Motorola :: Assigning Ringtones To Individual Contacts On Droid 2

Aug 27, 2010

I'm sorry to be such a novice, but I got a Droid 2 tonight and have never had a smartphone before. I have my own ringtones under my music widget, but when I go into a contact to assign a ringtone, my only choices are the stock ones. Can someone tell me how to use the choices under my music instead?

Motorola Droid X :: Can't Set Individual Contact's Ringtones

Feb 2, 2012

Droid X updated with System Version 4.5.605 Android Version 2.3.3

I know how to change the ringtones for individual contacts. My problem is some of them will not change from default. I am not trying to do anything drastic, and I have not rooted my phone. I am using the ringtones provided built into the phone.

I do not know how long this has been an issue. I just tried last night to change one contact's ringtone and it would not move from default. I went through my phone randomly picking contacts that were all listed as default. Some would change, others would not.

Motorola Droid Bionic :: Setting Ringtones In Alarm?

Oct 27, 2012

I just got ICS and due to extensive problems I did a factory reset. I'm trying to set up my alarms with the ringtones I used to use - and I have everything in folders on my SD card as shown below. However, the alarm doesn't seem to want to use these folders. If I select music I get a list of the 5,000 songs that I have in Google music which is of no use since that's in the cloud and I need alarm to function at all to change the location for the alarm ringtones?

ringtones - /media/audio/ringtones
alarms - /media/audio/alarms
notifications - /media/audio/notifications

IPhone :: Assigned Individual Ringtones To My Contacts But Default Ringtone Keeps Ringing?

Jun 17, 2012

I assigned individual ringtones to my contacts in contact list but when they call, the default ringtone is ringing.Does anyone know how to fix it? I guess this situation accured after I erased everything on my iPhone and installed backup from my computer. I searched everywhere on internet but couldn't find anything, and then this idea came up; I deleted all the assigned rigntones, created a new backup on my computer then deleted all contacts and installed the backup but still when I assign a ringtone to a specific contact it's still ringing default ringtone when she calls.. Btw I also checked for duplication errors, there is only one for each contact..

Motorola Droid 2 :: Linking Contacts In Gingerbread

Sep 28, 2011

Say I have a contact that is a family member and they are on Facebook. How would I link that info with other info such as their phone number so that their profile pic from facebook comes up when I receive a call from them or even a text from them? I had the pics like that show up on my last Droid 2 (before I lost it and received a refurb replacement).

Motorola Droid Razr :: Saving Ringtones For Specific Contacts?

Dec 4, 2011

So far I have been able to assign a ringtone to only 1 contact. For all the others I have tried thus far, I select the ringtone that I want, hit OK and it goes back to the default ringtone. This is strictly the Phone Contact list. I am not using any social networking apps at this time. I do use the Verizon Backup Assistant for my contacts, but that has never been an issue on any of my previous phones. This is the same contact list that was restored from my old phone to this one and the contacts have not changed.

Motorola Droid Razr :: Assigning Ringtones To Specific Contacts?

Nov 28, 2011

So far I really love this phone, but I seem to have stumbled across somewhat of a glitch that I can't figure out yet. This "smartphone" doesn't seem to allow me what a simple BASIC phone always did....and that is to allow me to assign a different ringtone to specific contacts. I do see that it is an option however it won't save the change on some contacts, but it does on others. I select the contact I want to update, I tap the menu option, then select "Options." I open the Ringtone dropdown, select a new ringtone, tap OK....but when I get out to that previous screen - it once again shows the ringtone as default. I don't understand this. Why will it let me save on some, but not others? I compared one contact that didn't another that did save. They both have the same type of info - a mobile number, an email address, a home address, a facebook link, and a birthday listed. One saved - the other did not.

Those that saw my thread about a problem with SMS messages will know I've done a full factory reset to my phone.

In Froyo, before the standard contacts facility was used, there was an ability to "link" duplicate contacts together to merge their details. Is that still possible in the Gingerbread world, and if so, how do you do it?

Motorola Droid X :: Pairing Car Bluetooth With New Gingerbread

Sep 6, 2011

My car's bluetooth (2011 Honda Odyssey) was working perfectly with my Droid X (which had "FroYo" 2.2 software). Due to problems with my phone, Verizon had me update to the newest software (2.3, called "Gingerbread"). I now cannot pair the Droid with the car. I have called Verizon and Motorola both, who both stated that the most likely culprit was the car. Honda states that it is compatible with "Gingerbread" on newer phones, but not certain if it is on the original Droid, and Motorola has not sent a sample for Honda to test for the original Droid. What do I do? Is there a fix available here? Should I ask Verizon or Motorola to put the previous version, 2.2 or "FroYo" back on my phone?

On my old DX1 GB seemed to fix this issue but now on the DX2 with GB I haven't noticed any improvemnt. Does anyone else run exchange though DX2 and what is your experience, im running SBS 2003 and all other phones on our system ie. windows phones, blackberry and some other phones all seem to work great usually the e-mail shows up in the phone about 30 seconds before the outlook inbox.

Motorola Droid 2 :: Manual Download Gingerbread?

Sep 21, 2011

I have been waiting for this update for some time now, and I am sure there are plenty of other people that have been. I personally love my droid 2, but I am something of a IT guru, and have worked out all the bugs for myself and my friends... took me 3 SBF's to do it as I broke a feature or 2 my phone a few times in the process until I fully grasped exactly what kind of structure that android runs on... You should really consider allowing the tech junkies to download it with a big warning that things are still in process of being fixed. I am sure that anyone that goes digging this far for the update will understand the risks, and be glad to help give debugging and q/a support to the team. Android is an open source based system, and as such the community that uses it is on the whole a tad more savvy than that of other systems. Just open up a thread where we can all come and check in with issues, and workarounds and sticky it so everyone can find it easily.
