My scroll pad on by blackberry curve 8900 3g is keeps stopping working for long periods of time, i have obivously tried rebotting the device by taking out the battery when when ON and it has worked a couple of times but then it freezes again. The phone is only a couple of months old

I have a 8900 running OS5 and I can't seem to get the device to scroll thru pages like sliding it scrolls line per line but I would like to know how to make it scroll like sliding. My friend has a 8900 with 4.6 OS and when she goes thru pages on her browser the scrolling same thing on her twitter app and facebook. Does anyone know how can I enable this scrolling effect on my blackberry?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have had my curve 8530 for about a year and a half. I do quite a bit of texting and bbm'ing. Last night I was able to scroll over my icons but when I stopped at the "contact" icon and pressed it (to look up a contact), my phone froze. It seems to work on the other icons (ie. bbm, calendar, websearch, email etc) only the adress book seems to freeze my mouse. Each time it happens I have to turn the entire phone off and re-boot. It has happened at least 3 times today already!! Is there some solution I can use to maybe clean the mouse?

Today I noticed out of nowhere that my led indicator no longer works for any types of msgs. I am running Berry buzz on my 8900 so i thought maybe it was that....i uninstalled and reinstalled the app and no alerts are working still.
Of course, i initially tried a battery pull...and when i put the battery back in the led went red so i know its not burnt out or anything. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Im thinking of jumping from os .250 to the 5.0 os but im concearned about berry buzz working. Thats my most important app.
My trackball and keypad are frozen if there is no SIM in the device. However, they start working when I put a SIM into my 8900. I run os 822 and don't have any problems otherwise. Though this isn't a show stopper, I was wondering as to why this happens.

Now My carrier is Airtel and I have no data plan with my carrier.When I try to connect my phone with WiFi, Internet is working fine in browsers (Both in Internet explorer and Opera) but applications like gmail, facebook are not working. i have a bbcurve 8900 and all of the buttons have just stopped working the device loads and the screen comes on when i insert the battery. I can recieve calls txts bbms but cannot answer any of them as the buttons rent working.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI wonder if my 8900 has a virus? 2 weeks ago my keypad stopped working all of a sudden (all but the track ball although the clicking down of the trackpad doesn't) Now after reading through some websites, I was convinced it was a hardware fault but I decided that evening to try to back up my data and update the OS. I updated the OS and low and behold, my keypad started working again so obviously not a harware fault but now the keypads gone again and I try reinstalling the software and some of the keys work.... could I have a virus on my BB? is there a virus killer out there for BB?

Recently updated to V5.0.0.461 (Platform 5.2.0.42)My issue is when attempting to use my camera in the video format, I get "Failed to start recording"..I AM able to take pictures just fine. I have plenty of available memory as I have a 4 gig card with roughly 155 MB used. Obviously memory isnt the issue.
I havent seen any posts that state this issue or anything close as of yet. (Unless I missed it of course)My provider is TMobile - But the Software was from another provider. Overall, the phone has run fine on the 5.0.0.461 Software, a few things here and there but I have worked through them.
Pulled battery and re-booted but that has made no difference.

For some weeks now, I have been unable to access the internet via the blackberry browser (I can access via Vodafone WAP and can recieve e-mails via corporate account, but not google mail) and any apps using this browser have also stopped working. I get various error messages 'a communication failure has occurred', 'device unable to connect to internet'.

I can't get to my email, bbm, text, browser, etc needless to say it's extremely frustrating, I have cleaned the trackball with alcohol and it seemed to work in the beginning but it doesn't work now. Is there a way to use the keyboard to get to the icons such as email without using the trackball.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've never been able to use blackberry maps, as I don't have a data plan, and my 8900 is blocked from all data usage aside from wifi. Blackberry maps just never loads the maps, which is understandable. I'm on rogers by the way. So I've installed 5.0 recently, and I loaded up blackberry maps while I was fooling around, and it started downloading the maps and such. No matter what I have done, this has NEVER worked in the past. I don't have any gps capabilities, but the maps are downloading. What happened here? I've used 5.0 before, and this hasn't worked. And I don't have a data plan still.
One oddity is the maps load extremely strange (random pieces missing in the middle), and the application itself is glitchy. It will freeze when I zoom in or pan around occasionally, and its really unusable. I'm using the latest officially released 5.0, 461 I believe.
Long Story Short. Data Randomly stopped working, no email, no bbm, no browser, no facebook Called FIDO Reset Switch, Data plan removed/put back on, security reset. Still no email, no bbm , no browser, no facbeook, but apps like google maps work.

View 4 Replies View Relatedmy blackberry curve has stopped working again, this is the third time that the fault has developed and this time it lasted a week, each time the device gets returned I'm assured that the fault has been rectified. So far its had the software upgraded, its also had the keypad replaced and an internal service and its now broken again
I have been onto vodafone and all they can do is repair the device again but there getting nowhere with it as each repair only lasts a week is there anyway I can get this replaced through blackberry as vodafone seem to be completely rubbish at resolving this one. I don't even mind getting a refurbished unit or an older model, just something that works. I have tried redoing the firmware, I have also done numerous battery pulls but I'm getting no luck
I updated my OS on my 8900 to the latest version yesterday 5.0.0.681 Most of it looks the same, however I used to use the lock ley (top left ) on my handset, to password lock my unit before putting it in my pocket. Now I find this only put the unit into and out of standby. Does anyone know why this has been changed? Can it be changed back? I am really angry that this usefull feature has been removed without the ability to customise my handset and put it on.Why could it not have been an option to change what this key does? From a quick search on Google I see lots of other people have the same problem, and some are even paying to download aps to fix the problem!! For now I have changed my side convience key to activate the password lock, so all I have to do is keep remembering to press side button instead of top button. I cant even find anywhere that I can contact RIM about this, and request they reinstate the lock key. Very disapointed with the way this has been handled and the lack of support / advice / comment from RIM.

View 49 Replies View RelatedI am facing BB8900 device hanging problem since few months. Due to no reason the device gets hanged and no button works. Power is still on. To resolve I upgraded the OS also with latest.. but still even in ON condition buttons are not working. No recognition. Earlier when it was hanging after some weird buttons behaviour it was later working ok after 10-12 hrs.. I was hoping same but this time when I upgraded software from desktop software then I am not able to accept the T&C of BB. I am not able to press OK button and still phone is in Hang condition. Even removing battery does not work, same thing repeats...
