BB Bold 9700 :: Ringtone Stops When Out Of Holster?
May 9, 2010If my phone is in its holster when it rings, when I pull it out of the holster it silences the ringtone. Is there any way to stop it from doing this?

Dec 17, 2011I have the ring tone on 9900 set to always so it should keep ringing in and out of the holster but when I take it out of the holster the ringtone stops. My 9300 did exactly the same thing. I've changed it 'out of holster' ringtone which works as does in holster but when set to ring always it stops out of the holster.

May 10, 2010I recently downloaded the new update for my Blackberry Tour, and I have noticed that my phone is not remembering its settings (im assuming). When I have my phone holstered, it only vibrates twice and does not ring (though I have it set to Always for the ringtone) for my MMS/SMS messages. When its out of holster, it will only do the default text messing sound. I am not sure how to fix this though I have rebooted it twice in attempts for the settings.

Apr 1, 2010When in holster and I receive a call, my 9700 will only ring once, even if the caller is still on the line. I am using the Normal profile, and the phone setting for Normal is set to Play sound = Always. I also checked the set ringtone alerts, and the Play sound = Always as well.I am running OS 5.0.0.545. is this a bug?

Apr 25, 2010My wife and i have had blackberrys for 4yrs but the two new 9700 are driving me mad !! Whilst in the holster they only ring once so missing loads of calls and when you pull the device from the holster it is not locked and the settings are telling me it should be. Checked all settings and they are correct. Running V5.0.0.586 (PLATFORM 5.1.0.146).

Jun 28, 2010Just upgraded from bold 9000 to 9700. I upgraded my OS to version .743. After that, I stopped getting visual voice mail notifications. The message is there when I dial "1", but doesn't show up at all under the VVM menu, nor do I get the visual indication(s). It did work on the AT&T OS out of the box. Second issue with this O.S.- phone does not lock when it is in the holster. I have to believe both these issues are with the .743 version of the OS, but I may be missing something. I've read others with the VVM problem, not none of the threads seem to offer a solution except to say that AT&T WAS having issues with this back in November.

Apr 22, 2010I am sure that this issue has been raised before but it is the one aspect of the BB9700 that is driving me to distraction. What profile settings should i use just to get the darn thing to ring for 20 secs - both in and out of its holster? (I have tried the code to extend the time to 30 secs but it does not seem to work with Orange UK).
I just want the phone to ring like a phone without LEDS, vibration etc. At the moment, I need the hearing of a 5 year old and the strength of a 20 year old to get to my phone before it trips over to answerphone.I am on OS593 and I have tried battery pulls etc. I am also using a ringtune rather than Classic Ring.

Jun 14, 2010So the 'Normal' profile of my 9700 (Phone) is set up to play ALWAYS simply because it is on my desk in the office, it is not in the holster, and I want to hear when it rings.
I also have a ring tone that I downloaded (not the default).I noticed that when the phone is in the holster and it rings, as soon as I take it out from the holster the ring tonne changes from the one I set up to the default AT&T ring tone.
BB Bold 9700 :: Boots To 60% Then Stops?
Mar 8, 2010The other day my BB without me knowing it, rebooted and when i looked at the screen it loads up to about 60 % and then "freezes" ive tried pulling the battery, sim card. charging it on my mac laptopit will sit there for hours on end so waiting it out doesnt work. Is there anything that i can do to get my phone working again?

Mar 5, 2010I'm not sure whether this is a 9700 problem or a problem with Orange (UK) but it seems that every time I restart my BlackBerry, be it a battery pull or a restart from removing an app, my phone loses the ability to connect to UMA ("ISP or wireless network error"). The first time this happened I rang Orange and got them to reset my service and this seemed to do the trick since shortly after my UMA connected again.After installing and then removing App World and restarting my BlackBerry, it's gone again. Obviously I can't ring Orange support at all hours of the day and every time this happens.
Has anyone else had this problem? I'm totally stumped on this one..My Bold is running OS 5.0.0.351 (The latest version on Orange)I've tried numerous battery pulls, resetting the router, wiped my handset, re-sent service books, all the usual stuff.The wifi icon is white and NOT greyed out. All other wifi features are working except UMA.
BB Bold 9700 :: LED Stops Blinking With Numerous Notifications.
Aug 30, 2010Sometimes when I have a new email, sms, and BBM, the LED will shut off or stop blinking after a certain amount of time. I was just curious to see if this was a glitch with my phone, or it was a bold 9700 thing. Or it was just something normal?

BB Bold 9700 :: ATT Dropped Calls And Data Stops Working
Feb 5, 2010So i've been using att for about two months now since switching from Verizon. Everything was fine at first but recently i would say within the past month i've been dropping calls and having problems with the data services. I'll be streaming slacker radio and all of a sudden it stops and i have to reboot to get it working again. The dropped calls thing is pretty much random. Im running 5.0.0.405.
Anyone else having this problem? I mean the whole surfing while talking thing is nice but if this keeps up im going to have to just bite the bullet pay the early term fee and switch back!
BB Bold 9700 :: DM Stops Communicating No Send / Receive Arrows?
Apr 29, 20109700 (got it in november, right after launch) i am running .442 OS (crappy, need to update it) and my PC is on windows 7 ultimate 32 bit. for a while now, when i connect my BB via USB, the PC recognizes it, and i can modify the files on my SD card as much as i want, for as long as i want.BUT if i try to do anythign with DM (backup, load new OS, etc.) it will communicate for a few seconds (generally less than 30) and then stop. the DM still says it is trying to communicate, and my BB shows that it is connected to the DM, but with no send/receive arrows. after a WHILE, it times out.charges fine via USB, SD card works fine via USB. as far as i can see, all of the pins are there.i have tried a few different computers with the same result. this an OS bug? what should i do? i can probly get it to communicate enough for a bare-bones backup of contacts/etc., and then wipe/reload, but im afraid that if i try that, it may hang up yet again and leave me w/o a phone!any ideas? i REALLY need to get rid of this crap OS w/ crap battery life, that keeps giving me 523 errors.

Apr 28, 2010Brand new devices.I have a problem with auto complete text. Once I transfer language from eng to other language with the keyboard shortcut (alt+enter ) the auto text stops working. Furthermore, the option box just disappears from the menu (options - text and languages ) !. Reset by battery removal fixes the problem.But, onces you repeat the above action the auto text complete disappears again...Some bug is there.... tried it with all 5 devices of my office.I contacted my provider- they were not aware of the problem and I demonstrated it to them. Jul 19, 2010I have a 9700 that I got back in December, and I have a problem.Just today, my 9700 started exhibiting a strange problem whereby it will not produce ANY sound at all for not only incoming calls, texts, e-mails, etc. but also it won't play any sound if a play an mp3.I've done numerous OS reloads, tried different versions of OS, but nothing.
What I have found, though, is that if I push in on the screen slightly, it will produce sound. Why is this? Has anyone experienced a similar issue?

Apr 6, 2011I recently switched from a Bold 9000 to a new Torch 9800 with the new OS 6.0. On my Bold I could set one ringtone for In Holster @ one volume and a different ringtone @ a different volume for Out Of Holster within the same profile. So far this seems impossible with the new operating system. Seems I can only set one ringtone and one vibrate for each profile. Am I missing something?
