I have a Blackberry Bold 9000 and the profile is changing by itself from Normal to Vibrate and back again and then back to Vibrate and so on. I find this really annoying and don't know how to stop it
View 3 RepliesWhenever I change the sound profile, my custom alert tones for eBay and UberTwitter apps change to silent and to different sounds than those I chose.
I already tried a RIM support solution that calls for clearing a corrupted profiles database. It helped for a few days. Now the issue is back, and today it even made all my LED alerts turn to off.
A friend of mine is having the same issue. We both use the Bold with TMO's stock OS.
The Pearl had a button for changing the profile to quiet/vibrate without unlocking the keyboard, but I cannot find such a button on the 8900?

On my 9700 the default sound profile overrides the custom profile. From everything I've read so far it's supposed to be the opposite correct? What am I missing or not understanding?

I have tried wiping all data and only restoring contacts and that doesn't seem to work. For instance, after a full security wipe, my Normal Profile will have my Emails silent, SMS normal, and BBM new messages as silent.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently set my phone to the "loud" profle and it seems to have the same setting as the normal profile which I originally customized. Is there a particular reason for that? I was under the impression that each profile could be customized individually.
Normal settings changed to something or other - guessing Default? Nothing done here on my end other than a couple app installs and then uninstalls. All the alert tones and default ringtone went to something other than what they were.

I have my phone always on the LOUD profile and its fine one second but the next i will not hear any texts, emails, facebooks, calls, alarms, ect. it will just vibrate and only vibrate. i literally have to pull the battery out to reboot the system to get it back to normal.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have just upgraded to the new blackberry 9900. I backed up my old device and transferred across all my contacts.
All contacts appear in BBM, but none of them have there display pictures showing. have checked with contacts via sms and they do not see my current profile picture either, even though I have one to display.
All data works and can BBM contacts with no issue. All data files have been updated by vodafone as well. I have tried a re install and also a battery pull.
I find the profile icon difficult to read and I like to ensure it is on silent but cannot do so easily. My Curve had a larger icon and said silent when you hovered over it.

A color coding system would be ideal, where messages from one email would be a different color or something.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm having an issue with custom alerts that are set with some people and the active profile setting. here's what's going on...i have custom ringers on a few family members and since some of the ringers are low in volume, i set the volume individually. today i had to go to a memorial service and i decided to make sure my phone was on silent so i don't have my phone going on in the middle of the service. i set my profile to silent, called myself using my dad's phone and what do i hear, his ringer! i did a battery pull...same thing. i tried to call myself using my dad's phone again, but this time using *67 and no ringtone, just showed that i had a call coming through. with no time on my hands before heading out the door, i just turned off my phone.
Now i found an alternative, but not quite a solution...i can have custom ringtones for people, but not change the volume and whatever profile is set will happen. is there a better way? did i receive a faulty device, although i think it's more a software issue.
I have a 9700 that I got back in December, and I have a problem.Just today, my 9700 started exhibiting a strange problem whereby it will not produce ANY sound at all for not only incoming calls, texts, e-mails, etc. but also it won't play any sound if a play an mp3.I've done numerous OS reloads, tried different versions of OS, but nothing.
What I have found, though, is that if I push in on the screen slightly, it will produce sound. Why is this? Has anyone experienced a similar issue?
I used a new phone number and a new blackberry apps world id, but with the same blackberry 9900. Aparently, I could not log into the phone, and so the phone is locked with an unknown id and password. So, the only thing the phone could do is to format all the bbm contacts etc, while I really need all the contacts.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had Blackberries for several years on T-Mobile, and I was always able to set up my mail accounts as either IMAP or POP3. I've switched to Verizon and when I set up my email accounts, they default to IMAP. I own my own domain and both IMAP and POP3 are supported.
I tried deleting my email accounts and setting them up again with an incorrect password so I could enter my own settings. However, I'm not given the option to select POP or IMAP. I prefer POP so that if I delete a message on my handlheld it will also be deleted from the server.
Profile pics pop up from facebook friends in my address book when they call on my pearl 8120 but not my bold 9700. What am I doing wrong?
View 5 Replies View RelatedFrom looking through similar threads, I see that it is a problem changing any shortcuts. My particular problem is hitting the spacebar and the phone comes up and, as I have already done several times, hit it a few more times and you will accidentally dial a number in your address book. When I have my phone in my pocket and I don't have keylock on, I have called several numbers.
Luckily, I realized what I had done before the phone was left on for a long time and they could listen to whatever I was saying. I could see where this could become a MAJOR problem! One of the threads mentioned a 3rd party app (without saying what it was) that could change the shortcut. Does anyone know what that is? Better yet, does anyone know how you CAN change the shortcut? I'd rather not have to put the key lock on every time I put the phone in my pocket.
I have the Bold 9930. Before I left the States, my phone was working perfectly fine...I had email, BBM, whatsapp, text, etc...
When I arrived in Haiti, I wanted to switch my SIM card so I would be able to use/have a Haitian number. I do NOT have an international plan. When the guy put my the Haitian SIM in, the phone requested my BlackBerry ID and password. I typed both in, which were both correct, but it kept telling me that it was an incorrect password. The guy told me that the only way I would be able to "reset" my BlackBerry ID would be to sign out and in order to do that, it would wipe out all my pics and everything. I didn't want to do that so I ended up buying a Haitian phone w/ a Haitian SIM card.
At this point, I have two phones. One American with an American SIM card (BlackBerry) and a Haitian phone with a Haitian SIM card.
When I arrived at my house, I turned on my American phone and its WiFi, but my BBM and Emails were NOT WORKING! However, my Facebook App and the Browser are both working perfectly fine. I restarted my phone many times since yesterday and nothing has changed. I checked this morning to see if it was working, but no luck.
So my question(s)/problem(s) now are:
1. How do I get my BBM working again? (probably the most important one)
2. How do I get my emails working again?
3. Is there any possible way for me to have my BlackBerry(American phone) work with my Haitian SIM Card?
I thought I would ask first rather than just doing it. For back up purposes I want to change the file name of my back ups. Any problem with that as long as I know what they are. I am not going to change the destination folder.
