BB Curve 8900 :: Backlight On By Itself?
Jan 1, 2010I think I have had this issue since I upgraded to os 5 .411. What happens is while my screen's black or even in standby, the backlight goes on by itself for a few seconds. This interrupts even auto standby. My uncles 8900 didn't have this issue till yesterday when I upgr his bb to os 5 as well. I'm forced to turn my bb upside down at nighttime.

Jan 9, 2010my backlight timeout is set for 30 seconds. when i am watching a song or anything on media player, backlight doesn’t go off after 30 seconds, which is obviously normal.
however when i am watching a video on Internet using bolt browser, the screen goes black after 30 seconds. it should not!
BB Curve :: No Backlight Or LED Light On 8530?
Apr 6, 2011I dropped my Blackberry Curve 8530 back around Christmas 2010, and the trackpad stopped working. I could click on things, but I couldn't select other things. I took the battery out and let it sit for a few hours, and when I started back up, it was fine, and I haven't had any problems since. Today I was using my phone, and I noticed that the trackpad had started acting up again. I could open my very first app on my homescreen, but I couldn't scroll up or down or to the left or right. So I pulled out the battery, left it out for a bit, and now the screen seems to be broken. At first I thought my phone wouldn't even turn on, but I can see that it's turned on, there's just no backlight. The LED light doesn't work, so really, I can't do anything on my phone but dial out and receive calls. The screen looks black since the light doesn't seem to be working. I plan on replacing the LCD screen first to see if that helps, since it's cheaper than buying a new blackberry. If I replace the LCD, will that fix the lighting, or not?

Aug 19, 2011I have a Blackberry 8900. To start, I woke up one morning and had a white screen and an error 502. I wasn't able to fix the issue immediately since I had class. I'm usually more attentive to my phone but I'm in law school. Anyway, the next day I went to try to fix my phone, it would not power on at all. I just got the red light flash. When plugging it in to my computer, I got the sound it was connected but the AppLoader, JML_Cmder and DTM would not recognize the device. Frustrated, I put the phone aside again to concentrate on school.
So, I've decided to give this another shot but now it's gotten worse. The phone does nothing unless it's plugged up and it's still just that annoying red light blinking. I keep the phone plugged and remove the battery...still that blinking and the pattern is long pause, blink, short pause, blink, blink, blink repeat. Again, there is no activity when the phone is unplugged. Same thing when I plug it into my computer. The battery does not make a difference and doing a battery pull does not work.
My computer does not recognize my device at all (no sounds, no connection, etc). I have tried to let it charge from a wall charger and it did nothing but that blink pattern for 12 hours. Again, I have tried the AppLoader through c:program filescommon files esearch in motionapp loader, I have tried using the Command Prompt, I have tried JML_Cmder, I have tried the battery pull, I have re-installed both the DTM and the Blackberry USB and Modem drivers. Anything else I could possibly try? Also, does anyone know what that blink pattern means?

Jan 26, 2012I have a curve 8900 that won't turn of suddenly after I got the battery out and then put it back.The red light is flashing and the screen is black. It is also can not connect to the BB Desktop. When I tried to update the phone to be able to connect it the update is stick when it is trying to initialize the phone.

So straight away i put it on charge, but after about 10 mins nothing came up, only a solid red light indicator in the top right corner of the phone. I have tried EVERYTHING i can find online and nothing seems to be working :'( it only shows red light when on and off charge, my computer wont detect the device and when connected to the pc the solid red light shows up.. but then goes off after about 10 mins!

Aug 16, 2010I've updated my BB 8900 OS a couple of days ago. It worked fine for 1 day and then it popped up with an error message that disappaered really quickly and it go into a loop.
I tried to re-install the OS 5 and the app loader recognises the BB and the PIN is showing, but when I click next it get's stuck on "connecting with device (ARM)". The only thing the BB does now is blink its red light like morse code long-fast-fast-fast-long.

After this the greenish yellowish LED light starts blinking to tell me its charging. I absolutely hate that light and can't stand it. May 7, 2010Last week my girlfriend dropped my BB in water that was real quick (3 secs | kitchen sink) and it wasn't that bad but as precaution I pulled put battery and put in jar with uncooked rice. After about a week took I out tried it yesterday to get it working for about 6 hours and no use.
It's just total dead just very very long red light flashing
I have tried Jl_Cmder doesn't seems to be working
I Can see it connected with PC but not DM
I have tried APPLOADER with jvm and no jvm just stuck on waiting for device initialization for hours and hours and keep sending error device not found.
And yes there was no sign of life for about 4 to 5 hours but after pulling out battery and connecting it to external charger I am getting a battery sign on screen.

May 7, 2010My 8900 turns on the red light when I pop the battery in, I press the power button and the screen turns on but just shows white. After letting it power on for a few minutes I call myself (by using a friends phone) and I can answer and talk.
I searched everywhere. The computer can read the PIN #, just in case though I wiped it and reloaded the OS. Bought a T6 screwdriver, took it apart, disconnected then reconnected the display cord then turned it back on and same old white screen.

Jul 24, 2010I had an earlier post...that solution worked for a day or two.Now, BB won't charge at all.
-it appears that BB is draining the battery from a full charge battery after unplugging and powering on....w/out any use of unit.
-the red LED light comes on after plugging via a/c charge. After about 10 seconds, the LED light goes out...and indication that it's not charging.
-Battery is a new battery, and is completely dead.
-overall, it appears that unit starts a charge, then just stop charging.

May 22, 2010I had an 8310 and just bought an 8900 brand new off of eBay. I used the 8310's speakerphone A LOT for listening to music and loved it! I always took the back of the phone off too so that it wasn't coming through 2 little holes through the top. Is the sound quality and volume of the 8900 equal to or greater than the 8300 with its batter door off?

However whenever I check for updates via the blackberry site the desktop manger pops up and does not offer this upgrade. All it says it 4.6.1 (current) and the rest are downgrades, so I'm not quite sure what I need to do to get the new OS to even appear, much less download it and work.

Jul 29, 2010I just bought a brand new blackberry curve 8900 and i've noticed that the keyboard backlight won't come on. I've read its supposed to detect dim light and turn on, on its own but I can be in a pitch black room and it wont turn on. Also i read that if you cover the led indicator light it should come on, tried that and it didn't work. I also went to the keypad and display settings and turned diming off and pretty much no matter what I do I can't get the backlight to turn on.
