I'm sorry to be such a novice, but I got a Droid 2 tonight and have never had a smartphone before. I have my own ringtones under my music widget, but when I go into a contact to assign a ringtone, my only choices are the stock ones. Can someone tell me how to use the choices under my music instead?
View 1 RepliesSo far I really love this phone, but I seem to have stumbled across somewhat of a glitch that I can't figure out yet. This "smartphone" doesn't seem to allow me what a simple BASIC phone always did....and that is to allow me to assign a different ringtone to specific contacts. I do see that it is an option however it won't save the change on some contacts, but it does on others. I select the contact I want to update, I tap the menu option, then select "Options." I open the Ringtone dropdown, select a new ringtone, tap OK....but when I get out to that previous screen - it once again shows the ringtone as default. I don't understand this. Why will it let me save on some, but not others? I compared one contact that didn't save....to another that did save. They both have the same type of info - a mobile number, an email address, a home address, a facebook link, and a birthday listed. One saved - the other did not.

I know how to change the ringtones for individual contacts. My problem is some of them will not change from default. I am not trying to do anything drastic, and I have not rooted my phone. I am using the ringtones provided built into the phone.
I do not know how long this has been an issue. I just tried last night to change one contact's ringtone and it would not move from default. I went through my phone randomly picking contacts that were all listed as default. Some would change, others would not.
As I'm slowly setting up my phone I've finally gotten around to ringtones. I'm having trouble assigning a specific ringtone to a specific contact. It appears that if the contact has a picture the option to change the ringtone is greyed out. All contacts without a picture I can change just fine.
Since I like to know who is calling without pulling the phone out of my pocket...this is really starting to bother me.
I am a new iPhone user and purchased some ringtones on iTunes. This then showed under Purchased items. I then proceeded to sync my phone and especially clicked on the tab that says ringtones to include that and clicked on apply. When I look on my phone and go into my ipod I can see the ringtones that I purchased under my playlists but how do I get them from my playlist to use them to assign them as ringtones to my contacts?

View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter the latest update to Android 5.1 the individual ringtones for contacts doesn't work anymore if the mp3 file is in the sdcard.
If the mp3 file is in the internal memory it works correctly. This behaviour was not present with previous versions of android.
I assigned individual ringtones to my contacts in contact list but when they call, the default ringtone is ringing.Does anyone know how to fix it? I guess this situation accured after I erased everything on my iPhone and installed backup from my computer. I searched everywhere on internet but couldn't find anything, and then this idea came up; I deleted all the assigned rigntones, created a new backup on my computer then deleted all contacts and installed the backup but still when I assign a ringtone to a specific contact it's still ringing default ringtone when she calls.. Btw I also checked for duplication errors, there is only one for each contact..

Can I get personalized tones for emails on my Droid3? I know you can have ringtones for your contacts when they call you but how about when they email? I had them on my Blackberry but don't seem to find it on the Droid 3.

For all the others I have tried thus far, I select the ringtone that I want, hit OK and it goes back to the default ringtone. This is strictly the Phone Contact list. I am not using any social networking apps at this time. I do use the Verizon Backup Assistant for my contacts, but that has never been an issue on any of my previous phones. This is the same contact list that was restored from my old phone to this one and the contacts have not changed.

View 12 Replies View RelatedAfter reading the posts here about assigning a different texting app rather than using VZWs stock texting app, I decided to try it. I disabled the stock app, which DID remove it from the lock screen. It left a blank space. When I dragged down toward it, it opened the camera app instead.
I noticed in Manage Apps> App Info that there is a selection called Launch by Default/No defaults set, and a button marked Clear Defaults. This section is grayed out in every single app in manage apps; how to enable it? I'd like to disable VZW text messaging, and enable Google Talk in its place.
Secondly - after the ICS update, I now have multiple references to the same apps in Manage Apps>All Apps. There are three separate references for Backup Assistant Plus, and two for Google Maps. Looking at App Info, some are the old versions (pre ICS) and some are the new ones (post ICS). Is there a way to delete the old references and clean things up a tad?

I recently got my new Motorola Razr HD (XT925) running JB ver 4.1.2 but can't for the life of me work out how to set music stored on my device as individual ring tones for different contacts.
This option just doesn't seem to exist on this phone model but i was running the XT915 and could choose individual music as ring tones from the set ring tone options.
I would like to start off by saying that I DO like my Cliq.I noticed problems with my News Widget.It would stop updating.I tried taking the battery out, etc.After some searching, I realized I wasn't running the most updated software.So, after some challenges with the update, I finally got my phone updated.That was followed by a total reset. Not happy about that, but seemed the only way to go in order to work out some kinks with the upgrade.So now I am trying to reset all of my personalizations. Now this is where my most recent problems are.How do I set ringtones for my contacts? Each way I have tried only lets me choose from the defaults or factory installed tones.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy Razr got upgraded to ICS this morning. Now I have no ringer. Yes silent mode is off and volume is turned all the way up. If I go to 'system setting', 'sound' and try to change the 'phone ringtone' or 'default notification', the get the message "Activity Android System is not responding". I was able to turn on "Vibrate and ring", so at least I'm getting vibation, but no ringtone.

I'm trying to set up my alarms with the ringtones I used to use - and I have everything in folders on my SD card as shown below. However, the alarm doesn't seem to want to use these folders. If I select music I get a list of the 5,000 songs that I have in Google music which is of no use since that's in the cloud and I need alarm to function at all times.how to change the location for the alarm ringtones?

It seems that on past Droids, one could click-and-hold on an MP3 (found in memory) and elect to make it a ring tone -- even an alarm or notification. This seems to be missing on the current phone.
View 7 Replies View RelatedThis problem involves my stock ringtones, more than one though. I get a call and say Big Easy is the tone. It will play for 1 sec, then restart and play the whole tune. Same with Digital Phone sound...rings 1 time, but does not continue ringing. All sounds are on the internal card. I have tried safe recovery mode and still same thing.have also wiped cache of phone at recovery and of the apps. If I keep the tone on a full length selection, no problem, its just that the restarting of the full length and the single ring of the shorter single tones are disconcerting.
