BB Torch :: Screen Is Black, Keypad Remains Light Up?
Aug 9, 2012My touch screen will not light up. However, I can see the keypad lighting up as well as the flashing light. What should I do? Is there any way to fix it? This started a few days ago....but then it appeared to fix itself. But now, the screen will not turn back on.

Aug 21, 2010The new message icon remains on the home screen even after the messages have been read. It also remains on the Message folder.I was told to remove the battery when the phone is "On" and re-insert it. The icon does disappear only to return when new messages arrive. Is there a permanent solution for this problem? This must be a software problem but no new software updates are available from RIM

Jul 19, 2012My screen keeps scrolling down automatically when a bright light hits the screen. Make it hard to use outside. Trying to make a phone call, read text, email, or even just scrolling through apps is very difficult because the screen scrolls down to the very bottom very quickly. When I scoll back up, it scrolls right back to the bottom. When I'm not outside or a bright glare is not on the screen it works great.

Dec 12, 2011My phone is fully charged and even though you get the shudder when you turn it on/off the screen remains black. I do however have a little green blinking light in the top right hand side which usually means I have a message or whatever. So, I'm thinking most of the phone is working but the screen is not. Any suggestions? This happened suddenly when I was on Facebook (don't know if that makes any difference). Recently the phone has been turning itself off and restarting for no apparent reason ... could this have been a lead up to the black screen?

A little sound indicated that the phone was fully charge after two hours, the screen was indicating that the battery was fully charged. Removed the plug from the outlet, to my suprise...the screen remained lit up, still indicating that the battery was full. I waited for several minutes, it was still the same. So i turned it on. Then i turned it off again, put it on charge again and the poblem was the same!

Oct 25, 2011When charging my phone (xperia x10 mini), the screen remains off while charging, but when battery is 100% charged the screen turns on, and it remains on until you disconnect the phone from the charger, like telling you "I'm already charged".
Now I can't charge my phone overnight, or I have to put something covering it, so the light doesn't bother me while sleeping.
And of course, I think the screen light will eventually break if it's switched on so many hours every day. Have you noted this or it's an issue with only my phone?

If I ask to view the call history of a specific contact the activity is registered only until two weeks ago. Contacts with recent activity only have the call history empty. Also in the contacts' recent activity (at the bottom of the contact details) I find only messages ecc. but no recent call history, only calls of more than 2 weeks ago are in there.

Jan 20, 2010So I bought my AT&T Bold 9700 last month when it first came out, and have had no troubles with it so far. I've tried searching for a thread like this but haven't found any.My 9700 just randomly "rebooted" this morning, where the screen goes black and the red led light turns on for a couple of seconds. This has happened to me before on my old 9000, where after it would then start up again. Nearing the time when I replaced it, it would do it quite frequently (and to think it just started getting really bad AFTER the 1 year warranty on it expired!). So back to the 9700, the progress bar that comes up when you're starting up the device would then come up, and sometimes load for about half an inch, sometimes only up to an eighth, before the whole thing would start again - the screen would turn black, the red led turns on, and the progress bar would come up again.I pulling the battery out for a few minutes and putting it back in but its still doing it. I then pulled it out for about an hour and its still doing it again.

Jan 6, 2010I recently upgraded to a bold through Orange (UK Network Provider), phone has been great so far, I have had it for a week. However, I made a call and came back to my phone to find a blank screen and the red light flashing/staying constant intermittently. The phone does not turn on, I have tried taking battery out, sim out, memory card out, attaching it to my computer (which it does not recognize as it needs to be on) charging it etc. I have tried that alt, cap and del reset mechanism too.
Orange told me I will have to send it off this week, but does anyone know any quick fix to turn it on? I have all my contacts on there, stupidly I did not back it up.

Sep 12, 2011Unfortunately my BB9900 past away. Black screen, Red light flashy and all the same symptoms in previous other posts. I have tried:
- Batt pull
- Chargin with Power cable and/or USB cable and pull the batt in / out
- Installing software
- Resetting with BBSAK and JL CMDer
All without any result. Only thing is: When I pull the battery and connect it with my PC, after 30s/60s I see a battery (with a red cross) in the screen. I have tried now to install the software trough "c:program filescommon files esearch in motionapploaderloader.exe" /nojvm but no luck. Is it possible to connect with other software? Where can we download software to Flash the Rom and are their any ROMS available? My guess is a software failure in the ROM.

Jan 10, 2010I've just bought a 5230 and I'm really annoyed that I don't have the functionality my E51 had where if it was really dark the screen would dim down. This is an important thing to me since I tend to read at night and I dislike having to go all the way to settings and so on.
Do you know any piece of software that could change screen brightness based on the light sensor readings?I'm just amazed the phone software doesn't do that on its own but hey s60v5 is worse than s60v3...

Apr 7, 2012had it in my pocket whislt I was walking round, and when I sat down at a restaurant and looked at it, and it was almost like the phone had just died, but the screen didn't light up and the LED didn't flash. I charged it up fully the night before and i know that when the battery is flat it flashes yellow, but it was doing nothing.When I got home i tried charging it, but nothing and then I plugged it into my laptop to try a retrive all of my stuff on there but again nothing!
