Motorola Droid Razr :: Using Own Music As Ringtones?
Dec 1, 2011
How can I get my songs from my computer to my phone razr.? I set up motocast and see my songs but only when I am logged on to the internet. Is there a way to use them as my ringtones?
I'm using the DROID RAZR HD. The factory installed alarm tones aren't useful to me and there's not that many to choose from. So I downloaded some loud tones thinking they would be put on the list of alarm tones. None of them did... So my question is..Is there a special way to do this? Or is it just not possible action?
My Razr got upgraded to ICS this morning. Now I have no ringer. Yes silent mode is off and volume is turned all the way up. If I go to 'system setting', 'sound' and try to change the 'phone ringtone' or 'default notification', the get the message "Activity Android System is not responding". I was able to turn on "Vibrate and ring", so at least I'm getting vibation, but no ringtone.
Each time my phone powers off, reboots, or I plug into my PC and it unmounts the SD card (ext) the phone seems to forget all of the ringtone settings and reverts back to stock (default) settings. I have over 20 custom ringtones for friends, SMS, calendar, alarms, etc., each and every time I have to reset these..Would trasnfering the ringtones to the internal memory
It seems that on past Droids, one could click-and-hold on an MP3 (found in memory) and elect to make it a ring tone -- even an alarm or notification. This seems to be missing on the current phone.
This problem involves my stock ringtones, more than one though. I get a call and say Big Easy is the tone. It will play for 1 sec, then restart and play the whole tune. Same with Digital Phone sound...rings 1 time, but does not continue ringing. All sounds are on the internal card. I have tried safe recovery mode and still same thing.have also wiped cache of phone at recovery and of the apps. If I keep the tone on a full length selection, no problem, its just that the restarting of the full length and the single ring of the shorter single tones are disconcerting.
So far I have been able to assign a ringtone to only 1 contact. For all the others I have tried thus far, I select the ringtone that I want, hit OK and it goes back to the default ringtone. This is strictly the Phone Contact list. I am not using any social networking apps at this time. I do use the Verizon Backup Assistant for my contacts, but that has never been an issue on any of my previous phones. This is the same contact list that was restored from my old phone to this one and the contacts have not changed.
So far I really love this phone, but I seem to have stumbled across somewhat of a glitch that I can't figure out yet. This "smartphone" doesn't seem to allow me what a simple BASIC phone always did....and that is to allow me to assign a different ringtone to specific contacts. I do see that it is an option however it won't save the change on some contacts, but it does on others. I select the contact I want to update, I tap the menu option, then select "Options." I open the Ringtone dropdown, select a new ringtone, tap OK....but when I get out to that previous screen - it once again shows the ringtone as default. I don't understand this. Why will it let me save on some, but not others? I compared one contact that didn't save....to another that did save. They both have the same type of info - a mobile number, an email address, a home address, a facebook link, and a birthday listed. One saved - the other did not.
Motorola's My Music app is having issues finding my music. If I view the albums for an artist, they all appear, but if I play that artist, some of them can't be found. Sometimes I try again, and these albums play. Once I even noticed that all of the albums appeared but songs were missing, and then when I looked at the album list again, the ones that weren't playing weren't listed. Then they appear again. The most troubling part is that these songs are in the same folder on my sd card.
I have Jelly Bean, Google Music Play and all my CD's stored up in Google Music through my PC. Somehow, I have downloaded two albums to my phone, at least Music Play in the phone says they are on the device, the phone.Where are they? And how can I see them, or delete them? How can I assure they go on the SD card and I'm not filling up the remaining native storage in the phone?I've used My Computer to browse the files in the phone storage and on the SD, I can't find the albums.
When streaming music to my aftermarket Alpine car stereo via bluetooth I constantly get 1/2 second drops in sound. It is intermittant but happens with almost every song, sometimes 1 or 2 times per song, sometimes up to 5 or 6 times, and some songs it doesn't happen at all. It does it while streaming through Napster or through downloaded music on the stock player, so that doesn't seem to be the issue. At first I thought it could be a loss of 3g or 4g signal or the Razr searching for the signal but it has happened in both 3g and 4g coverage area. So today I thought I would check it while stopped in a parking lot, and it continued to happen, I'm still in a 3g area til Dec. but thought the phone could be searching for a signal causing the drop of sound so I disconnected from bluetooth and the problem goes away, so I'm pretty convinced it is a bluetooth issue, I did not have this problem with my DX, so I do not believe it's an issue with my car stereo'e bluetooth adapter. I do not have any issues with phone calls but do have an issue with connecting to my bluetooth unit sometimes. In the settings it says paired but not connected until I click on the setting then it connects. Also, this does not happen while listening at home through the speakers or headphones whether I'm streaming or downloading via 3g or wifi.
I used the app last night and tried out the Internet Radio function...nice function.Powered off my phone and put it on the charger for the night. This morning when I turned on the phone the music app started on its own. I only discovered the problem after my battery went from 100% charge to like 88% charge in like an hour. When I checked to see what the heck was causing the battery drain I discovered the music app was the culprit. I force closed the app and powered off the phone. Waited a couple of minutes and powered the phone on. And yes, the music app once again was started on power up and I had to force close again.
ever since ics, i can no longer stream from the watchespn app. Internet works fine but watchespn will not get past the load screen after i select the program i want to watch. it worked fine before ics.
also, while listening to mp3's on the my droid razr, ther is a 5-10 second stuttering fit at the beginning of every song. i have tried to use different players. i've tried the mymusic app, then rocket music player, and then mayven but each gives me the same results. this also occurs while using google play. but, it has never done it while listening to pandora or tunein. when i called motorola the technician suggested that i reboot the device. obviously that didn't work and unfortunately that was the only solution he had for me.
I am stumped by this one. When I listen to music in the standard music player that comes with the phone (My Music), it creates a notification with the song that I am listening too (thumbs up). However, I am unable to clear this notification even when I stop listening to music and exit out of the program (thumbs down).
I have been noticed that when I'm listening to music with headphones I get random skips. I'm playing the music using play music and I know the audio files do not have the skips normally. I've noticed it when the screen is off. Originally I thought it might be notifications coming through but when I check my phone there's nothing.BTW I'm running jellybean
So I can stream music from my iTunes account onto my phone through Motocast, and can download one song at a time onto my phone. The problem is I have a massive amount of songs and really don't want to download all of them one at a time. Does anyone know a way that I can download my entore library all at once?
I have a small issue. I was getting the lyrcis on the screen when I first got the Razr, but all of a sudden they have stopped showing. I did a search and found the same issue on the Atrix but no one had a response.
I have lots of music "in" my Amazon cloud. When I decide to down load a track or album, the default download is to the internal memory and not to my SD card. Is there a way to change the download defaut location?
Also, does anyone have an opinion as where is the best place for cloud storage for music. Although I like to buy from Amazon, I am not too impressed with their cloud. I cannot edit file names for instance.
Similar to a previous question, one day after purchasing the Razr I played a song with the included My Music player via MotoCast and enjoyed the lyrics display. Immediatly after playing the song I played it again and could not get the lyrics to reappear. No setting changes on the Razr, tried everything suggested in the forums including other songs, pressing on the song window, etc. Live music information setting shows green check mark next to "Song Lyrics."
Weird glitch I noticed in the first 2-3 days post ICS. Everything seems to be normal with the phone, except for the fact that when I plug it into a charger, this will automatically trigger the device to start playing the same song. The song plays all the way through once and then ends, after which everything is normal again. While the song is playing, I can't determine which program is responsible for playing the music so that I can stop it. There is no app or icon that pops up to indicate that music is being played, it's just as if the music is being conjured out of thin air. If I try playing a track on either Google Music or My Music during this time, the second track will start playing at the same time as the first, almost as if the software doesn't recognize that another song is already playing.
Again, this only occurs when I plug the phone into a charger. Happens consistently whether it's a wall charger, usb or car charger. I've been searcing like crazy through Settings and Smart Actions to see what's causing it, but have come up empty so far. Tried rebooting a few times (both hard and soft reset), clearing out the cache....everything except a factory reset which I'd prefer to avoid if at all possible. Has anyone else experienced this issue? I've been scrolling through various message boards but haven't seen any examples of this yet.
Every since the jellybean update I've had nothing but problems. The device is always running slow, it is not smooth like butter there is a lag. And when I'm listening to music its cuts in and out as if it were a scratched cd. I've tried doing a factory restore and it didn't help. That's what Verizon suggested and it didn't work. Also Verizon's fix to everything is to send out a certified refurbished phone and I don't want that. I bought my phone brand new and I know nothings happened to my phone I don't want to a phone I know nothing about. Also I've noticed that not one of all the call recording apps work on the droid razr hd.
I can see the mp3 and flac files when I connect my RAZR to my laptop, but the device itself can't see/play the music. Not sure what is going on here. why I can't access the music on my SD card that was fine on my Droid4? Seems odd that my music folder is empty (when I browse to it using files/astro.)
