BB Pearl :: Older Appointments Get Deleted When Synchronizing
Jun 10, 2011
When I synchronize my Blackberry Pearl, my old appointments get deleted from both my device and my outlook account. I have changed the settings to keep appointments continuously so it is not the usual X days of old appointments selected. No option related seems to be on the Blackberry Desktop Software.

Ever since I updated to OS 7.1 on my Bold 9790 any SMS older than 1 month are getting deleted automatically. This is despite the SMS validity period set to "Max". How can I stop this?

I have a new Storm and have just suffered a major disaster due to the default setting that deletes old appointments in Calendar if they are over 60 days old.
Blackberry - change your defaults to retain any information FOREVER rather than hiding a default deep in the Calendar options set to 60 days which no-one knows about till it is too late - I have lost 4 years of critical project schedules and activities simply because I bought a new phone!! Judging by a couple of other posts on these forums others have also suffered this unwanted 60-day default. It is just so much more logical that the Users make a concious decision to have automatic deletion.
how I can recover my lost calendar entries - since they have been deleted out of my Outlook as well.

We just implemented BlackBerry Professional Server with a handful of users and I've noticed the following behavior: When a calendar appointment is created on the BB, it syncs with Outlook and appears there as well. If the appointment is then deleted in Outlook it remains on the BlackBerry. If the appointment is created and deleted on the BB it appears and disappears in Outlook just fine. Can anyone assist in troubleshooting this one?

Can someone maybe enlighten me as to why my past appointments in my calendar keep deleting, it appears to be after I have deleted the browser history! I did not realise this was linked to the calendar.

The iPhone 3GS was syncronized in iTunes. I was using iCal too, but I'm not sure if there's any automatic or manual syncronizing there. Just right after unplugging the iPhone from iTunes after the syncronizing was finished, the entire SMS list was deleted on the phone. I'm not sure if the backup procedure is usually running at the same time together with the syncronizing. But anyway is it possible to retrieve back the SMS list?
I have tried out several backup and recovery applications for iPhone and programs for Mac, but none of them work to backup the latest SMS list.
I also have an entire external backup of the whole Macbook, and with a swipe of luck it was backed up just two days before the deletion.
Info:
iPhone 3GS, iOS 5.0.1

In reading up on iPhone firmware v3.1.2 seems preferred if one wants to unlock. In shopping for a new (to me) iPhone most seem to have 3.1.3 - the unlock procedure for this does not seem for the fainthearted. So, my question is where I might find a DIY guide for reverting to older firmware (i.e. 3.1.2) - assuming such is possible.

I have had repeated problems with my pearl BBM auto-deleting conversations.I have a good deal of memory available, so I don't think that's the problem. And the conversations don't ALWAYS disappear, which makes this problem all the more odd.But I would say most of the time the convos are deleted for no reason at all.

I have a Blackberry 8230 that won't turn on. When the battery is charged, the red light flashes very slowly (about 10 seconds on, 10 seconds off). When I plug the USB cable into the computer, I see the BB hard drive for a brief second or two, then it disappears. It will appear briefly again about 20 seconds later, then disappear again. Is the battery shot? Or could there be something else going on? The phone was on the charger all night.

I just get the run-a-round at Verizon..I had a Pearl and loved it for texting, but never used the web on it.Seemed like a waste of money for the data plan.Back to a old phone but would love to have the pearl back without the data plan.Is this possible? I still have the pearl, just wishing I could use it for calls and texting.

I have a Pearl 8100 which has developed a bad screen.I was given another 8100 as a replacement. Same network, T-Mobile. I want to copy all the data, address book, etc. and setup from the old 8100 to the new one. I backed up the old 8100 using Blackberry DM but when I restored to the new 8100 nothing was changed.

I'm probably the author of my own misfortune here, but I loaded a GPX file with about 4000 waypoints onto my 5230 a few days ago. I got fed up after a while as it made ovimaps run like a complete dog, so I used the "location" app to select all and delete. However, it seems in the meanwhile that it had synchronized all of the landmarks to my ovi.com account. After I did this I noticed I was getting "Download error" every time I opened ovimaps, and I realized that it must be having some problems with synchronizing the phone with ovi.com (its set to do this on startup and closedown).
I viewed the maps there today and could see them, and then spent about 30 minutes deleting each of them manually. Online there are now no landmarks, and there are none on my phone either. However, I cannot now seem to sync ovi.com with my phone (using the menu option under "favorites" in ovimaps 3.04 on the phone).Message I get is "Synchronization incomplete” Is there any way to re-initialize the synchronization? I've tried removing the account from the phone but that didn't seem to work.
