BB Tour :: 9630 'Insert SIM Card' After Quick Reset
Jun 21, 2010
I have a Blackberry tour 9630, and for no logical reason it started saying "insert SIM card" after I reset the phone. I've tried a battery pull, and that did nothing. In fact, I have no idea if my service provider, US Cellular, even uses a SIM card. Is this something I will have to discuss with my service provider or is this something I can fix? I can't seem to even see a SIM card on the phone.
I updated my BlackBerry software to the latest version 5.0.0 last week, and ever since then I have to charge my battery 2-3 times a day - if I don't use my phone/text/etc. If I use my phone, I've had to charge it as many as 5 times a day. I do not have Bluetooth enabled (only turn it on when I need it - have not used it since software update) and I have not added any additional applications since the software update. My File Free is showing 95329645 Bytes, and pulling the battery does not solve the problem.
I delete my text messages throughout the day, and also delete my emails that come in. I've looked through the knowledgebase and have tried various methods to supposedly help battery life - nothing has helped so far.
I have all of my applications and versions listed in my Biography (wasn't reallyy sure where to put all the info) and have my privacy set to all.
what I can do to stop the battery draining, I depend heavily on my BlackBerry and right now, it's not helping me at all.
Just went from a storm 1 to a tour and I am loving it. I can't believe how much more app. memory I have!
However, I cannot get my tour device to show up in windows explorer. It connects and I can browse my media card. There is no drive in windows explorer for the device itself. I can connect to desktop manager and back-up my device memory so I know the computer can read my blackberry device. I upgraded the os with no problems.
I am running vista home premium with blackberry os 5.0 from sprint. I am on verizon. I do have mass storage mode enabled and all of those memory settings set to yes (auto connect, etc.). BBSAK and Blackberry Master Control Program see the device as well. I do not use roxio media manager and it is not installed with my desktop manager. It was too slow and clunky when I had my storm so I never bothered with it.
I plan on giving away my 9630 Tour because I got a new phone, so I was wondering, do I need to remove the SIM card from the device? I've never used the Tour out of the country and my phone line is already on my new phone. I've already wiped it clean and reinstalled a fresh OS 5.0.
I have a Blackberry Tour with the new 5.0 from VZW on it. I want to reset the phone to the factory out of the box settings. I can't figure out how to do it. I found the instructions for the 4.7 OS but the steps are not the same. I don't want to use BBSak or anything. There has to be a way just using the phone, right?
I'm about to lose it completely with this error. I've tried so many "fixes" but none of them work. Here's my problem:
My phone loads up and:
I get an old background I've never used I cannot make a call I cannot open my email I cannot open my text I cannot open my voicemail I cannot open my browser
All attempts to do so freeze my phone and result in the unhappy "App Error 523" with the only option to reset.
It gets better...
Battery Pulls do nothing. All attempts to connect to my PC result in the unhappy error. All attempts to do a diagnosis result in the unhappy error.
I really have no idea what to do and all technical support from blackberry leads to dead ends and no result.
Pioneer Tour 9630 I cannot get into the phone for any OS Version, I assume it is relatively current as the phone is less than two months old.
A battery pull did not fix the issue
The apps I loaded were google earth, a GPS Navigation system, ESPN, and weather.
All my phone will do is show a white screen with Error 503 Reset. I have tried taking the battery out and that did not work. All it get is a white screen with a little timer in the middle for 3 or 4 minutes.
It will not connect or do anything with the desktop manager. I have tried the launcher to get it connected, but to no avail.
I had the sotweare problem that everyone has been having lastley yesterday an i couldt fix it in anyway and today i was like wat the heck let me give it another try to i plug my phone in the computer open desktop manager (5.0) an i pressed aplication loader and update softwear an it had some new 5.0 (i already was using 5.0) so i clicked on it and it reset my phone and now it works perfect but im missing my browser.
I would like to go back to square one with the sound profiles. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to reset them back to defaults without doing a complete wipe of my system.
So my Sprint Blackberry Tour 9630 takes on average 13-15 minutes with a battery pull reset. I love the phone, and have no complaints about it except for this issue. I've had plenty of blackberries and this is taking the longest. I have no clue as to why it takes so long - I dont have any apps really installed, and no pictures/music, etc. loaded.
Anyone have any thoughts or ideas how I can make it run faster? This is the stats of my phone: 5.0.0.624 OS 914.6mb of free space (917.7mb total)
I have 600+ contacts. I have set a default ringtone for everyone but not everyone rings with this tone? How can i set everyone for this ringtone or reset the ringtones?
It seems that everytime I reset my Tour, my Yahoo & MSN email icons revert back to the original default look, losing the Y! and MSN logos. I have to resend the service books inorder to get the logos to appear in the bottom of the email icon. Anyone else have this annoying issue?
I've been having a problem lately with my ringers... I have one custom MP3 ringtone for all my contacts. My problem is all of my contacts somehow have a custom (or personalized) ringer. When I edit my contact details and go into Custom Ring Tones/Alerts,they ALL have Ringer_ClassicPhone as the personalized ringer...
Is there any way to re-set all my "personalized" ringers for my contacts or somehow make them default to my profile's set ringer? Also, I recently installed BerryBuzz and I believe this started happening (or at least I noticed it) afterwards...
I currently have a Sprint BB Tour 9630 and I will be traveling to Spain. I want to keep my service with Sprint because I am still under contract, but I do not want to be charged an arm and a leg to use the international plan that Sprint offers. So I want to have someone rig the phone so that I will be able to use it in Spain through Sprint without being charged the international plan by Sprint. (I do not know the proper term for this but I was told by someone who I could go to to have this done so that I can use the phone just as I would if I were in the US).I also have been looking up phones that have quad band and I am most interested with the iphone clone since it has slots for dual SIM cards. My initial thinking is to take the SIM card from my BB Tour and get a SIM card with a Spanish number and use both SIM cards on this iphone clone, but I do not know if I will be able to take the SIM card from my BB Tour and use it in the iphone clone (due to the size of the SIM card as well as other factors).
Ok, media card was working fine, had alot of work pictures stored on it and was becoming a hassle to hunt through all of them to find what I wanted. So, I inserted media card in computer and transfered what I wanted to a folder on the computer. Then I formatted the card using the computer. When I put the card back into the phone, the phone knows its there, but I must have wiped the card completely as none of the folders for video, pics, etc. are on it anymore. If I take a picture and go to find it, the media card does not even show up, just device memory.
Does anybody have a remedy for this? I already tried formatting the card in the phone but that didn't work. The phone is telling me in the memory options that 1.8GB is free, so I know it works, it just lost the folders or whatever........
I have not found in a search where this is covered, so here goes While plugged into my USB port my Tour defaults to the Ringer_ClassicPhone Ringtone. It sounds horrible. But while plugged into the USB, it can not access my ringtones on the mediacard, where all of my defaults for SMS, Phone, and Email are located. So, the question, is there a way to import external, i.e. .wav's or .mp3's on a media card, to the Tours onboard memory so that the device can access them even plugged in. Yea - I know - how long can a phone be plugged in and is this really an issue. Yes - it is - to me. On a busy day at work, I will often plug my phone into the USB at my PC to charge it some, especially if it is getting into the 50% range, and it is not noon yet.
So I purchased a new AT&T sim card online just for the purpose of viewing AT&T's coverage on my tour. When I put the unactivated sim card into my tour and switch it to GSM mode, I get the sos symbol. This card has been activated under prepaid but I believe the activation ran out since I never bothered to add money to account. I just wanted to see how AT&T's signal compared to Verizon's. My question is does the Sim card have to be activated for you to be able to view the carriers signal? My Tour is unlocked.
I just updated my USCellular Tour to v5.0.0.419 from MTS Mobility, the Girlfriend's & GF's sister's VZW Tours to the Alltel v5.0.0.419.GF just sent me a BBM saying she can't save pictures to her memory card, and that its giving her an "Error 12" error.
I am sure you guy's heard this questions a million times? but I am new to BB and I like it and so I need help copying contacts from cell to memory card either from cell or using desk top manager. I tried using Gmail sync did not work and so I know there's got to be another way?
How come it now requires a media card to take videos with the Blackberry Tour? It didn't before the update, which I'm really not a fan of because of the changes to SMS messages. Is there a way to change this so the videos save directly on the phone like they used to? Or am I going to need a new way to take videos from now on. I don't really care about the videos I lost, since anything that I wanted from those I email to myself anyway, but I'd like to be able to take new videos.
If there's no direct fix to that is there a way to change back to the old OS before the update? Because, frankly, I don't like this one at all. It added nothing of any value and destroyed the ability for me to take videos and made the text messages screen look insanely dumb.
I just used my upgrade on the verizon blackberry tour 9630, I'm a big texter and absolutely LOVED my env2! Any helpful hints? Advice to a new user? I actually will not get my phone till next week.
I just got my tour and I had a 1gb memory card in my previous EnV Touch with all my pictures. I can't figure out how to get the pictures off the memory card to the internal memory so I can put the 2gb memory card back into my tour that it came with. I don't want to use Roxio because it messes up my computer and the Menu > Move doesn't move it to the internal memory!
I had changed in my camera options to "store pictures" on the sd card NOT "in device memory".A few days ago while taking some pics I maxed out the sd card and while trying to back out hit "ok" to something not sure what it was. but it changed the bb setting back to "device memory" and now when I try to change my camera options of "store pictures" back to the sd card it stays in "in device memory" and gives me no other option to use the sd card (which i did clean out some pics for space). It does show a folder where it is storing pics I take though but when I click the trackball to change from device memory it only shows
