Jul 11, 2010Is there anyway I can install the OS 5.0 software for my BlackBerry 8900. Is it reliable or advisable to install it onto my phone. Is it official from BlackBerry itself and where would I find the download link.I work on a MAC as well so my Desktop Manager is OSX verision.

Jul 3, 2010I've downloaded the trial version of Beejive and want to install it. I am using OS 4.6.1.231 and am using the latest Blackberry Desktop program (v5.0.1). The instructions to install Beejive say to connect my BB to my comp and choose the application loader to add Beejive. I then "Browse" to the alx file and click on it.Fine. I do all that and then click on "next." I then see that I will I be reinstalling all the programs that have check marks by them. I decide I just want to install Beejive only so I go back and untick the apps I want to leave alone but there is only "remove" or "install" and that unticking one would result in its removal. Is installing Beejive through BB Desktop the only way to get it to work? Is there no way to go to get a jad file and download that for an automated install?

Aug 3, 2010Ever since I downloaded something like "Blackberry OS version 5" from the web, and updated my device using the desktop manager, I have been unable to download new apps.Somehow I managed to get BBM back on -- the phone would have been useless otherwise -- but no more apps will get downloaded.Everything seems to work, whether I download via the web, or use desktop manager to install the apps, there are no errors and it says it worked -- but there is no icon for the app in any of the folders.For example, BB App world: The desktop manager says it is installed, but it's not accessible because there is no icon anywhere.My carrier say they can't help me any further as it's a device issue.I have got "show all" on, so the icons are definitely not hidden.I have tried a battery pull dozens of times.I have tried a backup using desktop manager, then factory reset the device, then restored -- several times.I have tried uninstalling the apps through desktop manager and installing them again.I don't understand what settings are supposed to be changed after I do a factory reset and restore from backup.

At the stage of " reconnecting to JVM" an error message occurs stating "application loader Unable to connect to your device" I had tried all the options like Jl_cmder ..but still nothing happens. Jun 13, 2010I'm writing from Austria, Europe. I just got my BlackBerry Curve 8900 few days ago, everything's fine, I like it a lot. I've got just a problem with the desktop manager software. I installed it through the CD delivered with my BlackBerry and got the newest version of the software through the internet as well. But somehow, when I open the Media Manager Section, I got a button to install the Media Manager, and when I click on it, it doesn't work. I tried it several times already, but I alsways get a notification, that there's a problem and I have to put the user tools CD or try it when I'm connected to the internet. I put the CD and I'm also always connected to the internet, but it doesn't work. So I can't put any media files into my BlackBerry.

However whenever I check for updates via the blackberry site the desktop manger pops up and does not offer this upgrade. All it says it 4.6.1 (current) and the rest are downgrades, so I'm not quite sure what I need to do to get the new OS to even appear, much less download it and work.

Jul 14, 2011My phone is a curve 8900.......Okay, so yesterday around noon, my bbm starts freezin up in between chats, so I took the phone off and then turned it back on a few times. Seemed to be working fine, though I didnt use bbm again for the rest of the day, that on/off was frustrating enough.....I went to bed last night and had at least one bar of charge. When I woke up this morning the phone is off. Strange....because sometimes I go to bed with the battery on red and it lasts thru the nite. Okay, so I proceed to press the end call button to turn on the phone....nothing... Next move, remove and replace battery and sim card....still nothing...next step......put the phone to charge.... its been charging for two hours now and still nothing...... the red light to the top left of the phone is on & thats it... the phone still is nt coming on..!

Jan 1, 2010I think I have had this issue since I upgraded to os 5 .411. What happens is while my screen's black or even in standby, the backlight goes on by itself for a few seconds. This interrupts even auto standby. My uncles 8900 didn't have this issue till yesterday when I upgr his bb to os 5 as well. I'm forced to turn my bb upside down at nighttime.

Jan 23, 2010it seems with my new 8900 i picked up i cannot update to any os other than stock 4.6 ver(.231) or downgrade to(.114) to any other version. I have reinstalled dm to the current version and still nothing. I have download multiple new 5.0 os(.348-.411) and deleted the vendor file and when i plug the berry in after installation it goes to check for a update and it does not find any. If you then try to go thru dm and update software it only has those two older versions listed even though i installed the newer ones.

I read that it doesn't wipe memory or anything (unlike my old, non-BB phone)plus the reload time when I turn it back on seems way too quick for the option to even be an "ON/OFF" function. So what does it do, exactly? Is there still battery drainage? And...is there a way to clean up the memory without doing a battery pull?
