BB Pearl :: Updating Bluetooth On 8120?
Mar 14, 2011
I have recently updated a software on a Garmin satnav that I use to pair with my 8120 for hands free phone usage while driving. Prior to update reception was excellent. Post update it is dreadful. The satnav is now Bluetooth vs 2.1 while my 8120 remains on vs 2.0. Is there a way to update Bluetooth on my 8120 to vs 2.1. They are meant to be 'backwards compatible?

I have a blackberry pearl 8120 and I don't have a data plan with it. I can use the wifi feature with no problem to connect to the internet anywhere except at home. My phone for some reason cannot locate my home wifi let alone connect to it.

I have a Pearl 8120. There is an issue where the phone will crash if I connect it to certain PCs via USB.When I say it crashes the screen goes blank, and the red light stays on. To recover from this point I have to unplug it and re-insert the battery. Though for example if I connect it while the PC has not booted into Windows then it will not crash. When I connect the phone via a charger cable it is also fine, and it never crashes on my own home PC.

Yes, I have a Blackberry Pearl 8120 that I got used for fifty dollars after my old Blackberry Pearl 8100 died. Anyway, to make a long story short it randomly resets itself. The screen goes black, and the LED in the right-hand corner goes red...and then it turns on a few seconds later with a white screen and an hourglass in the center. After a minute or two, it reboots the homescreen and operating system as if nothing happened.
This happens at random intervals, and I do not know what is causing it. Sometimes it will happen several times in a row and other times it will not happen for several hours. It can happen at any time whether you are in the middle of a phone call or if you simply have it on a table and you are not even touching it.
I have done the following steps to determine the problem:
1. I have removed the media card to determine if that was the problem - No change
2. I have removed the SIM card to determine if that was the problem - No change
3. I have reinstalled the operating system - No change
4. I have tried clearing the message log - No change
5. I have made sure that the battery was not loose - No change
6. I have switched batteries - No change
7. I have tried wiping the memory - No change
The only apps I have on it are the original ones that it came with. I do not know what else it could be as I have done all that my carrier suggested. I would rather not have to get a new phone as I like this phone and I do not need all of the extra stuff on it that newer models have.

I have just joined the bb world and swapped existing SIM from a basic NOKIA phone to 8120 Pearl. How I can easily access the contacts - just telephone numbers - on the SIM card that would be great. My service provider advised me to select 'SIM from contacts' but I do not have this option to choose from, I have 'Addresses' only and the options are: move, hide, show all, add folder.

don't know if anyone can help me, but I'm having serious issues with this version of WLM on my pearl 8120.I tried updating the version via BlackBerry App World. Downloaded and apparently installed fine. Rebooted the device and it keeps crashing on the restart. basically it'll start to load, then hang there for about 5-15 mins, then the red led will come for approx 3-5 seconds then it will turn off and do it all over again.Only way I have found to get my phone turned on again, is to connect via blackberry desktop manager and removing wlm version2.5.69 and then it works fine. But It's a pain in the **bleep** as I don't have WLM on my phone and I really need it on there.

I've had my Pearl 8120 for about a year or so and for the past 8 months or so it's been unexpectedly crashing, not so much at first, but it has gradually got worse to the point where the phone has become practically unusable, crashing almost every 5-10 mins. The crashing can happen at any time, whilst on a call, texting, emailing, web browsing, menu browsing etc.
Here's what happens:
The screen suddenly goes black, and the red light at the top lights up, then the screen lights up and I get a turning hourglass. This will remain on the screen for anywhere from 30 seconds to 5 minutes, during which I cannot do anything (turn it off, even taking the battery out doesn't fix it, as it returns to doing it when I put the battery back in). When it's done doing this, my home screen appears, giving me a message reading "Verifying Security Software", a loading bar which loads up to 100%. After this, I can use the phone (until it crashes again!), but it doesn't have the memory of the previous call (in other words, it doesn't show up in my recent call list, nor does it remember who the last person I called was in my address book), and I lose whatever txt/email I was typing. I thought it might be a faulty battery so I bought a brand new battery but still the same problem.
This crashing seems to be entirely random and I know I'm not accidentally pressing anything to cause it. There are days where it happens every few hours, but there are some days where its every 5 mins!My phone seems to have moods!
I feel like throwing my phone against a wall and watching as it smashes into a million pieces does that explain how I feel?

I have an 8220 pearl flip and until last week my bluetooth worked fine; then it lost connectivity. I've taken the battery out and put it back. I've downloaded the latest software. I've checked bluetooth in manage connections and it stays checked for about three seconds and then disappears. I've tried pairing in settings and it just says bluetooth disabled. I took it to the T-mobile store and they just tried to sell me a new phone. Nothing seems to work.

When updating my E63 contacts, calendar etc. uUsing PC-Suite via Bluetooth, every update asks the phone "Accept connection request from PC?" This doesn't occur when using a cable connection but is a real nuisance when using Bluetooth. Any way of automatically accepting the connection request?

I have a Blackberry 8230 that won't turn on. When the battery is charged, the red light flashes very slowly (about 10 seconds on, 10 seconds off). When I plug the USB cable into the computer, I see the BB hard drive for a brief second or two, then it disappears. It will appear briefly again about 20 seconds later, then disappear again. Is the battery shot? Or could there be something else going on? The phone was on the charger all night.

I still have the pearl, just wishing I could use it for calls and texting.

I have a Pearl 8100 which has developed a bad screen.I was given another 8100 as a replacement. Same network, T-Mobile. I want to copy all the data, address book, etc. and setup from the old 8100 to the new one. I backed up the old 8100 using Blackberry DM but when I restored to the new 8100 nothing was changed.
