It's been very hot and humid here in the northeast for the past few weeks, I have noticed that my touch-screen freezes, or stops responding to touch. Sometimes, it only responds on one side. This happens almost always when my hands are sweaty. I actually got lost in the woods, because i could not get to the applications folder to run the gps app.I finally found that a re-boot seemed to fix the problem, I also found that sometimes putting it in the refrigerator will solve the problem, for a while without rebooting.
I am very upset with my nokia n97, every since I updated the FW to version 12.0.026 my phone just keep freezing and the touch screen does not even work right. I can't even dial or answer my phone so **bleep** off. Anyone else have this issue ever since the update?
when accessing the applications menu the touch screen will freeze for almost 5 Sec, then it will respond again, but if exit to phone home screen then i access the application menu the problem starts again freezing for 5 Sec.
For those lucky people who have their hands on one already, how much different is the new screen?I'm pretty attached to the clickable s1 screen and I'm not too fond of previous touch screens (voyager-loved phone...hated touch feature). I wasn't too fond of my friends iphone either.So....how does it rate? Supposedly it feels the same?
I resently purchased a storm and I really like it, 'cept for some minor glitches everyone else seems to be experiencing. But my question today is this. Sometimes when after ending a call at the dial screen it locks up and stays frozen in that screen even when I press the end button and the cancel button. Takes about good 15 to 20 seconds to go back to the BB screen. Has anyone else experienced this as well? I'm starting to think it's the phone that's a lemon or something.
i have a blackberry storm 2 with vodafone (in the netherlands) Since having the phone the screen has been freezing. In other words every now and then (atleast once a day) i try to click on a app in the middle of the screen and it reacts as if i am pressing the ESC button....sending me back to the desktop. If after calling i want to end a call i press the red button and it again sends me back to the desktop but the conversation carrys on going (really annoying if you get voice mail...can cost a bomb shell) After a while or after pressing many buttons in the middle it starts to act normally again. So this is the problem...i have tried a battery pull, i have tried leaving the battery out for 3/5 days i have even had the phone and battery in a bag of rice to dry it out (as i heard it might have been damp) all with failiure.
Anyone else suffered this problem. It is really starting to annoy me. Ill try and describe it the best I can.For example if my phone is turned on and I use it or look at something on no problems. Then when it goes into screensaver/standby mode? where before a quick tap to the screen or one of the buttons would light up the screen again ready to use it just now stays black and i have to wait about 30 seconds for it to come on.
Its the same if its in the holster/my pocket i hear it beep to say i have an email/message take it out and again have to wait for the screen to come on.Any way of fixing this? Has anyone else experienced it?It also seems to be lagging a bit. If im not mistaken this appears to have come about since the battery ran down completely as I was at work and had forgot to charge it and didn't have my charger. It is now fully charged.
I have the latest OS installed on my storm, today at a car show during a text it began to distort, then frooze, then went blank, hard resets over and over only to discover that the phone was on, just not the screen. Any ideas? I've had blackberries since I was 18 and got my first phone. This has never happened to me, I had the Pearl, upgraded to the Curve, upgraded to the Bold, now I got the Storm and I'm regretting not trying out the Iphone 3Gs, I had the first iPhone and just didnt like it, but I'm thinking.
I played with the Storm 2 tonight and was impressed with the responsiveness of the touch screen. The first thing I noticed (old news to anyone who has used the Storm) is that just touching the screen will light up the button/key that you're hitting, but you need to physically push the fancy schmancy clickable screen to register the input. On this device I'd rather type via touch-only than a physical press.I know that the physical click screen is supposed to be attractive for people who like physical keyboards. Is there an option to change the behavior, such that non-click touches activate the key?
I really enjoy my Storm 2. I think it's a great device. It has however, forever changed my expectations for touch screens...
1. I get annoyed that my iPod Touch doesn't *click* when I press the screen. Sometimes without thinking I press the screen, forget what device I am using, and think something is broken because my iPod Touch screen isn't clicking.
2. I have an LCD Touch Screen for my home alarm system.I also get annoyed because it doesn't *click* either. For years it never bothered me, now I want it to *click*.
I didn't think the *click* was such a big deal at first, but now as I use the phone more and more.I've come to expect and appreciate it, especially when I am typing messages and emails.Anyways, just thought I would share. Has the Storm 2 changed anyone elses expectations for other touch screen devices?
I have seen ladies using BB's not using their finger tips and not their (long) nails but for me, its always been my two thumbnails that make the contact with the keyboard. But the Storm screen will only react to a finger TIP. Contact with a fingerNAIL will register NOTHING.
So it requires a complete retrain. And I aint retraining..Also, I was dimayed to see the screen loose (you could waggle it about within the frame) on the (fully operational) demo unit at the Vodaphone UK store. Browser speeds did not knock me out either.
Other than having a big screen, what are the advantages of using a touchscreen on the Storm? Are there gestures or short cuts available to the Storm that are NOT available on the QWERTY keyboard blackberrys? I have a 8330 Curve and considering switching to the Storm 2 and am interested in knowing why the touchscreen would be a better choice.
I always lock the screen them I put my storm in my pocket. I use the normal BB lock button on top of storm. Recently I've noticed that the screen is not responsive to touch after unlocking. Sometimes the screen will come back to normal after a few minutes, sometimes it will not until battery pull. Any ideas why?I have not installed any new apps. Running most recent full release.Different issue, I can no longer use quick pull. Gives me an error message, so now I have to physically pull the battery.
My storm 2 is broken...The touch screen has suddenly stopped working and everythime I boot the phone I get a white screen with various different errors and codes. Each time errors are different...Im sure the phone is unrepairabl so I need to recover my BBM contacts... I've recovered my phonebook, music, pics, files etc from previous backups but I need my BBM contacts... If I can remote access the phone from my laptop I can do it but I don't know how...
I just got a new BlackBerry Storm 9520 a few days again, and am now experiencing difficulties with the display. On the main menu (in portrait view) instead of showing application icons, it shows an oncreen keyboard which i cannot remove. Several times the keyboard has presented with jumbled letters and numbers, but then reverts back to QWERTY view.I am confused as to why this is happening.
I originally got the screen protectors Verizon sells when I bought the Storm 2, however I opened them to find out they don't cover the whole screen. They are the exact same as the Storm 1 screen protectors, so they don't cover the now integrated buttons.
So who makes a good screen protector that preferably comes in a 3 pack so I can share them with my brother who got the free Storm 2 when I bought mine? I see the CrackBerry store has the SmartPhone Expert ones but it doesn't say if they cover the entire screen including the bottom buttons.
Been a Blackberry user since March last year, although I seem to have struck lucky with the particular blackberry I've got - my Storm2 9520 has been a catalogue of problems since the start.Anyway, last night I dropped the phone in my room, and the screen broke. Now, all that can be seen is a bizarre, inky pattern onscreen, obscuring everything bar the very bottom of the view. However, the glass screen itself is undamaged. Whenever I've looked on the internet for fixes, nearly all of them seem to deal with cracked glass screens, but my screen is undamaged - the display and what's showing up onscreen is the problem. Now, I'm not very tech-savvy, so here's my questions for you all:
1) what is the nature of this problem, i.e.. what is actually broken?
2) does my Vodafone warranty likely cover this? I've already sent the phone off once to be fixed, when the screen was not working properly and wouldn't respond properly to my button presses.
3) If no to 2), how easy would it be to affect a fix myself? Would it simply be a case of buying a new screen part and fitting it?
I've had my Bell HTC Touch for a few months now without having any problems whatsoever. So last night I decide that I want to start using my Touch as an alarm clock to wake me up. Okay, I set the alarm for 7am, place it next to me and go to sleep. At 3am, the phone starts beeping, I take a look at the time wondering wtf is going on. I'm too deep asleep to care so I just ignore it. An hour later this beeping is getting annoying so I take a look. The phone's complaining that the battery is very low and needs to turn off. wtf? battery was full when I went to sleep last night! Thats besides the point, I notice that the phone is starting to act extremely sluggish. It takes upto 10 seconds for it to respond to a single touch. I decide to turn it off right away, but it won't even respond to the power button being depressed for more than 15 seconds.
So I thought a quicker way to shut it off is to do a soft reset, boot up, and then power down properly. I initiate the soft reset, but the battery dies mid-boot up. Well, at least the phone is off, time to go back to sleep.I wake up this morning, place it on the charger (phone is still off) while I get ready for work. I pick it up on my way out and try to turn it on, and it hangs on the "Windows Mobile" boot up screen. Thats wierd, so I soft reset it again. Same problem. I soft reset it again and wait to see what happens. The phone eventually gives me this white screen which tells me the phone was shut down incorrectly or something else happened, and advises me to do a hard reset. I dont want to do a hard reset because (correct me if I'm wrong) I'll lose all my contacts, pics, music, etc. Is there anything I can try before going this route? Also, I synch my phone with my laptop pretty often. Is there any way, after doing a hard reset, to retrieve the information thats on my laptop?
Everytime I get a new text, when I try to open it freezes my phone up and I have to hit escape key to get out of it, but when I do that and try to get back to the SMS it works but then the text is blank and I cant read it. It happens randomly, even when in a new SMS convo, so its not like its taking up memory. Then sometimes it wont even let me open the text at all, and then I have to delete it and start a new one just to reply back. Also its not just one contact, its all the SMS messages. It started doing it in .517, then I switched to a hybrid, it kept doing it, and then I tried the .607 and Im still getting it.
My phone's screen is being unresponsive. I've updated to the latest software and I've taken the battery out but nothing seems to work. If I take that battery out it's normal for a minute, but then after a few minutes it's back to being unresponsive. If I try to touch a certain icon it will either not respond, or it will open up another icon. I can't scroll through my contacts or messages. When I try to enter in my password it only enters a few characters then it doesn't work.
I just received my new storm 2 after replacing the first because the screen wouldn't click in the corner. I made sure I got one with a march 5th branding so I had the updated screen. Earlier today the send, Menu, Return, and End keys plus the screen right next to the started this "TINKing" noise. The other side still "clicks".
I bought a 9520 couple of months ago and face a peculiar intermittent problem. When I try to dial a phone number, none of the digits(except 0) get displayed on the screen. It happened a week ago and then after 3 -4 restarts came back to normal. But its happened again and is very frustrating coz am unable to dial any new numbers. This occurs only when you try to dial a number.
Sometimes, during incoming calls, the screen shuffles between portrait and landscape mode. And when I press the green accept button (in either mode), the ring tone stops and after a second or so, it starts to ring again. And obviously, during all this, I am not able to receive the call using the screen button.I know the simple solution is to use the physical green button at the bottom but would still like to resolve it. Is it a genuine problem with all bb storm 9520s? Is there a fix to this by changing accelerometer settings or something?
Just bought a BB Storm 2, 9520. But i find something doesn't seem right, but not exactly sure if it's a problem or it's just the design of the phone. Please enlighten me on this. The touch screen of my phone doesn't seem "fix" like other touch screen phone. The feel of touching the BB screen is like pressing a button where it'll "depress" when u press the screen. Is this normal for this phone?
