View 3 RepliesI have been using an N900 for more than a month now and I had an iph0ne 2g before. Yesterday, I was trying to locate a place (London) using Ovi maps and I got completely lost. I never had such a problem before with google maps which pinpoint my location much more precisely (using EDGE) than Ovi maps using GPS. It might be that I am just dumb but has anyone had the same experience? how can I make Ovi maps more precise? using 3g instead of GPS?Many thanks for your time reading this and your reply if any.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've got a Blackberry Curve, 8330 (v4.5.0.191) (Platform 3.4.0.62), currently have Facebook 1.9.0.28 installed, running fine. I've gotten a notification saying Facebook 2.0 is available, but I cannot download it for some reason. I go to the "Options" setting within Facebook, "Check for Upgrade," get a notification saying there's one available, etc. Click the "Yes" button to perform the update, which opens the BlackBerry Browser. The page ends up being blank. The page address is url...
Have tried various emulation modes with the BlackBerry browser, as well as trying to get -somewhere- using Opera, which is also installed on my phone with no avail. I have no cord to sync my phone to my computer and do it that way, as I moved and a few things were misplaced.I've gone through the Blackberry App World, although it shows that the newest version is 1.9.0.28, even though I know there was a recent release. My phone is entirely up to date, as far as OS and everything else goes.Is there a place I could download the .jar/.jad file directly?
I have had my curve 8250 for about a month and I can't get signal at my home or anywhere else. I used to get connection pretty much everywhere but I cant get any. I tried a battery pull still did not work.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAm using a Curve 8350 and am unable to place calls through contacts folder. When you click on a contact and press send (the phone number is in the contact with area code), it rings once and says that the call cannot take place and it is an incorrect number. When you hand-dial the same exact phone number and press send, it goes through.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an unlocked TELUS Storm playing GSM on a Philippines carrier called Smart. The data connection and call reception quality here has been nothing but horrible. Dropped calls/Calls failed, etc are pretty rampant around here (no matter what part of town you're in)
Anyway, I'd _like_ to think it may be something to do with the fact that the device is not Smart authorized/sold device. However, the backward nature of cellphone networks here could argue me down.
Long story short, now that you know my troubles.. when I'm on a full GPRS/EDGE connection, I pull up the browser. Once I start getting ready to type in a URL, the GPRS/EDGE goes to gprs/edge. It happens about 98% of the time. This same thing happens when I go to URL from an email/sms etc. I can't seem to figure it out. I've been on .328, but upgrading to .419 as we speak. Thoughts would be nice.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have managed to get a low cost GPRS plan enabled on my blackberry 9300 curve device. With this I am able to use Google maps for navigation and Opera for general browsing.
However I am unable to use BB specific applications like LinkedIn and Facebook and apparently the root cause seems that BB browser does not connect via GPRS. It always needs BIS/BES. Is there a way to get around this and start using BB browser with the general GPRS plan.
I am using OS version 6.0.0.584.
I want to ask abut any IM that works without having BIS or BES on my blackberry 8520 Why I'm not using BIS if you ask, because the BIS is a little bit expensive here.
I've tried WindowsLiveMessenger - YahooMess for blackberry and they will only work on BIS.
I've tried ebuddy, but there's no ebuddy for blackberry. So I have to use ebuddyLITE and it is not great for chatting (refreshing all the time and its not user friendly)
Is there any suggestion for another IM that works only on normal GPRS? [without activating BIS]
My Balckberry Curve 8520 never picks up a 3 G signal even though I am in a 3G area and my colleagues pick up the 3G signal with no issue.

However i am now home and nothing has changed and i am still unable to use these resources. I have resetted my phone various times and done everything i could think off.

since 1 week i have discountinued with the service for some reasons and i have noticed that the balance has started geting deducted again ! and it follows a specific pattern every hour at exactly 4 mins passed (10:04 , 11:04, 12:04) the handset is trying to acces gprs i mean there r no 3rd party app installed on my fone except for foursquare, google maps, and bloomberg mobile!
i read in some other posts in the forum that there is some app which tries to use gprs backdoor!and since yesterday randomly my bb starts giving sumnotification sounds when i chk 4 any notificatin it is not showing anything!

My Curve 8520 (v5.0.0.681) on O2-UK has switched to GSM since last Friday (16th).Initially it happened to my girlfriend's Curve 8520, then mine and now it has happened to her sisters Curve 9300.
It has not happened to my girlfriend's parents Curve 9300. I also work 50 miles from home and it's not working so it's not a single tower issue. I have tried pulling the battery, reinstalling the software and a security wipe.
I contacted my carrier (O2-UK) who state that it's not a problem with their network and that they have had a lot of reports of the same issue in this past week, they're saying it's a Blackberry issue.
