It's about 2 months that I have a Blackberry Bold 9900, and I am new to Blackberry overall.I am having trouble turning off the backlight. The light stays on all the time. When I lock my phone, the backlight will go off for 2 seconds and then it'll come back on. I tried playing with all the settings in the options Screen Display, and nothing seems to turn it off.

This has just started happening since yesterday the backlight will not turn off so the battery only lasts around 8 hours before running down .

Is this normal and nothing more than a bug?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just bought a brand new blackberry curve 8900 and i've noticed that the keyboard backlight won't come on. I've read its supposed to detect dim light and turn on, on its own but I can be in a pitch black room and it wont turn on. Also i read that if you cover the led indicator light it should come on, tried that and it didn't work. I also went to the keypad and display settings and turned diming off and pretty much no matter what I do I can't get the backlight to turn on.
View 4 Replies View RelatedLately I've had trouble with my iPhone 4S backlight. The backlight does not always turn on when I wake the phone from sleep.
I've tried turning off the auto-brightness, but it does not help, the same behaviour continues. When the backlight is not on toggling the auto-brightness button or adjusting the brightness or covering the ambient light sensor have no effect, the backlight stays off. Usually it just randomly turns on after I put the device to sleep and wake it up. And no, my cover does not block the sensor either.

I can't get my Xoom to turn on the backlight. I can see that everything else works, by using reflective light I can see enough to do some simple actions, like changing brightness settings, and accept the shutdown dialog.I have tried anything that I can think off; turning on and off automatic brightness, cold reset, and shutting down and restart.
There doesn't seem to be a hardware error. I managed to get it to work again for a while yesterday, but I haven't been able to repeat that today.
Does anyone have any idea on how to turn the backlight on?
My screen backlight will not turn off unless I put the phone in a holster or cover. I've tried all the settings and nothing works.

View 4 Replies View RelatedThis had been bugging me for 3 days now. I don't have another phone to use. I've tried to repair the software using Update Service but it do no good. After pressing the On button at the top of the phone, the phone will vibrate after a sec and then there's a backlight but the "Sony Ericson" logo does not appear and after about 6 seconds the backlight will fade.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to control the button backlights? It would be really nice to be able to turn them off. Ever try to read a Kindle book or watch videos in the dark? The buttons are really bright compared to the screen and they hurt my eyes. I could find any control in the settings. Any chance of adding that feature

View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to turn off this ugly keyboard backlight on my Vivaz pro? Or just fade it down, it doesn't have to shine so bright! + drains the battery, please put a on and off switch for the keyboard backlight in the next update, I have already turned off my 3g because my battery doesn't even last 1 day. And one more thing, I think it should be possible to chose if u want the display to auto rotate or just stay in landscape mode all the time. And also, is it possible to make the standard Symbian home screen in landscape mode?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Torch 9800 - when I charge it up via the mini USB wall charger, it automatically switches to bedside mode and the clock comes on - I want the clock to appear like that when the backlight times out. I know this will be a battery drainer, but it will be very convenient to pull the phone out of my pocket to check the time - does anyone know of an app that will do this? I've checked several screensavers and they only work until the backlight times out
View 4 Replies View Relatedmy blackberry torch 9800 ear speaker hasnt worked in a while but it didnt bother me much because i would just put it on speaker and i could hear fine. recently my backlight (what it seems to be) has stoped working and i can barley see what i am doing on my phone. my phone still works fine besides those flaws but i would still really like to get it fixed.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have had my Blackberry Torch now for about 10months and last week i think i may have got it slightly wet after i tried to answer the phone when getting out of the bath. Since then it has been ok but last night when i slid open the screen everything went black. As soon as i slide the screen shut it works again! This basically means that i can only use the phone as a touch screen phone when it is down (which isn't good for me as I always text using the keypad when it is slided open).I called o2 and they said before they send it off to be repaired that i should try upgrading all of the latest BB software as that might fix it. I have never had any upgrades but will this really be able to fix my screen? Is there any other way i can try and fix the phone myself?

Last night, I noticed that my phone didn't seem to be sleeping. I rebooted my phone and it seemed to be working. The next time I tried to check something on it, the screen would not come on after pressing the power button. Pressing and holding the power button, the phone would reboot and I would be able to use my phone normally until it slept/I turned the screen off. Power button does not bring the screen up, but the backlight does come on. Notifications come through, (light included).
I've since factory reset my phone, loaded settings from what was saved before.
-> phone will not wake Factory reset, -> treat as new device, no apps from google play installed -> phone will not wake
This issue for me has just started as of last night, with nothing updated/installed/changed recently. Cycling the power (holding power till it restarts) allows for use of the phone (until it sleeps), power + vol up does nothing different from just power, and power + vol down boots to the bootloader with nothing changed when started from there.
I have looked elsewhere, this doesn't seem to be a common problem, but seems (to me) occurs more with rooted/rom'ed phones and not stock phones. This phone hasn't been either of those. None of the things I've found seem to have any solutions.
Edit: I went through the Google Play store troubleshooting thing for 'Device will not turn on' and now I cannot get anything other than the Google logo upon restart, or the Boot-loader if Vol - and power.
When I turn my phone horizontal to text, the screen does not change until I bang the phone on the desk ...is this normal as I have had 3 of these phones so far and they all seem to do it. "9860 Torch"
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just updated to 442 and everything else seems fine except for the fact that when on a call, as soon as the backlight times out, it mutes the mic and the party on the other end cannot hear me. Clicking the trackball "unmutes" the phone until the backlight times out again. This happens whether I'm on speakerphone or not.
I posted this in the actual OS thread as well but figured someone in here may read this and know of a solution.
I've done quite a few battery pulls hoping this would resolve the issue but it hasn't.
The nice thing about upgrading from 296 to this is when you are on a call and the backlight times out, the screen and everything but the 4 buttons on the trackpad row go dim. So if its dark you can still find these 4 buttons rather easily. I just wish I could figure out this mute issue.
why the buttoms next to the track pad don't turn off, I lock the phone and they keep on. And keyboard light doesn't turn on. I pull out the battery and this doesn't fix it.
