View 5 RepliesI'm sure this is a simple one to those of you who have been using the N900 a while, but when using the virtual keyboard, how do you accept the suggested word while typing? I've tried every arrow on the keyboard and am stumped.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have recently acquiredthe 5230 and cannot access the virtual keyboard from the keyboard icon in messaging I only get the handwriting /alphanumeric option to choose when the keyboard icon is touched. I don't to have a "text input" option in "settings" as I have seen this suggested in other answers to keyboard problems but these were for differnt phones.Appreciate any advice.
View 4 Replies View RelatedJust got my torch last night! yayyy! I did read in one of the threads there is a way to bring the virtual keyboard down by swiping up and down (I think). But when I do that, I always open the manage connections option. Can someone explain how to get it to show wo opening the physical keyboard?

View 2 Replies View RelatedToday adventitiously i found bug. If in album mode tap on key "12!?", release and without delay tap on space then process com.sonyericsson.textinput.uxp dies. This is no so critical, but service restarts(?) with broken functionality: text in field is not visible and phisycal keyboards can't change layout.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have the torch 9800 and there appears to be a bug with the on screen keyboard. After viewing a few pdf files in Repligo Reader I went to compose an email. I noticed that the on screen virtual keyboard was missing the outlines around the individual keys and the alt, shift, language selection and delete keys are not displayed. Also the background of the keyboard is all gunmetal grey and the keys are white with no outlines as mentioned above. I can still use the keys, touch the area where the keys are not displayed and the functionality remains intact. This happens in both horizontal and vertical mode. If I change the vertical keyboard to compact mode in options the vertical keyboard is displayed normally. I have reproduced this issue, reported it to the Repligo Reader developer and the only way to resolve it is a hard reset or full device restart.

iPhone 4, iOS 5.1
I got my E7 yesterday and encountered a problem today. When I try to write an sms or email on the virtual keyboard (phone slide closed in portrait format), the screen is not responsive at all. The screen is responsive when I press the "write message" icon on the homescreen, I can press any icon etc. and the phone works. Only when I open the virtual keyboard, does it stop responding. Only way out of the screen is to press the physical key on the bottom of the phone.
Anyone else encountered this? Could there be some weird setting that prevents me from using the virtual keyboard? The physical keyboard works fine.
When I close slider, the virtual key board do not appear, rotation function also. I use a magnet torch in the back of cellfone, virtual keyboard appear and use normally, but when open slider and close, it back to old trouble.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using Torch 9800. Currently, the virtual keyboard doesn't appear when slider is closed. The indicator is also grey (not active). In the menu, "show keyboard" item is not listed. When I take the headset in landscape position, the screen is still in Portrait mode.

View 2 Replies View RelatedUsing the Admiral on the Sprint Network. Unless I'm missing something, it would appear that this phone did not come pre-loaded with a virtual keyboard. I use a LogMeIn Ignition to remotely access our work computers from the phone, but when I need to type numbers they don't register from the physical keyboard. Ignition has a softkey to bring up the virtual keyboard, but since one was not pre-loaded on the phone it doesn't pull anything up. I installed a couple of different virtual keyboards from the Market, but still no luck. Is there an update that includes a virtual keyboard as part of the operating software package? This app works fine on my Android tablet, pulls up the virtual keyboard and the numbers register.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhile typing text either in emails or messages, I fail to see how to accept autocorrected entries via the virtual keyboard. On the hardware keyboard it is done by pressing > key (itself not very convenient), but I haven't found any way of doing it on the software keyboard.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe backlighting of my keyboard has completely stopped, along with the notification light. Noticed it a few days ago.I've checked the notification settings and nothing has been changed, but the light no longer works/indicates for any functions. The loss of backlighting for the keyboard is the issue that I find the most concerning. Other than these two issues, I really couldn't be more pleased with my N900 and the Maemo experience.
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy N900 has Scandinavian (Finnish) keyboard. After installing a couple of games(Duke nukem 3d and Abuse) and I think one of these probably crashed, it got left in US keyboard mode (I think). I see that there is a new file created called /home/user/int_kb_layout that has string "us" inside it. Just deleting this file and restarting the phone does not help. Searching around I find that perhaps some tool called /usr/bin/gconftool-2 might need to be used, but I got more confused. Therefore I might ask in general how one can get back their default keyboard maps for their N900?
View 3 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know how to setup the N900 so it sees a stowaway bluetooth keyboard? I'm not knowledgable with Linux code so you would have to provide all detail if I had to make script adjustments. I'm sure this has been done but maemo.org usually talks at programmers level on tasks such as this one.
View 15 Replies View RelatedMy N900 got in a deep coma after the battery ran empty. I managed to get it out after flashing the device with the vanilla image and the latest OS following the instructions on the Meamo WIKI: https://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_tablet_firmware Flashing through windows didn't work (almost sent it to Nokia) but booting fom an Ubuntu USB stick and flash the N900 did do the trick at the end. The following images are flashed: RX-51_2009SE_1.2009.41-1.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM.bin RX-51_2009SE_ 3.2010.02 -8.002 _PR_COMBINED_002_ARM.bin. The device seem to work OK again until I tried to enter some text from the keyboard. Some characters now seem to be inter connected: when I enter an 'a' it becomes 'oa' when I enter an 'o' it becomes also 'oa' when I enter an 'x' it becomes '.x' when I enter an '.' it becomes also '.x' when I enter an 'd' it becomes 'dk' when I enter an 'k' it becomes also 'dk' when I enter an '#' it becomes '#&'when I enter an '&' it becomes also '#&' I verified 'text input' and 'languageŽional settings' under 'setting' but nothing seems to be wrong there. I don't us any custom dictionairy. The vitual keyboard work normal. It pretty much sucks when the keyboard can't be used. does anybody has a solution for this issue?
