Just got a Bold for the wife and can't figure out how to assign a static IP address for my home Wifi.I was able to do it with my Style but I just can't remember how. Google search didn't turn up anything but I know it has to be possible

My main question is this: Can somebody make a custom OS with the old OS files which allows you to lock the keyboard with the left-side convenience key? Or can we swap them ourselves? View 1 Replies View RelatedAs I'm slowly setting up my phone I've finally gotten around to ringtones. I'm having trouble assigning a specific ringtone to a specific contact. It appears that if the contact has a picture the option to change the ringtone is greyed out. All contacts without a picture I can change just fine.
Since I like to know who is calling without pulling the phone out of my pocket...this is really starting to bother me.
I've recently upgraded to the Lumia 900 and have downloaded some sound clips which I would like to assign to various features like new mail, text message etc. However, it seems that I can only assign the downloads to contacts and not any other feature. Can I only utilise the sounds installed on the phone or am I missing something really simple?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have had X6 for about a week now, previous phone was 5530 Illuvial. Now I am having a problem setting songs as ring tones, my previous phone was easy select song goto options, set as ring tone done. Now unless I am being thick I just cant seem to do this new X6 as east as that as far as I can tell you have to go via settings...Personal...Profiles...Options... Personalize.. Ringing Tone. Then yo have to scroll the WHOLE SONG LIST.
Also I have downloaded songs via Nokia and I can't seem to use those as a set ring tone(when I eventally find them!!!) says thay are locked. Somebody help me it is driving me up the flippin wall.
Is it possible to assign a shortcut key to my VZW Blackberry Tour for a non phone number?
In other words, I would like to assign the P key to turn bluetooth off/on as an example. I see where the Q key turns vibrate on/off, unsure as to how to program other keys.

I have many rigtones that i have made on my MC, I aslo understand the process of highlighting a contact in the address book & pushing the app button & selecting add custome ring tone. The problem is it gives me two options, (Device Memory & Preloaded Ring Tones) it doesn't allow me the option of searching the media card witch is where the rigtones that i want are stored. If I select edit contact, the option to assign ring tone is not there. Can anyone help?? (PS) I have searched the forums with no luck.

I then proceeded to sync my phone and especially clicked on the tab that says ringtones to include that and clicked on apply. When I look on my phone and go into my ipod I can see the ringtones that I purchased under my playlists but how do I get them from my playlist to use them to assign them as ringtones to my contacts?

I have just gone from Sony Ericsson C902 to Sony Ericsson Xperia X8. On the C902 I was able to assign different ringtones to different contacts, but on the Xperia X8 I don't seem to be able to do this.

So far I really love this phone, but I seem to have stumbled across somewhat of a glitch that I can't figure out yet. This "smartphone" doesn't seem to allow me what a simple BASIC phone always did....and that is to allow me to assign a different ringtone to specific contacts. I do see that it is an option however it won't save the change on some contacts, but it does on others. I select the contact I want to update, I tap the menu option, then select "Options." I open the Ringtone dropdown, select a new ringtone, tap OK....but when I get out to that previous screen - it once again shows the ringtone as default. I don't understand this. Why will it let me save on some, but not others? I compared one contact that didn't save....to another that did save. They both have the same type of info - a mobile number, an email address, a home address, a facebook link, and a birthday listed. One saved - the other did not.

View 12 Replies View RelatedAfter reading the posts here about assigning a different texting app rather than using VZWs stock texting app, I decided to try it. I disabled the stock app, which DID remove it from the lock screen. It left a blank space. When I dragged down toward it, it opened the camera app instead.
I noticed in Manage Apps> App Info that there is a selection called Launch by Default/No defaults set, and a button marked Clear Defaults. This section is grayed out in every single app in manage apps; how to enable it? I'd like to disable VZW text messaging, and enable Google Talk in its place.
Secondly - after the ICS update, I now have multiple references to the same apps in Manage Apps>All Apps. There are three separate references for Backup Assistant Plus, and two for Google Maps. Looking at App Info, some are the old versions (pre ICS) and some are the new ones (post ICS). Is there a way to delete the old references and clean things up a tad?

I'm trying to setup my Lollipop G3 to use a static ip address on my home network in order to more easily be able to run e.g. an ftp server on it.
My router is a Netgear CG3700. First, I tried its "address reservation" feature, where one can associate a MAC-adress(the phone's) to an ip address on the local network. It was easy to setup, but when the G3 is asking for an ip address, it still gets the first free one in the DHCP range rather than the one I just configured.
I also tried from the phone, by long-pressing the wifi connection and choosing "modify network".
In the window that appears, one can switch from DHCP to static and specify the desired ip address. However, as long as "ip settings" is set to Static, the Save-button is disabled. Someone suggested that entering the wifi password here might work, but Save is still disabled.
I used to set up static ip in my previous device L925 in the wifi section when it was running win 10 technical preview. But I am unable to see that feature in my L950. Do i need to install insider preview in my L950 to get static ip. Phone is currently running 10586.29.

They seemed to have been pulsating (as if someone was holding another electromagnetic object close to it or something) and it looked like static distortion. I am having some problems with the Xperia Z2 bluetooth speaker pairing.I have successfully connected it to my bluetooth handsfree device in my car.Ive also tested it on one speaker. But when I try to connect it to Philips Fidelio E5 I only get static noise.Can it be the APTX? Is there a way to turn that off?The Philips Fidelio works perfect with many other devices. (tested 3 different devices successfully) Including Xperia Z tablet.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy BB curve has recently started making a very loud static sound every 5 minutes (when not in use). I have removed all podcast apps and followed other advice on various posts and it has not made a difference. I think I have the most recent OS (6) not sure when it updated and perhaps that is the problem. Also this is not an audible thing meaning adjusting the volume and putting the phone on mute makes no difference. My carrier is Verizon. Really sounds like someone is trying to connect via old school sprint direct connect, every five minutes.
