The lock/unlock button has a crack next to it. I am afraid it will get bigger. The phone is 2 months old, the crack is from locking and unlocking, extra insurance through FUTURESHOP does not cover it apparently (last time I buy from them).This should not happen, does blackberry stand behind their products

View 14 Replies View RelatedI just got my Blackberry Bold 9780 last night and the 'lock/unlock' button on the top left doesn't work at all. It feels somewhat sticky - the mute key on the right side makes a clicky sound when pressed down whereas the lock button just presses in without making any contact. I understand that you can set a password but that is rather inconvenient as you have to wait 1 minute for it to lock and every time I want to use the phone I have to type in a code. I can lock the phone by holding down A/* but then there is no way of unlocking it again. the phone came with the holster because that seems to unlock it for me - but this is obviously less than ideal.What can I do? Is there a shortcut to unlocking like on the Curve 8520 (a/* and the call button)?

It always was working nice, till one day ago.The lock/unlock (mute?) button doesn't work properly anymore.I can lock my blackberry with the lock/unlock button (and the a/* key) but I can't unlock it anymore with the lock/unlock button. View 3 Replies View RelatedYet another problem with my Bold 9930 I'm sad at this point that the device I love so much is already dying on me, hasn't even been 3 months yet I'm going to mention all the problems with this device, but the one that started few weeks ago and has gotten to the point where it just adds on to the frustrationAfter locking the device, when i try to unlock, using the top lock button, I just see blank screen, screen and keypad lit up thou. Sometimes when i restart my device, it won't display the blackberry logo and the progress bar, i just get the blank lit up screen. and after 5 - 10 minutes or so, i use random buttons on the keypad to get the display back, but nothing works. i just see blank screen and lit up keypad. Display would randonly get back but its a pain in the &&& to get the device display back after so many tries

I have two storm 2's and on one of them the lock button clicks real good. The other one is more mussy. Any ideas? Should I get the one replaced with a refurb? Other than that it works fine.

View 17 Replies View RelatedI have been using bold2-9700 for the past 2 years and till today I havent faced any problem with it but recently, like 3 months back I bought a new bold 4-9900. It was working fine but by the second month it started giving me hangs and it got a bit slow, I know that was expected so I dint really care much but from the past 2-3 days I have been facing a new problem; my bold 4-9900 lock button is not working at all, I have even checked the settings but I could not find any thing related to it, I am really tensed as it has just been 3 months and it has given me problems.
The second problem I have facing is my scroll is not working properly as well, If I am on the menu then I am not able to scroll up or down unless and until I touch the screen. I went and checked the settings as well but no luck, but I did notice that when ever I open something on the right corner EN box appears and I think that is the thing which is not allowing the scroll to move. Please help me out as I dont want to give it for repair.
The top left lock button, unlocks in my pocket, what's the point in that?Is there any way it can be turned off, remapped, or at the very least have a warning that the phone is locked when pressed instead of completely unlocking the phone, like it does with the keypad?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI can't stand how the bold 9700 has a screen lock button on top of it- on my old curve i set the side convenience button as the screen lock and to unlock the screen i had to hit two keys (since i didn't set a PW)... now all i have to do his hit the top button-- i've pocket dialed a bunch of people now just by accidentally pressing this button- is there any way to disable this top screen lock button?

Not sure if It was dropped and something happened but I remember being able to tap the top of the phone with ease, just like the mute button on the right side, now there is a very noticeable difference.Anybody having this issue? I hate to sound like that guy who is super anal about his phone, I swear I'm not that guy, but this is just bothering me.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a BB Bold 9700 and after I did a software upgrade ( to v5.0.0.743) my lock feature will not work. Previously, If i were to click the lock button at the top left, the phone would lock and would display my user information which I created. The top right button (mute key) would thus put the phone into standby mode. Now, when I click the top left (lock) button, the phone goes into standby, and when I click the top right (mute) button, nothing happens. I loved having my user information displayed when the phone was not in use. Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can get around it? I tried turning on the password (which I do not like using) and turning it off again as well as doing a battery pull.

When I press the button again to unlock, nothing happens it's as if the button is not working. When I press the green 'Make Call' button I get the following message: 'Keypad is locked. Press the Lock button to unlock'. When I press the lock button (top left), nothing happens. The only way out of this is to take the battery out and re-boot.
This is getting quite annoying, as I now do not want to lock the phone.

I consequently have to take out my battery and restart the phone to get the keypad unlocked. Not sure if the actual button is faulty or not but is there any way to switch the unlocking feature to a different button?

View 7 Replies View RelatedToday I was trying to lock my phone having installed the new OS (5.0.0.593) and when I press my functioning lock button (i.e. not physically broken) it puts the phone in standby, not locking it. I have a password and if I lock my phone that screen usually comes up. Whats the point if it doesn't lock? I've pressed the standby key and that doesn't lock it either. In a moment of desperation i assigned the left convenience key as a lock button, but I would love to have it at the top as normal.

T mobile told me that they could not repair the old one and therefore it was replaced with a new one - the keyboard and lock button has now stopped working on this some of the time meaning it can't be used as I cannot unlock it. Despite the fact that it was only brand new in January as the contract is over 2 years now they say there is no warranty on it but speak to Blackberry can't find any other way of doing this?
