The facebook icon is permanently on my screen telling me I have 2 unread messages, but I haven't? How can I get rid of them? I have de-installed and re-installed FB but no joy!
View 1 RepliesI have a few email addresses integrated with Blackberry OS 5.0.0.459 on the Curve 8530.
I set the inbox settings so that some of the email addresses do not show in the Messages inbox, however, they still show a small icon notification at the top tray when there are unread messages there.
How can I customize the unread messages notification tray icon so that it doesn't show unread emails from certain email accounts?
A hard reset (remove the battery while the BB is on) seems to have worked. I say seemed since it has been reported on this board that it may return when the "service books" are updated...I'm new to BBs. I just purchased it today and against my better judgment installed FAcebook (FB). After getting a deluge of mindless drivel pushed to my new BB I decided FB was not coming near my BB again.So I found the icon - menu - delete. I restart the BB as instructed and to my surprise the icon is still there.I tried to move the icon into a folder but I don't know how to move it because the menu button does nothing when I select the icon and press menu.
And there are some FB messages too. I deleted the FB messages - when I check my messages it reports I have no messages in FB ... BUT there is a little FB icon at the top of the screen showing one message. This one message seems to be relic but I have no idea how to reset or delete it.I also tried the BB desktop software. It shows that it is uninstalled. There appears to be no way of deleting icon, moving the icon, or deleting the FB message indicator either.
The facebook icon is not appearing on the home screen. I have deleted the facebook app, downloaded it again, removed the battery, resent service books, re-registered my Blackberry. Nothing works.

Is there a fix for this? When I was on ios as soon as I had all emails read the counts from the app icons used to disappear.
View 3 Replies View RelatedOn my old bb, it always said that I had 3 unread messages, but I searched everywhere and couldn't find them. I just got a new bb today and when all my data got transferred over, my new one is now saying that I have 3 unread messages. I've deleted all old messages, emails and voicemails. I also removed my email account from my phone and it is still there. I'm not sure what else to check or how to get rid of it.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy work Blackberry 8330, using Lotus Notes for email, will take an email I respond to, and within a minute or so of responding to that original email, the original email reverts to "unread" status. This happens every time. It is not "New, Unread", only "Unread". Emails replied to on my PC do not have the same effect on my Blackberry. Is this a setting issue or just one of those things we have to live with?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI use Sprint and everytime I miss a call the Messages icon appears and does not disappear until I open the messages folder and open the missed call message. This is incredibly annoying for me, as I usually just press the send key and see what calls I have missed. Doing this does not clear the messages icon or notification.
I really dont need missed calls sent to Messages, the only reason I ever use the Messages folder is to clear the icon from my screen.Can anyone help me either disable this icon or alter what is sent to Messages?
I have searched around and found many problems faced regarding the email icon showing unread emails but in actual fact there are none. My problem however is the opposite of that - there are unread emails but it is not indicating as such.
This is specifically for Gmail as all my other email accounts are showing unread emails just fine. It is a minor issue but it does get on my nerves trying to figure this out.
Recent activities include upgrading OS to OS5 and changing telco, doubt if these are the cause of it. I have tried deleting and creating the email account and battery pull to no avail.
Just upgraded from 8330 to 8530. I am not a moron with these phones, but I can not get an unread email notification to disappear. I have no new messages, I have done repeated battery pulls, I have changed themes, I have gone through all my email accounts. I havd searched through this board, and don't see any other ideas that might solve this issue. At this point the little #1 at the top of my screen is my arch nemesis. Anyone have any other ideas?

Anyway the problem I have is Facebook and Whatsapp do NOT show the number of notifications on Icon only in the status bar. Here's a couple of screen captures to show you what I mean.
I have a Bold 9700, everything was working perfectly up until this morning. I received a Facebook inbox message, but when I try and read it all it displays is the message subject and nothing else. Over the course of the day I received a few more inbox messages but all of them I can only see the message subject and not the message itself.I have reset the phone, deleted facebook and re-installed but did not work.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI currently upgraded to the new BlackBerry Curve 8530 after having the Curve 8330 for 2 years. For the past week I have had nothing but problems. I pulled the battery out 4 times over the past week, and now I am having some problems with the SMS and MMS Text icon. When my phone receives an SMS or MMS message I click on the icon and read the message, and either respond or do not respond. Then when I back out and go back to my home screen, the SMS and MMS icon still indicates that I have an unread message. There is NO SMS or MMS indicator icon at the top of my screen to alert me of how many messages there are, because there are no new/old unread messages. I tried pulling the battery out twice, and it corrects the problem for a little bit (maybe an hour) and then reverts right back to it's annoying ways.
Please help me out. I attached a photo to this discussion so hopefully it will make it easy for whomever is responding to fully understand what is going on.
When I updated Facebook the Facebook Icon stopped working. I tried to delete it but a messege came up say Facebook already scheduled for deletion. Deletion will occur when handheld is restarted. How do I restart the handheld device? I have an 8520 v5
View 2 Replies View RelatedI upgraded from a 822 to Icon, and the only complaint i have is how i get facebook messages through the default text/message app.
On the 822 it would be almost instantaneous, maybe 1 minute max after getting it on my desktop browser. Now i will usually get them hours upwards of 12, later.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm using a Torch 9800 and I have a message icon in the little notification bar in between the profile selector and the search but I have no messages. I have no voicemail that I haven't listened to, no unread facebook messages or emails, no missed calls, nothing that I can see that would create the little envelope message icon and if I click on it it does not show that I have any messages - only my calender entries. This happened about a month ago and then happened again 2 days ago so I now have 2 messages showing but no messages which is so irritating. Not stopping my phone from working or anything horrid like that, just an irritation as I think I have a message when I don't actually have any unread messages. I have also tried to reboot a number of times but then 1st thing I see when it reboots is those 2 stupid messages that don't exist.

The ONLY way I've been able to find my text messages is to go to "search", type in "tex" (no more because it mis directs me) then the icon with all the messages is there. I tried the BB button and do NOT get an option to move the folder. The ONLY way I've been able to find it is to use the specific search method as stated above. I've been working on the problem for 2 hours now since a friend told me via Facebook that she had sent me a text.
View 2 Replies View Relatedi have a blackberry curve 9300 that was worning fine, untill i made the last upfgrade for teh new facebook version a few days ago. since the new FB version, when i get facebook notifications, they don't show on top of the screen (under teh clock) like teh bbm and the what's app notifications. now, for facebook, i only get teh red notification fot on teh folder where FB iis and on teh FB icon. nothihng on top on teh main screen like it used to.
