BB Tour 9630 :: Lost All Contacts How To Retrieve?
Mar 3, 2010Hopefully you crackberry addicts can help me out! I go to look at a text message and it no longer says from a contact, instead, a phone number. I look at my contacts and they're all gone. No updates were going on, nothing. I'm running os 5.0.0.419. I tried a battery pull and it did nothing.

I really only want my school and gmail emails to come through to my phone and would like my hotmail account (spam/misc. account) to only be accessible when I go into the actual email account, and not get 100 emails an hour from it. Is this possible?

Jun 12, 2010I woke up this morning to find my entire contact list deleted from the Contacts application, however when I open an email or an SMS, all of the contact information is there for that particular person. When I look at the call log, the information is also there.I have a backup done on Friday (yesterday) on Outlook at my office (not on work server since they all use IPhones for that. I prefer my blackberry so I use the non-server syncing)...is there another way to get this information back or do I need to wait to resync on Monday?
I had a lot of apps on there that I don't use, so I deleted the off this morning to help get some memory back. I haven't yet done a battery pull on my phone...will doing one affect anything or should I just do it to help clear the memory up and make room for contacts?

Jan 11, 2010I'm on 4.7.x whatever so I open the email, click on the blackberry.com/update link, click on the link on that page, it launches desktop manager, which proceeds to tell me. Anyone else get an email from RIM this afternoon?

Oct 16, 2012My father just passed away a few days ago and I wanted to keep the conversations we had over text messages, but it was over 30 days ago and it just deleted a conversation we had on September 13th. I've been trying all day to see if there is a way to retrieve the text messages, but I can't find a way. I will do ANYTHING as these are memories I will only be able to hold onto. Is there a way to retrieve the text messages by sending the device to RIM for them to retrieve or anything?

Apr 29, 2010Since installing os 5 on my Verizon 9630, my text messages are being deleted after 2 days even though I am not deleting them. Texts older than 2 days no longer appear when I click on SMS/MMS on my home screen. Is there a setting I dont know about? When I was running 4.7 all my text messages appeared until I manually deleted them.

Mar 5, 2010I am new here so please be kind if I am not up to speed.Looked through a bunch of other threads and have found nothing.My email is being deleted on my 9630 after 1-2 hours if I don't open it.
If I open a message it will be there indefinitely, but if I don't open a message it only stays in the inbox for one to two hours, then just disappears.I come into work in the morning and there are 20 or so unopened emails in my POP3 account, but only one or two on my phone, and none older than an hour or so.
Been testing this and, like clock work, the emails are deleted even though I have not erased or even opened them in my outlook app or on the POP3 server.Has anyone else had this issue Verizon has had me do both soft and hard resets of the phone with no solution.Maybe I got a special "Tiger Woods Edition 9630"?
BB Tour 9630 :: Emails Deleted From POP Mailbox But Not On BB
Mar 5, 2010Searched around for a bit, and most threads on this topic seem to be related to using BES.I had a Curve up until last week. When I delete messages in Outlook on my PC (standard POP mailbox, not Exchange), they would usually disappear from my BB within 30 minutes. Now I upgraded to a Tour last week and this is not happening, I have to delete in both places. I'm sure it is just a simple setting I am missing but can't find where it should be. I do have the reconciliation: on conflicts: set to Mailbox wins.
Other then this, really enjoying the Tour. I'll be going overseas next month so we'll see how well Verizon handles that.
BB Tour 9630 :: Accidentally Deleted App Folder
Mar 18, 2010I moved many of my most-used business apps to the Tools folder, then, while trying to move it I accidentally deleted it. Where did all the apps go and how do I get them back, or can I restore the old folder? The online message says the apps are moved to the bottom of the home screen but my home screen doesn't have any apps, only folders.

Sep 13, 2010Somehow I lingered over the delete too long or something and the confirm came up for one of my contacts. I rolled down to cancel, but after I clicked it jumped back up to delete and removed my contact. Currently, I do not have a back up of my database as it has been a bit more difficult than with my last phone and computer. Let's face it.... I've been procrastinating in tacking the project!
Does anyone know if it is possible to retrieve this contact? I figure the info still has to be somewhere on the phone..

Mar 9, 2010I use gmail for my email accounts and there are times when I try and delete and email from my bb using the delete and/or the delete from handheld and on the server function.but the email doesn't delete from the handheld. Is there a reason for this?

Mar 12, 2010if i delete an email on my handheld it does not delete from my actual gmail account. in fact, it doesnt even say that its read. well, on the computer next to inbox it doesnt say any are new, but when i look at the inbox, i still have the emails and it shows them bolded like they were not read at all. when i delete on my bb, nothing happens to gmail. i tried deleting my gmail address from my phone, resending service books, battery pulls but none of that has resolved. i made sure that handheld wins was set to on under wireless reconciliation and in the VZW BIS control/email settings i have it set to sync deleted emails.
i tried fooling around with the contact sync a few days ago but stopped it becaues it wasnt working (this is the only new thing ive done with my bb in the last week or so). i also downoaded the new socialbeat app from verizon/iskoot. but other than that nothing is new in the last few days. i am running driphters 6.3 on top of whatever OS its supp to be installed on (.484 i think?). dont just jump to that as the problem because i have had it for almost a month and have not had a problem until now (that i tried that stupid contact sync bullsht).
BB Tour 9630 :: Custom Ringtones Deleted But Still Playing
May 19, 2010I got my first BlackBerry a couple of months ago, the Tour 9630 with Verizon, which I've loved to far, except. Last week I created a couple of ring tones from two mp3 files and downloaded them in my BlackBerry without setting up with any feature, but they set themselves up as regular ring tones and I cannot stop them from playing now!
Since the day after I downloaded them, every time I've received a new e-mail, I've gotten my regular ring tone (GungHo) and then custom ring tone #1 starts playing and is unstoppable unless I completely turn off the BlackBerry! So I deleted it from the My Ring Tones folder, but that hasn't changed a thing. I've tried to change my regular e-mail ring tone and the change got implemented, so I get the new ring tone I've just set, but I still get custom ring tone # 1 right after! And it is almost 1 minute long!
Other weird thing, custom ring tone # 2 has started playing every time I hang up my phone! Who needs that?! I haven't deleted that one yet from the My Ring Tones folder because I'm not sure if that'll help, but this is extremely frustrating.

Sep 7, 2010I didn't realize the contacts from my e-mail were synchronized with my BB. I deleted contacts in my e-mail and to my surprise it deleted the contacts from my BB as well. Is there anyway to restore just the missing contact information from the handset? If not, is there any hope of restoring these contacts?

Sep 15, 2010It's set to delete on Handheld and Mailbox (mailbox wins). When the user deletes the message on the BB, the message deletes in Outlook. When he deletes a message in his Outlook Inbox, it won't delete. The message will finally delete after being deleted from the deleted folder in Outlook, however, it's supposed to delete when cleared from the inbox.

Feb 8, 2010Can you replace a tour trackball with a curve one? I heard somewhere that it was possible. I changed the housing in my Tour to make it white but the trackball doesn't sit right and i have a problem scrolling down. I can't seem to get the trackball to sit properely in this housing its just not centered. If i can put a curve trackball in, which model curve do i use?

Feb 12, 2010I've developed a problem with my 9630 (carrier: Sprint) recently. I won't receive emails on it for quite a while, but once I open my Internet browser, all of the emails I received since the last time I opened it will come through at once. If I check my messages, they're all listed as coming through at the same time, but inside the email, they're datestamped at the actual time they were sent.
Any ideas as to what it could be? I haven't changed any settings recently, the problem started independent of anything else, from what I can tell. It seems like a problem with my phone not checking for new emails until it uses data services (internet browser).

May 30, 2010I've researched my problem on other posts, and still not completely sure if my problem is unique or not.I have an unlocked Sprint 9630 I grabbed from our IT department before a trip to Turkey. It was supposedly deactivated - turns out it is still active on a Sprint number.
I've replaced the Sprint SIM with an Avea Turkish prepaid SIM that has data and Blackberry capability. It works fine for phone and text, but no ability to register the email with Avea Blackberry. Tech support there unable to determine the problem (unable to connect to server is the error message, both with phone and online).If I can deactive the Sprint number will that help? Or am I just out of luck.

Jan 25, 2010I have an issue with my BB Tour.When I woke up this mourning and took my bb off the charger.I notice there were HLhlhlhlhlhlhlhlhhlhl type on my bb so I tried to press the esc button and the end button and it didn't work. So I did a Battery pull and let it load up...and that when i found out that my trackball wasn't working.then all a sudden it started to type the HLlhlhlhlhlhlhhlhlh again.So I did a another battery pull and it did it again.So I wiped the phone decided to install 5.0 on my phone and I get the same thing.The only thing I did before my phone went hay wire was a couple days prior.I downloaded a couple free themes and screen saver from BB App World.I thought by doing the battery pull and wipe I would fix it but didn't. I know I didn't get my phone wet or anything can anybody explain this?

Jul 14, 2010I just updated the software on my Blackberry Tour and now my calendar is behaving as it did two software generics ago! Specifically, when I change and appointment to a future date and then save that appointment, the calendar moves to that future date! This is terrible if you are moving several items out to future dates! Previously, the changed entry would just disappear from the screen (moved to the new, future date) and I would remain on the day I was working on.Secondly, when I open a future day in calendar, the “All Day Events” do not show first (as they used to). Instead you have to scroll up to see if there are any of these type events.Does anyone know of a way to change these settings/defaults.

Mar 12, 2010Just went from a storm 1 to a tour and I am loving it. I can't believe how much more app. memory I have!
However, I cannot get my tour device to show up in windows explorer. It connects and I can browse my media card. There is no drive in windows explorer for the device itself. I can connect to desktop manager and back-up my device memory so I know the computer can read my blackberry device. I upgraded the os with no problems.
I am running vista home premium with blackberry os 5.0 from sprint. I am on verizon. I do have mass storage mode enabled and all of those memory settings set to yes (auto connect, etc.). BBSAK and Blackberry Master Control Program see the device as well. I do not use roxio media manager and it is not installed with my desktop manager. It was too slow and clunky when I had my storm so I never bothered with it.

Feb 10, 2010After I installed the new operating system I lost a feature. Both my husband and I have the Tour. For example, if you highlight the Games folder and press the Blackberry options, one Tour can choose "edit folder" and pick a new Icon. The other Tour mine is missing that choice. Any fix? If I create my own folder, I have the feature, but not for my Games, Applications and other folder that were there in the old OS.

Jun 9, 2010I dropped my Tour and scratched up the bezel, and made the dumb decision to replace it. Long story short, I messed up switching over the buttons, and I stripped the screw putting it back in, so there's no going back to fix it. Now, when I press the keyboard lock button, it doesn't work. I figured out that I can hold down "A" on the homescreen to lock it, but now how do I unlock it?!
And PS: DON'T CHANGE YOUR HOUSING/BEZEL! I would much rather have a dinged up bezel than the situation I'm in now. Looks like I'm stuck with this Tour 'till December. I hope that people listen to my housing advice, and not be naive and ignore others like I did!
