Motorola RAZR I Home :: Play Music Cannot Save To SD Card
Jan 1, 2013For some reason my text didn't save when I first posted this, so I'll try again:
My issue is that Google Play Music seems to save all cached music to the internal memory of the phone, and not the external SD card. Android can see this external SD card fine, and in fact saves any photos to it, so there is an issue with Google Play Music's visitbility of the SD card.
with my HTC Desire S, Google Play Music cached to the external SD card no problem.

Sep 18, 2012I can see the mp3 and flac files when I connect my RAZR to my laptop, but the device itself can't see/play the music. Not sure what is going on here. why I can't access the music on my SD card that was fine on my Droid4? Seems odd that my music folder is empty (when I browse to it using files/astro.)

May 25, 2012I have a problem with the "My Music" app and music homescreen widget.
I can find and play music tracks but as soon as I hit the "home" key the music pauses. Basically, any time I exit the player, the music stops.. So I can listen to music OR do anything else.. annoying? yes!
If I press the "home" key or exit any other way - The widget on the home screen reverts to "Go to music dashboard" and if I press to un-pause the music, I am taken back to the "My Music" homescreen and have to re-select a song.
fix / workaround / another music player (one with Motocast capability?). Can i re-install "my music" or reset something?
- I am running motocast, but this problem occurs on Motocast and downloaded music. - i have tried turnignoff motocast computers. - This does not happen with podcasts or any other media - just music in my library.

This option just doesn't seem to exist on this phone model but i was running the XT915 and could choose individual music as ring tones from the set ring tone options.
Motorola Xoom :: Cannot Play Music Which Is On Sd Card
Jun 3, 2012I have a problem with the sd card on my Xoom wifi with Android 4.0.4. I have my music collection on an sd card which is loaded in my Xoom. Initially the music plays fine in the Google Play Music App, but after using the tablet for a day or two the music will no longer play. I get a message that the music cannot be played. This message then appears when attempting to play any music on the sd card.
I can temporarily fix the problem by erasing the Media Storage and Google Play Music data or resetting the tablet as suggested by gmanapps, but the problem repeats itself. I also tried syncing/not syncing with Google Music, disabling the Google Play Music app and using an alternate player, and formatting the sd card.
In general I have been happy with my Xoom, but this issue really concerns me. Does this point to a larger problem of stability in the Android file structure?

If I go to 'system setting', 'sound' and try to change the 'phone ringtone' or 'default notification', the get the message "Activity Android System is not responding". I was able to turn on "Vibrate and ring", so at least I'm getting vibation, but no ringtone.

Oct 8, 2012This problem involves my stock ringtones, more than one though. I get a call and say Big Easy is the tone. It will play for 1 sec, then restart and play the whole tune. Same with Digital Phone sound...rings 1 time, but does not continue ringing. All sounds are on the internal card. I have tried safe recovery mode and still same thing.have also wiped cache of phone at recovery and of the apps. If I keep the tone on a full length selection, no problem, its just that the restarting of the full length and the single ring of the shorter single tones are disconcerting.

Jul 31, 2012Running on xt910 stock 2.3.5 (73.30) in eastern EU.
I noticed that after connecting my phone to my computer and choosing USB Mass storage mode my custom ringtones (/media/ dir. on the internal SD card) associations to contacts and global ringtones/notifications settings are lost. This may be caused because android unmounts the SD card from itself when connecting it to the computer (to avoid cross-locking scenarios).
The problem is, that custom ringtones & notifications aren't restored after the SD card (internal) is remounted, USB mode set to charge only/USB removed.
I think it is a general Androis OS problem - the question is, anybody else noticed this or is this known & corrected in 4.0.4?

For all the others I have tried thus far, I select the ringtone that I want, hit OK and it goes back to the default ringtone. This is strictly the Phone Contact list. I am not using any social networking apps at this time. I do use the Verizon Backup Assistant for my contacts, but that has never been an issue on any of my previous phones. This is the same contact list that was restored from my old phone to this one and the contacts have not changed.

Nov 28, 2011So far I really love this phone, but I seem to have stumbled across somewhat of a glitch that I can't figure out yet. This "smartphone" doesn't seem to allow me what a simple BASIC phone always did....and that is to allow me to assign a different ringtone to specific contacts. I do see that it is an option however it won't save the change on some contacts, but it does on others. I select the contact I want to update, I tap the menu option, then select "Options." I open the Ringtone dropdown, select a new ringtone, tap OK....but when I get out to that previous screen - it once again shows the ringtone as default. I don't understand this. Why will it let me save on some, but not others? I compared one contact that didn't save....to another that did save. They both have the same type of info - a mobile number, an email address, a home address, a facebook link, and a birthday listed. One saved - the other did not.
