BB Bold :: 9780 Screen Turned White - Functions Working Fine
Nov 1, 2011I have a Bold 9780, my screen turned white suddenly. Phone was kept on the table and it automatically turned white. The other functions are working fine as in incoming calls and messages, but the whole screen is white.

For the past couple of days, I've been unable to use my BB's Browser or GPS functions. Whenever I try to connect to the BB Browser, I get a timeout error. None of my bookmarks are able to connect either. I've tried switching between the different settings in browser configuration settings (BIS, hotspot, wifi, IE, Firefox, etc) to no avail. I also have a wifi set up at home and even though it was working flawlessly a couple of days ago, it will no longer connect to any wifi. In addition, the GPS function is not working on any of the apps that use GPS (Both BB and Google maps, weatherbug, poynt).
Here's the kicker: Everything else is working great. I'm getting all of my emails from all of the emails I have configured with the device (my work email through the BES, forwarded from a comcast address, and from my *@vzw.blackberry.net address) and all of my apps seem to be working fine. I've got facebook, ubertwitter, ebay, weatherbug, poynt, and a couple of others and they're all able to update wirelessly.
I've tried going through a new enterprise activation, I've updated everything through the desktop manager, and I've re-registered the device on the network. I'm iffy on whether I've actually pushed all of the service books to the device again because I can't login here: https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=vzw. Whenever I try to, it tells me I have use my device's BIS. Well, that's my problem. I can't use my device's BIS. Also, I have one WiFi host routing table and about a hundred Verizon host routing tables. I'm not sure which ones I should delete, as I've read, in order to get it download a new one.
The only thing I've really noted that appears to be a problem is that when I go to Options -> Status, the device's IP Address is 0.0.0.0. I'm not sure if that is supposed to be like that or not. I know from regular internet usage on a desktop, if you don't have an ip address on the network, you can't get on the internet. Does that ring true for the BB as well?

Jul 8, 2010Just got a new 9650. Noticed that the right button to get to an application was not working. Sometimes worked but 90% of the time nothing.Spoke to provider and they sent another brand new phone. Same story. I did try other application associated with button still no responses.Really do not use that button a lot.Any one else having this problem? Any solutions? Not sure it worth the aggravation of return.

However I enabled wifi where I am staying so I may still be able to use the blackberry applications such as bbm, facebook, weather network, blackberry app world etc.Everything has been working fine for the first two days but has then recently stopped. I can still browse the web, but my bbm msgs are not going through nor am i receiving any, fb alerts have stopped coming in and so on.

Jan 15, 2010I just recently bought a CA-100 usb charger for my Nokia N95 from ebay. When I use this usb charger on my pc it works perfectly fine, but when I use it on my laptop it doesn't work. When I use it on my laptop it says "charging" for about 2-3 seconds, and then I get the message "not charging". Now I tried looking this up and found out that Nokia chargers usually have a current of 800 mA meanwhile usb's are usually 500 mA. Is there a way to raise the usb current to 800 mA? Also why is it working on my pc and not my laptop. My laptop is newer than my pc and it definitely isn't a hardware problem or anything wrong with my laptop. Possibly there's a setting I must change? It worked on my friends toshiba laptop as well. My pc and laptop are both Compaq.

May 11, 2012When making or receiving voice calls via my network operator's service, no one can hear me, i.e my audio input. I can hear the person on the other end of the phone fine but they can't hear me whatsoever. However when I use the likes of viber, skype and facetime, my audio input is perfectly fine and the person on the other end of can hear me. Note both viber and skype calls work just fine and 2 way communication is audible regardless if I have a 3G or Wifi connection. Plus I have full signal bar strength when near a mobile tower so that eliminates antenna issues. Also have taken alternative turns to cover both the top mic and the bottom mic during a viber or skype call and my audio input can still be heard. I've done a reset, a hard reset of the phone and a reset of the network settings, still to no avail. Have updated iOS to the latest version 5.1.1.

Jul 30, 2012having an issue where notification sounds stop working after my photon has been on for 12 to 18 hours. The phone will still vibrate and function fine except for ringing or letting me know about alert/alarms. I am on the latest firmware 45.4.13 but this issue has been ongoing for the past 3 firmware upgrades I have done. I have done factore resets multiple times and ran nothing but stock apps for a full month but it contnues to happen. Honestly it does not bother me to remember to reboot by phone each night but i have missed two VERY important calls because I was in another room and did not hear it ring.

Mar 20, 2010i just purchased a replacement bb bold 9000 off ebay (it's an unlocked at&t handset that i bought after my bb bold got stolen... total bummer) and it was working fine all week up until last night when it stopped being able to handle incoming and outgoing calls and texts. The internet and email functions still work which is very peculiar. also some further info, when i put my sim card into another handset (in this case a nokia e65) all my normal call functions work and when i put another sim card in the bold the same thing happens (when i try to make a call it instantly pops up with a call failed warning). another thing is the bold shows full service coverage... currently the bold about shows... v4.6.0.304 (Platform 4.0.0.247) im on australia and for some reason i cant update the os to v5
