View 2 RepliesEver since I downloaded something like "Blackberry OS version 5" from the web, and updated my device using the desktop manager, I have been unable to download new apps.Somehow I managed to get BBM back on -- the phone would have been useless otherwise -- but no more apps will get downloaded.Everything seems to work, whether I download via the web, or use desktop manager to install the apps, there are no errors and it says it worked -- but there is no icon for the app in any of the folders. For example, BB App world: The desktop manager says it is installed, but it's not accessible because there is no icon anywhere. My carrier say they can't help me any further as it's a device issue.I have got "show all" on, so the icons are definitely not hidden.I have tried a battery pull dozens of times.I have tried a backup using desktop manager, then factory reset the device, then restored -- several times.I have tried uninstalling the apps through desktop manager and installing them again.I don't understand what settings are supposed to be changed after I do a factory reset and restore from backup.
Carrier: Orange
Device: 8900
Platform: 4.3.0.23
App Version: 5.0.0.90 (91)
File Free: 113507146
Is it possible version 5 doesn't work with Orange at all?
Following the link to "Orange UK" on this page, I can see Orange does list v5 for download:

View 9 Replies View RelatedDesktop manager informed me that there was an update available, so I opted to go ahead with it.Version 5.0.0.411 installed successfully and all data was restored.
Phone does everything except receive incoming texts - voice, email are working fine. Vodafone suggested downgrading to the version 4, so I got 4.4.6.1.310 by following links from Vodafone's web site.Still no incoming texts, more time talking with Vodafone conclude it's a problem with the handset.Their third level support people say it's a return to base "for zapping".
I'm trying to update my BB 8900 from 4.6.1 to 5 but am getting some errors. I get as far as the available versions ( using IE9 ) and i select 5.0 Bundle 1682 and I get the following error
There was an error updating your software This BlackBerry® Device Software upgrade includes new features and significant enhancements to the BlackBerry® solution and, as such, is only available to users with an active BlackBerry subscription. To learn more about BlackBerry® service, [URL]. Now I'm registered with BB. I have been using the desktop manager to try and update also but also getting errors. I havent unplugged the battery, and the laptop I'm using is a vista machine 32bit with loads of hard drive and loads of ram. I dont know what i'm doing wrong, I thought or figured it should be a pretty easy process.
Also I have downloaded "8900M_PBr5.0.0_rel1682_PL5.2.0.104_A5.0.0.1036_Vodafone_Ireland" and ran this but still now update.
I had my curve 8900 for about a month now and I currently have the 4.6.1.231 OS. I wanted to know when I would receive an update for a newer OS version. How long would it take to get this upgrade?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have just bought a new laptop (Sony Vaio running Windows 7 and Microsoft Outlook 2010).
I am using the Blackberry 8900 Curve with Vodafone.
Like everyone else, I could not synchronise my blackberry with Outlook 2010 and was told to wait until August for version 6 of Desktop Manager.
I just installed it! But when I tried to launch Desktop Manager is simply says "Blackberry desktop software has stopped working. Windows is checking for a solution to the problem" and then I get " Blackberry desktop software has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available".
I un-installed and reinstalled. No change.
Prior to downloading version 6 I had downloaded and installed version 5 with Service Pack - the file name was 501_b049_multilanguage. That one installed and launched but there was NO WAY to synchronise Blackberry Curve 8900 with Outlook 2010!
My PC is brand new and "TOTALLY CLEAN" of any special install. The only application running on this laptop other than Microsoft Windows 7 (32 bit) and Microsoft Office 2010 (including Outlook 2010) are McAfee (which I disabled to ensure this was not the reason desktop manager would not work!) and an HP all in one printer!
IT HAS BEEN A WHOLE MONTH since Microsoft launched Outlook 2010, not sure what the issue is but both Desktop Manager 5 and Desktop Manager 6 have VERY SERIOUS ISSUES which should have been screened through QA.
Is there anyway I can install the OS 5.0 software for my BlackBerry 8900. Is it reliable or advisable to install it onto my phone. Is it official from BlackBerry itself and where would I find the download link.I work on a MAC as well so my Desktop Manager is OSX verision.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've downloaded the trial version of Beejive and want to install it. I am using OS 4.6.1.231 and am using the latest Blackberry Desktop program (v5.0.1). The instructions to install Beejive say to connect my BB to my comp and choose the application loader to add Beejive. I then "Browse" to the alx file and click on it.Fine. I do all that and then click on "next." I then see that I will I be reinstalling all the programs that have check marks by them. I decide I just want to install Beejive only so I go back and untick the apps I want to leave alone but there is only "remove" or "install" and that unticking one would result in its removal. Is installing Beejive through BB Desktop the only way to get it to work? Is there no way to go to get a jad file and download that for an automated install?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm writing from Austria, Europe. I just got my BlackBerry Curve 8900 few days ago, everything's fine, I like it a lot. I've got just a problem with the desktop manager software. I installed it through the CD delivered with my BlackBerry and got the newest version of the software through the internet as well. But somehow, when I open the Media Manager Section, I got a button to install the Media Manager, and when I click on it, it doesn't work. I tried it several times already, but I alsways get a notification, that there's a problem and I have to put the user tools CD or try it when I'm connected to the internet. I put the CD and I'm also always connected to the internet, but it doesn't work. So I can't put any media files into my BlackBerry.

View 1 Replies View Relatedthere is a certain app which i have been using daily for years on my two separate ancient ipods and my new iphone. i updated the app recently on the iphone and the new version is horrible. i want to go back in time!
unfortunately, with my monkeying around trying to make this happen, all i have managed to do is delete the new version from itunes and the old version from one of my ipods (when i deleted it from itunes, it deleted it from the ipod when syncing-- without asking me!).
but: it still exists in its lovely (older) form on the other old ipod.
is there any way to get it onto the iphone and the other ipod? i cant seem to find a way. if i can pull that off, then all i need to do is not update it and i can use it like the good old days.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have decided to install Garmin Mobile on my Nokia 5230. I have asked the official Garmin support for informations about Garmin Mobile and Symbiaa S60 v5. They answered that the last version of Garmin Mobile is v5.00.60 and in theory it should almost certain work with S60v5 operating system (the version v5.00.50 should too), but the product is discontinued so they are not 100% sure. They sent me a list where I can still buy Garmin Mobile but I am not sure to spend 100€ because I'm not totaly sure if this will work with Nokia 5230. There's lots of info about Garmin v5.00.40 and v5.00.50 working on Nokia 5800 but no info about Nokia 5230.Is there any Nokia 5230 user on this forum with Garmin Mobile installed? If yes which version of Garmin Mobile do you have?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI just looked at my test menus (menu-menu-back-menu back-menu-back-back etc etc to get the phone-specific info) and it says that my x10 is from France. This explains the Serve.Me app being in French, havn't been able to change the language used in this app.Being English educated and living in Australia, this native (non-removable) French Serve.Me app is pretty useless as my French is "tres mal".Is there anything I can do to install and English version/change the country? Apart from 'rooting' the phone ( rather apt term as Aussies, the word 'root' has also other meanings) which I assume I can remove the native apps. What other parts of the phone are customised for a specific country? I've been able to use everything in English so far - and the 2.1 upgrade is not available yet for my x10!

I got an new old stock iPhone4 from a relative a couple of days ago and am now trying to set it up. Everything went smoothly until I tried connecting it to the computer. When I hook it up, iTunes tells me that the iPhone will only work with iTunes 11.1 or later versions. I have a Macbook Pro (not too old, Duocore, 4Gb Ram, etc.) with MacOS X 10.5.8. Apparently I can't install iTunes 11.1 or any later version on my operating system and I really don't want to upgrade to a new operating system just for my iPhone. Is there any way to sync my iPhone to iTunes without buying anything additional?
