View 4 RepliesI've had my Pearl 8120 for about a year or so and for the past 8 months or so it's been unexpectedly crashing, not so much at first, but it has gradually got worse to the point where the phone has become practically unusable, crashing almost every 5-10 mins. The crashing can happen at any time, whilst on a call, texting, emailing, web browsing, menu browsing etc.
Here's what happens:
The screen suddenly goes black, and the red light at the top lights up, then the screen lights up and I get a turning hourglass. This will remain on the screen for anywhere from 30 seconds to 5 minutes, during which I cannot do anything (turn it off, even taking the battery out doesn't fix it, as it returns to doing it when I put the battery back in). When it's done doing this, my home screen appears, giving me a message reading "Verifying Security Software", a loading bar which loads up to 100%. After this, I can use the phone (until it crashes again!), but it doesn't have the memory of the previous call (in other words, it doesn't show up in my recent call list, nor does it remember who the last person I called was in my address book), and I lose whatever txt/email I was typing. I thought it might be a faulty battery so I bought a brand new battery but still the same problem.
This crashing seems to be entirely random and I know I'm not accidentally pressing anything to cause it. There are days where it happens every few hours, but there are some days where its every 5 mins!My phone seems to have moods!
I feel like throwing my phone against a wall and watching as it smashes into a million pieces does that explain how I feel?
Basically, i found a BlackBerry Pearl 8100 O2 on the street yesterday. I know this might upset some people, but im going to keep it. Because i need a new phone! Now how should i go on about this? will it work with just inserting my SIM ?
View 10 Replies View RelatedCan anyone tell me if the Blackberry Desktop 6.0 properly supports synchronization between Outlook 2010 32-bit and a Pearl 8100 with device software v4.5.0.102 (Platform 2.7.0.85)?I first did a one-way sync from Outlook to my device (replacing all device data). That worked fine. However, using Calendar as an example, the next sync tried to delete all calendar entries from some point in 2009 and prior. It also identified changes to entries that were not changed at all!Sync'ing Task, Memos and Contacts yielded the same problem where items were identified as being changed when they were not. When trying different sequences of synchronization including doing a reset on my Pearl before resync'ing, I get different and inconsistent results. The Blackberry site says I have the latest version of device software, so...

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Pearl 8120. There is an issue where the phone will crash if I connect it to certain PCs via USB.When I say it crashes the screen goes blank, and the red light stays on. To recover from this point I have to unplug it and re-insert the battery. Though for example if I connect it while the PC has not booted into Windows then it will not crash. When I connect the phone via a charger cable it is also fine, and it never crashes on my own home PC.
View 3 Replies View RelatedYes, I have a Blackberry Pearl 8120 that I got used for fifty dollars after my old Blackberry Pearl 8100 died. Anyway, to make a long story short it randomly resets itself. The screen goes black, and the LED in the right-hand corner goes red...and then it turns on a few seconds later with a white screen and an hourglass in the center. After a minute or two, it reboots the homescreen and operating system as if nothing happened.
This happens at random intervals, and I do not know what is causing it. Sometimes it will happen several times in a row and other times it will not happen for several hours. It can happen at any time whether you are in the middle of a phone call or if you simply have it on a table and you are not even touching it.
I have done the following steps to determine the problem:
1. I have removed the media card to determine if that was the problem - No change
2. I have removed the SIM card to determine if that was the problem - No change
3. I have reinstalled the operating system - No change
4. I have tried clearing the message log - No change
5. I have made sure that the battery was not loose - No change
6. I have switched batteries - No change
7. I have tried wiping the memory - No change
The only apps I have on it are the original ones that it came with. I do not know what else it could be as I have done all that my carrier suggested. I would rather not have to get a new phone as I like this phone and I do not need all of the extra stuff on it that newer models have.
How do you put your own tune as a text alert.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have recently updated a software on a Garmin satnav that I use to pair with my 8120 for hands free phone usage while driving. Prior to update reception was excellent. Post update it is dreadful. The satnav is now Bluetooth vs 2.1 while my 8120 remains on vs 2.0. Is there a way to update Bluetooth on my 8120 to vs 2.1. They are meant to be 'backwards compatible?

How I can easily access the contacts - just telephone numbers - on the SIM card that would be great. My service provider advised me to select 'SIM from contacts' but I do not have this option to choose from, I have 'Addresses' only and the options are: move, hide, show all, add folder.

View 3 Replies View Relateddon't know if anyone can help me, but I'm having serious issues with this version of WLM on my pearl 8120.I tried updating the version via BlackBerry App World. Downloaded and apparently installed fine. Rebooted the device and it keeps crashing on the restart. basically it'll start to load, then hang there for about 5-15 mins, then the red led will come for approx 3-5 seconds then it will turn off and do it all over again.Only way I have found to get my phone turned on again, is to connect via blackberry desktop manager and removing wlm version2.5.69 and then it works fine. But It's a pain in the **bleep** as I don't have WLM on my phone and I really need it on there.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI just got my hands on an old Blackberry 8100 (OS4.2.1.96)Sadly, I'm almost certain that this phone won't be able to run 5, but while I was in high school this was my favorite phone and I recently just received one..for free. The phone's trackball doesnt work(clicking the trackball scrolls up), and the volume up doesn't work either. I'm not really going to use the phone as cellular device, but I would rather just have it on my desk as a souvenir...in working condition as a backup. So I've decided to buy a new housing for it, probably fixing the trackball problem, and then this is where I'm not sure. Would the new housing fix the volume bar problem also? Or would I have to actual replace parts on the phone?

I'm using Windows Vista.I type text messages and emails in different languages, but the only three of them that came with the phone were English, French, and Spanish. It rejects the spelling of my German words in emails and facebook posts, etc. I don't want to have to add every German word I know manually.I also would like to be able to use the SureType feature in German, but I can't figure out how to add it.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a bought a new Blackberry Pearl Flip 8220 model recently from a retailer. I have been facing a strange problem for the past two days. Whenever, I try to enable the blue tooth. The phone's Bluetooth does not get enabled. Please help in this regard as this is very annoying because I sync my Outlook and mobile using Bluetooth.
first things first -- a computer whiz I am not!!! I apologize if I come across as a complete **bleep** when it comes to computer jargon but I'm still in the "intermediate at best" phase of my computer knowledge.
I have a Blackberry Pearl 8230 with a 4G data card that I can't use, because I cannot connect my blackberry to the computer! It's plugged in with the USB cable, and the device charges, but the Desktop software never recognizes the device. It doesn't say "a new device has been added", and the Desktop software just says "Please connect your device". My husband has a blackberry that seems to connect no problem.
I wondered if there were issues connecting 2 devices to the same computer, so I connected my blackberry to my laptop and still no dice.I've taken my BlackBerry to the Telus store, and they have no issues with connections.
They upgraded the software on the BlackBerry for me but it still refuses to connect to the computer. What am I doing wrong? This is a fresh computer with a brand new download of Desktop software (just downloaded the other day).Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm getting rather annoyed at this point.
I got this phone yesturday, and when I did the set up, when it got to the e-mail part the only option I got was "I want to use a work email account with a BlackBerry Enterprise server" or "I want to skip e-mail setup"
I do not have a work e-mail account, and from what I've seen in order to get facebook or any other applications, I am going to need my e-mail to connect to the phone?
