmware i'm on?
3) what is 'flashing'? is it necessary? if i connect my phone to pc suite/NSU to check for updates, will it work as it does on S60 eg nokia 5800, or do i need another method?
4) i gather the latest firmware isn't yet available for the UK. how do i go about installing it given the n900 doesn't require a changed product code like other models?
I have imported from Google Earth, thousands of POIs in Food categories for entire Brazil country, very ease: simply I get the KML file and converted it with Gps Babel to Nokia places format, click the file in the File manger, it asks which I want import, them I selected ALL, that works fine. But it put these POIs in my Favorites instead of General POIs, and did not included the subcategories of the Type of Food (Like Chinese, Pizza, French, Barbecue etc.). Not satisfied, because this and because it turned very slow, I want delete ALL these Favorites, but the only way I found to do this, is one BY ONE, I not found a way to delete ALL Favorites in one path only. In summary, my question is: What is the procedure to delete ALL my Favorites together?
I have finally solved the issue of setting you the BBC iplayer so it asks you how you would like to connect when you run the application rather then it always by default connecting to the service provider in my case (orange).
Step 1 - download the newest software update for the N97 you will need software version V 20.0.019 software version date is 13-10-09.
Step 2 - download the latest BBC iplayer version this should be version 2.5.0(141).
Step 3 - from the phone go to menu then go to web once opened go to options then settings once in settings go to general and set access point to ask when needed.
Step 4 - from menu go to Videos & TV go to option in Video and TV then settings and set network connection to ask when needed if its not already set to this.
Step 5 - from menu go to settings then connectivity then destinations then internet and set your required WIFI connection to priority 1.
Step 6 - from menu go to applications then open realplayer then settings then go to streaming settings then network and the access point in use should display your required WIFI connection e.g. mine shows my home network talktalk. If your required network is not displayed then open the access point in use and select the required WIFI connection.
Step 7 - turn your phone off and take out the battery for 2mins then turn your phone back on.
Step 8 - when the phone turns on and the phone displays select connection you should see internet underneath it should be displayed your WIFI connection. Do not select anything. Instead go to options then go to select access point and choose your service provider e.g. orange Internet.
Step 9 - once your phone is set-up and all widgets are set all you have to do to use BBC iplayer is go to options on the home screen select content to offline mode then content to online mode then open the BBC iplayer. The phone will then ask for a connection select your wifi connection and your away.
i hope the above steps help you and work as they worked for me just remember after you do the 8 steps above you only need to repeat step 8 everytime you wish to use BBC iplayer.
My relevant background - I live in Los Angeles, owned an HTC HD7S for more than a year and just recently got a Lumia 920. I like everything about my new 920 except vibration noise, and this horrid Nokia Maps app which is forced on us...Problems with Nokia Maps:Lack of integration with the rest of the operating system. Nokia maps is an island to itself. I click an address from a people hub contact, it opens Windows Phone Maps, not Nokia Maps. I click an address from a Bing search which has a dedicated hardware button, and it opens Windows Phone Maps, not Nokia Maps. I click an address in an email, you guessed it, it opens Windows Phone maps. Searching in Nokia Maps has terrible resultsI tried 3 searches today during the course of my day using Nokia Maps. Si Laa is a Thai restaurant I wanted to try a few miles from my house with an obviously unique name. The results I get are for Joyce Cafe, something in Germany and Slovenia. Next I try UPS in hopes it will find the company owned UPS Customer Center a quarter mile from my house. It doesn't find it at all, but does find alot of ups stores that are further away. Nokia Maps choked on another restaurant in Beverly Hills I tried to find. My wife's iPhone 4s had no problems with any of these. Local surface street traffic info is missingOn the Lumia 920, I don't get any surface street traffic info. I do see traffic info for highways and freeways. I used to get local surface street traffic on my old HD7S Windows Map. Windows Phone Maps shows some sporadic street traffic data but is not quite right either. I called Nokia about it, the level 1 techie tells me I'm supposed to have local street traffic but has no further explanation and has escalated to level 2...Nokia removed the Windows Phone Maps.As shown in the first point above, Windows maps is still clearly on the phone, but Nokia removed the tile for it from the app list. There doesn't seem to be a way to directly open Windows maps. This would be fine except that Nokia maps, which is supposed to be the replacement, is worse than Windows Phone maps in so many ways. There isn't a single reason to use Nokia Maps over Windows Phone Maps. The only reason I use it is because Nokia has seen fit to make Windows Phone Maps hard to start by removing it from the apps list.Nokia should leave both map apps available and in the apps list. If Nokia Maps is the superior product, people will use it. Right now I'd say Windows Phone maps is superior in every way and that's a shame for Nokia who is supposed to be a mapping leader...
wifi signal lost once trying to connect ovi store.despite having wifi connected, ovi still say "no mobile data" connection. few sec later wifi disconnected.how to close in one step all open applications

When trying to update a Nokia N95 I am getting the message "Expired Certificate" after the step Install MMS Sync.On the computer it is saying installation complete? Is the installation complete or is the expired certificate a problem?
I can't believe that RIM designed such a stupid charging pod for the Torch! I had the pod for my 9700 and that was slick with those little metal contacts on the bottom. Very easy to just drop phone into pod. But with the new Torch, the pod is a physical connection into the micro USB port on the side of the phone!! What were they thinking??!! Isn't the idea of a pod supposed to be for the ultimate in charging ease and to prevent unnecessary wear on the USB connection?
I have an HP mini and I am trying to sync my itunes with my iphone 4s. It has been on step 2 of 6 for the past 2 hours, how long should it take to completely sync? I have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes and still it is taking forever. Is this normal? Is there a step I am missing somewhere?

My xperia x10 give notice there is update andriod 2.1 available but when i try to update. It finished till step two and after close phone and reconnect and step three update never start. I am currently using a variable stride elliptical trainer Precor 100i.When using device with watchband, the step count always shows zero. When using the device with armband, the step count is very inconsistent depending on the orientation on the arm (i.e. 40 50 % Difference Between workouts). When using the device with the hip clip the device is consistent within 5% which is good enough. In regards to the watchband. The directions say to not place your hands on the stationary part of the Elliptical. That make sense and since my hands are on the moving parts of the Elliptical I would assume that the multi-axis accelerometer would not have an issue keeping the step count.
I would also assume that the multi-axis accelerometer would not have an issue keeping the step count regardless of orientation on the arm (i.e. Up, Down, Side)I want to use the watchband so that I can get periodic updates on my workout intensity.
I am updating my xperia mini using pc companion, but I always stuck in step 2, when they tell follow this instructions then I follow, I disconnect the usb to the laptop then turn off the phone an then plug the usb again then press and hold the volume down while plugging the usb to phone and nothing happens..
