BB Bold :: How To Quickly Access Bluetooth
Jun 29, 2011
Is there an easier way to do this? I already have my Bluetooth set to automatically connect once my blackberry turns on. However, if I take the blackberry away from the Bluetooth and return to it, I have to go through this entire process if I want to switch to my blackberry during a call.

We are looking for a way to have a shortcut on the homepage to turn the Bluetooth on and off. With the handsfree systems in a vehicle that is left running the phone stays connected.

Battery life, with no phone use at all, and no apps at all, is about 7 hours. System Busy clock frequently prevents use, and screen occasionally goes black and is unresponsive for a couple of minutes. Battery has been replaced, but that did not improve anything.
At this point, despite many years with BlackBerry, I am seriously considering going Apple.

In the past few weeks, my battery started dying really quickly. Before it would last at least a couple of days even with browsing and using apps. Then it started dying after less than 10 hrs, and even dying while it was more than half full. I went to the Orange shop and they said because I'd left the battery charging overnight, it was now leaking and I needed a new one, which I promptly bought. However, I still have the same problem. I need to charge my phone everyday, and even though I turn it off at night, it still lasts some 10 hrs. I've done the software upgrade and it made no difference at all. I've heard of apps running in the background and draining the battery, but I always had apps and never had this problem before and I can't believe that you can't have apps or else your battery won't last more than half a day!

It's a real pain to scroll to the bottom of long License Agreements when installing apps. Is there a quicker way to do this short of running your finger down the trackpad over and over and over again?

I bought my bold 9900 from UAE and used it for few months there and I suddenly had to move to Sri Lanka. The phone was very fast and the clock thing never appeared. Then i changed my sim to Dialog when I landed in Sri Lanka. The phone suddenly started to heat and the battery drained in minutes and freezes. The clock thing appears every minute and the phone battery drains even when I don't use it.

I got my 9700 about a month ago and the battery life has so far been excellent. About a week ago the 3G/GPRS signal dropped in the flat where I live and ever since then the battery drains really quickly when I'm at home. I can't seem to find a logical answer to the problem. The only thing I'm thinking it could be the Googlemail app constantly trying to get a feed. I don't run any other apps (no weather programs etc). My partner seems to also be having the same problem although she doesn't run any apps.

I have a Bold 9000 & one month ago I have plugged it in to a car charger (not BB original one). In that moment the phone turned off instantly and when trying to turn it back on the LCD remained completely white. I could not make or receive calls, e-mail, etc., the phone was dead whit the LCD white.
when I got home I plugged in the AC charger & the phone started ok. Now if I charge it fully I can use it for one day, or half day if it is very intense used. If the battery goes bellow 75-80% & I access basic functions (e-mail, sms, browsing) in 1-2 mins the LCD goes white & the phone is dead. Basically I need to keep the battery level higher than 80% in order to make sure I can use my phone.

I recently purchased a new Bold 9700 and I noticed that the battery drains very quickly. It only lasts about 4 hours if the Mobile Network, WiFi and Blue Tooth are enabled. Also, I have recently installed the latest software updates. Is it normal for the battery to drain this quickly while the phone is on stand by mode?

I have an iPhone 4S, running iOS 5.1.1. (Though this issue has existed since 4.3) I enable Personal Hotspot on the iPhone. Bluetooth and Wifi are turned on.
My iPad 2 (running iOS 5.1.1) sees the iPhone in the list of available Bluetooth devices, connects to the iPhone, and voila! The iPad is tethering my iPhone's internet connection. When the two disconnect from one another (like when I leave the house). I simply pick up the iPad when I return, go to Settings>General>Bluetooth and tap my iPhone in the list of available devices, and (as long as my iPhone is within range) the iPad connects, and I'm online again. Painless! The problem arises when I try to connect my iPod touch or spare iPhone 4 to the Personal Hotspot of my iPhone 4S via bluetooth. I enable Personal Hotspot on the iPhone 4S. Bluetooth and Wifi are turned on.
I pick up my iPod touch. Bluetooth is enabled, but the iPhone 4S does not appear in the list of available Bluetooth devices. I pick up my spare iPhone 4. Bluetooth is enabled, but the iPhone 4S does not appear in the list of available Bluetooth devices. The problem is, if I want this iPod touch or spare iPhone (acting as an oversized iPod touch) to access my Personal Hotspot, I have to unlock my iPhone 4S, go to Settings>Personal Hotspot and wait for the iDevices to connect; something I don't have to do with my iPad. Additionally, Personal Hotspot connections made over Wifi use far more power on both devices than Bluetooth.
The weird thing is, there was a week or two (before updating to iOS 5.0) that my iPod touch was able to see my iPhone 4, connect to it via Bluetooth, and tether off the Personal Hotspot painlessly without me ever having to unlock the iPhone, and open Settings. To be thorough, I tried using my iPhone 4 (and even an old iPhone 3GS running 4.3) as the 'host' devices for my Personal Hotspot, and every time the iPad had no issues connecting, but all the other iPhones saw no available Bluetooth devices.

I have had a Nokia N95 for a couple of years now and sometime ago I found it more convenient to connect this to PC Suite using Bluetooth which gave me more scope to move the phone around to get a stronger signal as I use it's modem for my PC internet connection.
Following good practice I have always configured my PC's to have an Admin account and a limited user account for everyday use. Since using the bluetooth connection I find that as soon as I log out of the limited user account in order to log in as the administrator to install or update some software, I find I can no longer connect to the internet. It seems as though PC Suite cannot access the modem even though PC Suite appears to have connected to the phone ok. The only way I have found to solve the issue is to unpair and re-pair the phone which results in the Connection Manager reinstalling the bluetooth modem, which appears to reset / refresh things. Of course as soon as I log out of the admin user and return to the limited user I have to repeat the unpair /pair process again. I have been through several Nokia PC Suite updates which have completed without reporting any errors and have done fresh install when reinstalling XP but this has always been a persistant problem.I wonder if this scenario ever featured in any testing before PC Suite was released but it should be straight forward enough for anyone to replicate this issue using bluetooth.
I had hoped that when the new Ovi Suite option popped up within PC Suite that this update would have fixed this but unfortunately no such luck.
Windows XP SP3 and latest patches to date.

Have you been able to synchronize address book with your car bluetooth system via rSAP? Volvo V50 built-in bluetooth works otherwise, but does not synchronize address book. Remote SIM access is enabled from E7 bluetooth settings. It is very annoying to see just the number for incoming phone calls, nor can you browse address book and make phone calls with car's built-in system.

When I connect my bluetooth headset and try a google command such as "navigate to Staples, Hudson NY" I get a message via the headset stating that I have limited network access and can only use the calling feature. However If I am connected via my wifi it performs that command without any problem as well as any other such a text so and so.
If I turn the headset off and turn off the wifi connection and speak the navigate command directly to the phone it will do so without any problem.
I am at a loss as to why the google commands only work if I'm connected to my wifi while using my headset?

My phone is a Bold 9900, software v7.1.0.342, platform 5.1.0.276.Carrier is Vodafone Portugal.
Long story short, device worked perfectly in Portugal over the last few months. After a business trip to Colombia, where I had to temporarily switch SIM cards, device lost ability to connect to BIS via wifi (with my original, portuguese, SIM back on). After a bit of research online, I followed a suggestion to wipe the phone completely and restore from backup, as it would somehow force my device/SIM to register back with Blackberry services. While still in Colombia, this worked.
Back in Portugal, however, using my 3G connection, Blackberry Internet Service does not connect, so I had no access to email or BBM. It connected using Wi-Fi, though. An attempt to backup, wipe and restore resulted in something curious. Now, not even via Wi-Fi can I establish a connection to BIS.
I tried to follow suggestions to re-register the host routing table (did so, device displayed "Registration message sent!", nothing else) and deleting and adding service books (I wasn't able to do so as now, whenever I try to access my email setup, it only allows me to configure enterprise email accounts and not any other type).
