Later i've got a data plan from operator and started using internet disabling Wifi. When i was back to home and started using Wifi disabling the Data Service from service provider, I couldn't access internet through Wifi.

Dec 8, 2011for the past week i am facing a intermittent connectivity issue in my ray, My GPRS plan is enabled and spoke to the network provider for the settings, but the issue is whenever i turn my gprs on the little arrow mark never comes in the notification bar even if i wait for a couple of minutes nothing happens, so i restarted my phone and GPRS started to work fine and after 15 - 30 minutes the connection drops automatically. Its really a pain because it works only for little time, but not its not conencting anymore.
Troubleshooting that i have tried?
1. Deleted the APN and manually added new APN by contacting my network provider
2. Restored my phones system settings ( After doing this the internet worked for a day and automatically dropped of, No its not even connecting )

Sep 19, 2011i am using GPRS services for now almost an year and half. i was having windows mobile till 16th Sept'11 on which i was using gprs very happily but on 17th Sept'11, i did purchase Xperia mini from G. V. Puntambekar(Pune based dealer). The phone is now installed OS as Andriod 2.3. Ever since i have purchased the phone i am not able to use GPRS services on it. I did speak to Airtel (my current service provider) and whatever settings they have given but not able to save them on my phone bcoz it asks for MCC and then MNC code. hence after talking to Airtel somehow i got these code. but depite of entering them into the settings along with other settings, i am still not able to use gprs. i was told that once you save the gprs manual settings it creates a profile on phone but it is not saving any profile on my phone. Sony dealer is sayingthat it is a service provider problem and Service provider is saying that we have given you all the settings so it is a phone manufacturer's problem. I am getting penalised in these two contradictory statements. Without GPRS the phone is like any ordinary phone. I feel like cheated even after paying Rs.13000/- and buying Sony's product. Feels like lesson learnt that never buy SONY product again..

Jan 8, 2010I have bought new Nokia 5130 Express Music handset on 26 Dec 2009 and Reliance GSM post paid connection. I have got settings from reliance from GPRS, WAP and MMS setting.The problem faced is whenever, I connect to opera mini browser, it connecting for 3 minutes and shows failed to connect to the internet. I thought, it is GPRS setting or network problem. But, after lot of enquiry with Reliance, they forwarded the settings.

Feb 6, 2010I have an unlocked TELUS Storm playing GSM on a Philippines carrier called Smart. The data connection and call reception quality here has been nothing but horrible. Dropped calls/Calls failed, etc are pretty rampant around here (no matter what part of town you're in)
Anyway, I'd _like_ to think it may be something to do with the fact that the device is not Smart authorized/sold device. However, the backward nature of cellphone networks here could argue me down.
Long story short, now that you know my troubles.. when I'm on a full GPRS/EDGE connection, I pull up the browser. Once I start getting ready to type in a URL, the GPRS/EDGE goes to gprs/edge. It happens about 98% of the time. This same thing happens when I go to URL from an email/sms etc. I can't seem to figure it out. I've been on .328, but upgrading to .419 as we speak. Thoughts would be nice.

Jun 7, 2011I have managed to get a low cost GPRS plan enabled on my blackberry 9300 curve device. With this I am able to use Google maps for navigation and Opera for general browsing.
However I am unable to use BB specific applications like LinkedIn and Facebook and apparently the root cause seems that BB browser does not connect via GPRS. It always needs BIS/BES. Is there a way to get around this and start using BB browser with the general GPRS plan.
I am using OS version 6.0.0.584.

Apr 2, 2011i have d bis service activated on my new curve 3g (full service)recently i have started noticing that my balance is geting deducted every now nd then so i decided to ask the operators whr is d balance geting deducted they tell me that i have been using gprs on my blackberry why would some1 use gprs when 3g bis is activated it dint make any sense to me so i decided to go to the nearby service center and there they tell me that since blackberry is a verry advanced phone it keeps trying to acces gprs even though bis is activated he suggested me dat there must be some 3rd party app which is trying to use gprs!so he suggested me i remoove all 3rd party apps and check if the same is happening! and i did so, since then for 3-4 days balance was not geting deducted!
since 1 week i have discountinued with the service for some reasons and i have noticed that the balance has started geting deducted again ! and it follows a specific pattern every hour at exactly 4 mins passed (10:04 , 11:04, 12:04) the handset is trying to acces gprs i mean there r no 3rd party app installed on my fone except for foursquare, google maps, and bloomberg mobile!
i read in some other posts in the forum that there is some app which tries to use gprs backdoor!and since yesterday randomly my bb starts giving sumnotification sounds when i chk 4 any notificatin it is not showing anything!

Jun 21, 2011I want to switch off the gprs/edge/g3 data services so that i can only use wifi for browsing thus stopping my pay as you go credit vanishing when it switched to gprs data with out telling me .I found the setting that turns off data services but that switches everything off with no options provided to select what to switch off. BB Curve :: Data Has Switched To GSM From EDGE Or GPRS?
Dec 22, 2011My Curve 8520 (v5.0.0.681) on O2-UK has switched to GSM since last Friday (16th).Initially it happened to my girlfriend's Curve 8520, then mine and now it has happened to her sisters Curve 9300.
It has not happened to my girlfriend's parents Curve 9300. I also work 50 miles from home and it's not working so it's not a single tower issue. I have tried pulling the battery, reinstalling the software and a security wipe.
I contacted my carrier (O2-UK) who state that it's not a problem with their network and that they have had a lot of reports of the same issue in this past week, they're saying it's a Blackberry issue.

Apr 13, 2012I have a BB 8900 curve which has not been used before. The carrier Vodafone has enabled my BB service and I should have full data. However, the device is showing gprs and not GPRS and the service books are not downloading as a result.
When I put my SIm in a mates BB 8900 it does show as full GPRS.is there a setting in the device that allows partial data service that I need to change to give me full data, or do I just have another faulty 8900 device?
