BB Storm2 9550/9520 :: OS Use Some Memory Card Space To Free Up Internal Memory?

Jul 15, 2010

Why can't the BB OS use some of the removable memory card space to free up the internal memory. To me this is a no brainer, most of us have 16 or 32gig cards, I would be more than happy to set aside some space so the phone could run better. Most of the new flash cards these days are reasonably fast and could easily be used as a swap file place holder or reside some of the dormitory features.

BB Storm2 9550/9520 :: How Do You Use Memory?

Jun 19, 2010

First, I apologize if this is not the appropriate forum for this (moderator, please move if required).Ok, I absolutely like my Storm (sans the browser, but there is Opera mini for that! ). For a business professional who wants a dependable device that offers a very good multimedia experience, Storm 2 is more than equal to the task. Here is a question I have for you guys: what do you use the memory space on your S2 for? For me here is how my S2's different "sets" of memory are used:

1. RAM (256MB): With the OS and all my favorite apps loaded, I have 80-90MB left. I experience absolutely no lag. Battery lasts more than 24 hours for most days.

2. ROM (2G): I have no use for this. What is supposed to be used for anyway?

3. Media Card (16GB): Music (5GB), Pictures, Video (at least one full length ripped DVD at any given time and random clips 1G), work files and other documents. So why do I need all the memory space in this device? What do you use yours for?

BB Storm2 9550/9520 :: Application Memory / Why SD Cards Not Used For Applications?

Apr 28, 2010

I have a question about the memory that BB's have. What is the point of having SD cards if we cannot use them for the applications? Storm 2 users have 16bgs of memory device and SD card combine, but we can only use about 100mb for apps. We only have 256mb of application memory. why? The OS takes half of that, with the memory leaks that we have an a couple of appls our phones start acting retarded and slow.

Why cant we have the application memory just for the OS and the rest of the memory for apps and out stuff. What is the point of having all this memory available if the phone is going to slow down because our memory is going low. Is it always going to be like this? the new bb's are going to be coming out with 512mb of application memory and i still think we are going to have the same issue.

BB Storm2 9550/9520 :: Error Message Saying Not Enough Memory In Device

Mar 23, 2010

I just got my Storm 2 this afternoon (I had a Storm 1 for 1-1/2 years). After I restored my files from Desktop Manager I went to Application Loader to see what I wanted to take off or put on. I removed all the foreign language stuff and added a few items. When I clicked next I got an error message saying there was not enough memory in my device. This is crazy since I have 117 MB of free application memory. I am using Desktop Manager v. 4.7 that worked fine for my Storm 1. Do I have to use v5 for the Storm 2, or is it some other problem.

BB Storm2 9550/9520 :: Storage Space Vs Performance And Compression?

Does your available storage space(s) effect performance? I have about 100MB remaining in Application Memory, 1.6GB in Device Memory, and ~10GB on the media card. I have lots of things installed that I don't use. Also, in the Memory screen, the top item is "Compression". What is that referring to? I would assume that if something is compressed, it consumes less storage space, but conversely requires decompression in order to "run" which would effect performance, right?

Nokia :: E75 - Internal Memory Full / 2MB Free

Jan 6, 2010

I have an E75 for a few months now and I have a problem that totally confuses me: I constantly keep getting the System Message that my Internal Memory C: is full and that I need to either delete files or move them to the flash memory. Sometimes it also refuses to open emails, because of the lack of memory.

The sad part is that almost all of my data already is on the flash card, not on the internal drive. There's literally nothing left to delete from the internal memory. I also tried deleting my personal data from the web browser, but it didn't help much. I checked the data that is stored on the internal memory and it is about 18MB while the phone's file manager sais I have only about 2MB free memory left. 20 MB total memory size seems a little small to me, shouldn't it be 50MB?
