Apr 6, 2010Did anyone else upgrade OTA to .607 and for some reason lose 28 megs of app memory? Its like it didn't remove the install files after upgrading.

Apr 28, 2010I have a question about the memory that BB's have. What is the point of having SD cards if we cannot use them for the applications? Storm 2 users have 16bgs of memory device and SD card combine, but we can only use about 100mb for apps. We only have 256mb of application memory. why? The OS takes half of that, with the memory leaks that we have an a couple of appls our phones start acting retarded and slow.
Why cant we have the application memory just for the OS and the rest of the memory for apps and out stuff. What is the point of having all this memory available if the phone is going to slow down because our memory is going low. Is it always going to be like this? the new bb's are going to be coming out with 512mb of application memory and i still think we are going to have the same issue.

Jul 15, 2010Why can't the BB OS use some of the removable memory card space to free up the internal memory. To me this is a no brainer, most of us have 16 or 32gig cards, I would be more than happy to set aside some space so the phone could run better. Most of the new flash cards these days are reasonably fast and could easily be used as a swap file place holder or reside some of the dormitory features.

Jun 19, 2010First, I apologize if this is not the appropriate forum for this (moderator, please move if required).Ok, I absolutely like my Storm (sans the browser, but there is Opera mini for that! ). For a business professional who wants a dependable device that offers a very good multimedia experience, Storm 2 is more than equal to the task. Here is a question I have for you guys: what do you use the memory space on your S2 for? For me here is how my S2's different "sets" of memory are used:
1. RAM (256MB): With the OS and all my favorite apps loaded, I have 80-90MB left. I experience absolutely no lag. Battery lasts more than 24 hours for most days.
2. ROM (2G): I have no use for this. What is supposed to be used for anyway?
3. Media Card (16GB): Music (5GB), Pictures, Video (at least one full length ripped DVD at any given time and random clips 1G), work files and other documents.So why do I need all the memory space in this device? What do you use yours for?

Apr 5, 2010So I was updating via Desktop Manager on a mac. Mid upgrade I got a message on the computer- "software upgrade failed"
On the blackberry I got a message I've never seen before-"Reload Software 507" and it has a weird icon with a circle and line through it.
I'm afraid to do anything! What do i do, HELP!!! Edit: Now it keeps shutting off, rebooting itself, and then the same error message appears. Meanwhile, the mac is still trying to update the storm2. Its a vicious circle of death!
BB Storm2 9550/9520 :: After Upgrade To V5.0.0.341all Apps Disappeared
Jan 12, 2010Ok so earlier today I updated my phone to v5.0.0.341.The upgrade went ok, but afterwards it seemed all my apps have disapeared, and the default skin reinstated. After checking around the phone i couldn't find any of them.I figured I'd reinstall the skin I had been using (Blackberry Pro v4). After installing it, my menu was really screwed up. All the folders had disappeared and everything that was normally in folders was on the home menu. I managed to fix that by pressing menu > options > reset icon arrangement.
However, I still have the problem of all my apps missing. I was wondering if anyone could shed any light on this for me, and any possible easy way of getting them back. I've downloaded and reinstalled a few, but I did have quite a few installed. Also, does anyone know how I can get back apps that I have already paid for in App World? I'm guessing emailing support is the best way to go?

May 9, 2010I recently had an error code, 5xx. can't remember now and Storm2 wouldn't start. Connected to DM, pulled cable in & out and was able to reload OS. Already had .607 before. Since then, 2 things are really annoying:
1. DM constantly wants to upgrade / reload to .607 during sync, but I already have it.
2. I cannot find/remember how I removed the "Accept or Decline" options to confirm sync changes. I just want it to do it without asking.

Mar 23, 2010I just got my Storm 2 this afternoon (I had a Storm 1 for 1-1/2 years). After I restored my files from Desktop Manager I went to Application Loader to see what I wanted to take off or put on. I removed all the foreign language stuff and added a few items. When I clicked next I got an error message saying there was not enough memory in my device. This is crazy since I have 117 MB of free application memory. I am using Desktop Manager v. 4.7 that worked fine for my Storm 1. Do I have to use v5 for the Storm 2, or is it some other problem.

So I could get either one right? But why do I hear some rumors that 9550 is not so good on GSM as the 9520? Should I get 9550 or 9520? I wont be using the CDMA at all, but it seems that I could get 9550 a lot easier than 9520 in Canada.
