I have always wondered on my Blackberry Bold 9700 under Options-SMS Text and go down to Network To Send Over and it gives me 4 options:
Circuit Switched
Circuit Switched Preferred
Packet Switched Preferred
Packet Switched
My Network is Circuit Switched Preferred, but i would like to know if anyone knows what these mean and which is the best for SMS Texts to be sent over using which one?
I am trying to use vivaz pro as a dial in modem. The is few functions which do not work. I have contacted support of the software I am using and they told me : "This can be done but only though having circuit switched data activated on your phone." is the is a option in Vivaz to do that ?

The effect of this is that the phone remains linked to the car until the car system eventually shuts down.If I receive a call to my mobile during this period, the phone rings but I am not able to hear anything through the phone earpiece. How can I disconnect from the car bluetooth in order to receive any incoming calls that coincide with the above period. This has caused some embarassment on a number of occasions.

BUT If I leave the BB 9700 connected overnight to the computers USB Port for charging, and, obviously, after a few hours the computer will go to sleep, thus turning off the power to the USB port In the morning I find that the BB is: Off and will not turn on, unless it is power reset. In other words I have to open up the back and pull the battery for a second then after It is put back in the red light will display nevertheless it will turn on and be fine once it boots back up. There are no other indications or problems. I notice that other people have similar complaints with their BB's.

And for my sim card, i have the blackberry email plan so i should be able to receive emails.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have only had it a month and everything was fine until a few days ago.I think im going to go mental on this phone becasue its really annoying me.Quite often when attempting to make a phone call the message 'no circuit/channel available' will come up and i cannot make or receive phone-calls.After looking at various other threads i found that this is usually a problem with people on the vodafone network (which i am not on) and is something to do with 3G. Now, having read other threads, turning 3G off and using only 2G solves the problem, but then, what is the point of having 3G if you cannot use it, right? I also dont have the problem in my house as i use wi-fi to connect to my wireless router and boost the signal.

I go online at the sprint.blackberry.com site to add my emails - it won't let me add this one - if I put in the info as an established email - it asks me for the server name. I talked to tech support a good 40 minutes with no help what so ever! I even looked into it like they may have canceled my email - but when I enter it as a new one it says it's taken. So anyone know how I can add my existing blackberry email account to this new phone/network?

I keep being charged for sending MMS that apparently are too large (just text no pictures or videos), so I've been advised by the telephone company to turn MMS off.
