how can I change the amount of memory reserved just for applications? I remember when I had a curve I could do so, but now on my Torch 9860, I can't find a way.
View 4 RepliesI mean I keep hearing you end up waiting in line in the reserve line and the advantage is the line goes faster.But, I may be in a situation that I can only pick up the phone much later in the day (I mean after 7 PM) depending on my work schedule.Does this mean they'll actually hold it all day or am I going to be SOL (I think I heard one launch they did end up running out of iphones for the reserved people and late comers had to wait). And please tell me if I'm SOL that it probably won't be a 3-4 week to get one in. Basically the biggest thing for me is I want one before July 21rst which is when I go on vacation (I want to have its camera and video capability by then).

On initial bootup, after unintalling some apps, I now have 22 MB. Is this a reasonable amount to have a Curve 8330 running 5.0.0.438? I have been told OS 5.0 is really too much for the Curve to handle, so want to make it more manageable, as I don't want to go back to 4.5.According to BlackBerry.com, the 8330 has 96 MB RAM. If I'm coming up with 22 MB at initial bootup, that means 5.0 is using 74 MB. Is that normal?

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy name is Ed and I'm a newbie. Please indulge the length of this first post as I have many issues. My goal is to get all my favorite music together to be played on my Storm, which I can also use to play through my home stereo system. So far ,there, the volume is erratic and there is some distortion.
I have copied CD's and downloaded MP3s and M4as to my computer. The downloads came zipped and when extracted, I put the folders in an iTunes file and deleted the artwork and was left with the zipped folders, which I put in a separate "downloaded zip files" folder.
(1)Can I delete these zips without losing my music? I installed the original Desktop Mgr with Roxio, didn't like it, uninstalled it, and reinstalled DM with no Media Mgr and downloaded iTunes for the second time. Meantime, I opened Windows Media Player to see what version I had and if I could use it with DM and it automatically retrieved my 700 songs.
(2)Are they hurting anything there being a duplicate of iTunes and if so, how do I get them out?
To the biggest problem: I also downloaded the BB Media Sync and when I used it to load my 700 songs to my phone, it did so for 650 of them (4.3GB) but then said I was out of memory so it didn't sync the last 50.The details showed me that I have about 3GB memory left on the phone but it is for pictures.I don't care if my pictures are on there or not, I want to be able to load 8GB of MUSIC.I used help and it said to go into DM, choose options, and reduce the memory allocated to something else, (like pictures).I did so and there was no way to do that. I tried clicking on everything and never saw any way to do what help said.
(3) How do I get DM to allocate all my 8GB available memory to music? I know I can buy a 16GB chip, but I'm afraid it's going to allocate 12GB of it to pictures.Also, and finally, it is showing 700 songs on the sync screen, but it's shaded. When I want to add,say, 10 more songs, how do I get them through the system and ADD to my phone.Does sync automatically not duplicate?I have Windows XP SP3, 9530 through Verizon, and am about a 3 out of 10 computer knowledge wise.I am going to play golf now, which presents, although completely different, an equally challenging activity.
When I enter the Running Services subsection in the default Android Settings menu (in the Applications section), it shows me the amount of used up and free RAM memory in the bottom of the screen.In my case, it reads: 181MB used | 360 MB freehe HTC Desire S specification says it has 768MB RAM so it appears that 227MB of RAM is missing.Is this normal, and does something else use this RAM, and it's notshown on this screen?I am new to the Android platform, so bear with me. My phone has 16 GB of internal memory but when I go to Settings and then Storage, my phone is reporting that my memory is totally consumed and app are using over 20 GB of memory. If I use the "MY Files" app that comes installed on the phone, it show device storage as 10.43/16.00 GB. I don't get any errors when installing new apps or updating old ones.
I have cleaned app cache with 360, cleaned system cache in recovery mode, performed a battery pull and gone to the settings app and cleared data with no result.
I have a 4gig memory in my Torch 9800 and want to put in a 8gig one. The problem is, how do I copy all my data from the 4gig to the 8gig. I have tried using the adapter and copying it, however not all my pictures and music copies.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have to admit that I been in love with my C5-03 since the first time I saw it. But unfortunately, the phone gave me real hard time.
1- I can't change the message memory to memory card. It works for a while, and then an error message pops out, statimg that "memory card not found" and that the phone will revery the message memory to phone memory.
2- The phone memory is almost full. I have 11.4 MB left, and I don't know what's filling the memory. I have 3 apps installed, 1 MB each, besides the default apps. Browsing the memory was of no help: almost all folders are empty. I tried emptying the browser's cache, but 11.4 MB is all I could have.
3- Nokia store and the web browser give me the "memory full" message after a couple of minutes of browsing, and then they close automatically, making them almost useless.
4- The battery life is not impressive. I have to charge the phone every 1-2 days even with light usage (15 min of calls, no Wi-Fi or music playing).
I love the phone and I've been having it for 6 months now.I have installed the latest firmware 2 months ago (v.20.0.024, version date 25-05-2011.

This is a new phone and i have not installed any additional apllications. Also if i got this error i checked i don't have any running applications.
I am getting this error on a daily basis since the f/w update to V21.When I get the error I check available memory via taskman and I usually have 40+MB in my RAM available.Even when I close all apps and have 55mb free I get the error.To add to this, it usually happens when I charge the phone overnight. In the morning the screen lock vibration feature dissapears and soon thereafter I start getting the memory full error.

Well I guess the Android platform has just about got that problem licked. They are just around the corner from letting this jewel out. The people from Google said it may be just a "little" slower but will be very usable. The response I received from the forum was that the 9700 had plenty of storage for as many apps as you needed and still operate fast. Agreed but what will happen with the new OS and this great browser around the corner arrives. Many of the phones won't be able to use the new OS because of memory problems so that tells me that it may slow down the 9700 if too many apps are loaded. That is where the ability to save and run apps from memory card will be needed. Android put it together very fast why the **** can't Rim or some company put one together that works?

I had around 90 MB of free space on the device, and then proceeded to load a handful of applications. I haven't done the exact math, but I think I loaded around 5 MB of applications. The free memory has gone down by around 15 to 20 MB. Is there some sort of file management issue that "wastes" memory on the Blackberry? I have tried all the usual tricks to free up memory - running Memory Cleaner, running Memory Booster, clearing all cached items in various applications, pulling the battery. Still, free memory remains below 70 MB.

I was originally going to have my phone shipped to my college apartment as I live an hour from my parents' home, but then I read that apple will only ship to the billing address (my parents' house) so I opted to have it reserved at the apple store closer to my apartment. I then read that I have to be an authorized/primary user on the att account in order to pick up my reserved phone and I didn't want to hassle with all that. I went through the order process a second time and just decided to have it shipped to my parents' house and just make the drive next week. My question is, do I have to cancel the reserved phone I ordered the first time or will the apple store simply give it to someone else when I don't show up?

However, I reserved an iPhone 4 at launch day and would love to pick it up at BB, especially since I already put $50 into a BB gift card I'm unlikely to use for anything else. In order to get the iPhone 4 and Premier I see two options:
1.On the Premier site's phone selection I will select a phone which requires no contract (my previous contract with AT&T expired long ago so I'm currently month-to-month with them) so at least my account is already switched to Premier by launch day.
2.Keep my existing plan for now and (somehow) switch to Premier after I pickup the new phone on launch day.
