View 5 RepliesI recently updated my O.S using Desktop Manager on my Mac.
Before the update, the two buttons on the top of the phone worked as follows:
Right button: Locked the phone (have to enter password)
Left button: Locked keyboard
After the update, the top left button locks the keyboard, but the top right button does nothing. This happened after the update.
Tour 9630
V5.0.0.983 (Bundle 1615, Platform 4.2.0.428)
My problem: My 8310 will not standby/lock when it is holstered. What I've tried: The obvious, Options > Security > General Settings > Lock Upon Holstering = Yes. I will put it in the holster wait a good 30 seconds - 1 minute, then push on the holster to hit a letter and see if the address book opens up and it does (from my understanding it shouldn't if locked) My guess is maybe I just have a junk holster (it is magnetic) or maybe something with the battery.I have searched and just couldn't find much, this forum is great and full of knowledge so figured i'd give it a shot.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI updated my OS on my 8900 to the latest version yesterday 5.0.0.681 Most of it looks the same, however I used to use the lock ley (top left ) on my handset, to password lock my unit before putting it in my pocket. Now I find this only put the unit into and out of standby. Does anyone know why this has been changed? Can it be changed back? I am really angry that this usefull feature has been removed without the ability to customise my handset and put it on.Why could it not have been an option to change what this key does? From a quick search on Google I see lots of other people have the same problem, and some are even paying to download aps to fix the problem!! For now I have changed my side convience key to activate the password lock, so all I have to do is keep remembering to press side button instead of top button. I cant even find anywhere that I can contact RIM about this, and request they reinstate the lock key. Very disapointed with the way this has been handled and the lack of support / advice / comment from RIM.

View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen Pandora is running, my phone won't show the Pandora Pause/Forward widget/buttons. The background changes to the album art, but no widget functionality. My built in music player still shows it's widget and is fully functional so it's not a global "disable widgets" setting (if there even is one). I have uninstalled/re-installed Pandora multiple times.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI got my iPhone 4 in October 2010. Since then I have accidentally dropped it on the floor and the back cracked, and in April 2011 I accidentally dropped it in a tub of paint. A bit silly, I know, but I managed to get all of the paint off quite easily and it was fine. However, at the end of last year, the home button started to malfunction and get stuck and just generally not work. In the past few weeks I've noticed I get trouble with it at least once a day and have to sit and press it until it works. Then, today, just out of nowhere, the lock/power button at the top of my phone just stopped working, it's stuck. I don't really have a way to wake my phone now unless I press the home button until it works, and I can't lock it anymore.

I am constantly pressing the rewind or fast forward button when trying to pause or play the audio by using the controls on the lock screen. I normally listen to audio podcasts or audio books, and these are usually 2 hours plus long. When you hit the FFW button it's not a big issue and it will retain it's place, but if you are in the middle of an 11 hour audio book and you hit the rewind button it takes you all the way back to the beginning. That works properly, but I am constantly hitting the RWD or FFW button because they are so close to the play button.

Any obscure setting that I may have tripped that would kill these two at the same time all of the sudden? I'm at a loss other than the fact the sucker got wet about 10 days ago. I did the proper wet phone recovery procedure and even had it apart same day to make sure it wasn't moist in there. Worked fine till about an hour ago.

Problem afflicting the Storm 2 in the world. Sent to help with a few days of life, is lying there for three weeks along with many other Storm 2 "pending rules from theBlackberry." In short, no they have not even touched and expect the Bleckberry tell them what to do. Needless to say that with the gentlemen of the Blackberry is impossible to talk!

I just upgraded from my old Curve 8330 to the Tour 9630, both on Verizon, and I couldn't be happier with my new device -- except for one thing. The Curve had a great "standby" function I could use at night, in which the phone would lock its keyboard and effectively shut down, but still be able to receive calls if one came in. This also saved lots of battery power. After hours' worth of mashing the top "lock" and "mute" buttons on the Tour, and searching through the internal menus, I can't seem to find a similar mode on my new phone.
First: If there's a thread about this already somewhere else, I beg your pardon; I'd be grateful for a link and I'll be on my way there. But if not, does anybody know whether some devices just do not have a standby mode anymore as part of OS 5, or whether there might be something wrong with my phone because its mute key won't activate standby mode?
The key lock button the top left works, but, at least on my Curve, the key lock and standby were two very different things -- I'd lock the keyboard when I put the phone in my pocket, but I'd put it on standby before bed every night. Does key-lock mode on the Tour replace standby?
I got a Torch 9800 from a friend and the battery life is horrible. It was bought in March 2011 and today after sending 3 texts and checking the time, maybe unlocking 3 times, the battery only has a third left. I charged it all night. Wifi is disabled, and I don't use data. Previous user had it as a work phone sending several emails and using data, pin, calling and texting, so that could be a reason why the battery life is so poor, I'm just skeptical about purchasing a new battery when it seems RIM has had some battery issues. Any advice on whether I should go ahead with the purchase? I'm just worried I'll be facing a short battery life with a new battery in a matter of months.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI bought a new Bb torch 9860 the day before. It was working perfectly fine until this evening. It has now stopped turning off completely which it was doing very well before. Now it goes into a standby - like mode and quickly turns on when the red button is pressed. Earlier it used to take time in loading (I know it's a time saver but what if I want to switch off my phone completely to give it some rest). I am unable to switch it off completely other than by the method of removing it's battery. Also, it had stopped showing recent updates in bbm and was suddenly not playing any media file before this thing happened. These two have now been resolved but the turn off thing still wont work.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently got the Torch two weeks ago from Rogers and generally I don't have any problems with. But I've found that sometimes after I receive a call from someone and I've ended the call (by sliding the phone down), all my buttons stop working. The Keyboard, lock button, call, end, etc. No button works. But however, the touch screen works. I usually end up using the touch screen to turn off my phone and pull out my battery and put it back in.From there it works again. Its happened four times now. Has this happened to anyone else?

View 3 Replies View RelatedThe touch screen works, but none of the buttons work. I have restarted, I have removed the battery numerous times, but nothing. It was working this morning. No water damage, no drop damage, just stopped working. I am limited in what I can do and almost every time I want to close an application, i need to remove the battery because there is no way to close. It's very frustrating. I can still take and make calls but have difficulty even hanging up after a call!I took it to ATT and it is no longer under warranty. I may just take it in to a repair place

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is the second torch I've gotten with button problems. I've been a customer of blackberry and Telus for the past ten years.Blackberry, or Telus doesn't seem to give a care about the substandard quality of their product or their customers.I had a Storm and traded it in due to the buttons simply not working. Bought a Torch and six months later the buttons failed. Sent it in for warrantee and Telus blamed me for a problem I didn't even have to avoid the warantee until I complained so much they reoplaced it a few months back. Now this piece of **bleep** is giving me the same heartache.Called for support and they said to send it in for warrantee work. I'm a realtor and can't anmswer my phone half the time. I can't use the back button or the menu buttons. I get charged every time I send the phone back for an evaluation even though it's not my problem and its under warrantee.
