I purchased a new 8900 on ebay and received it today. I want to change the ringtone. When I try out more than 1 ringtone from the list it stops ringing. I have to pull the battery before it will ring again. The phone has version 5 software.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Electrify automatically stops ringing. It is set to always vibrate, however it is supposed to ring as well. I will restart my phone and it will ring normally, I put it down on the table for a little bit and it starts vibrating only. I have checked the settings and all of the volume (ringer, media and notfications) are all on the loudest settings. I have tried changing the vibrate settings to all of the different options but if it is set to never vibrate the volume still does not work and I will never know if I have a call or message. The problem occurs with all of the notfication tones. I use the prestored tones for everything except a 3 of my contacts have their own ringtone.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a blackberry curve 8900 which I love but which I think may have broken my spirit this time.When I go into my contacts to search for a contact it just goes on to 'Add contact' - when I type the contact name into the 'find contact' option it then decides to add a new one instead.It will let me search my SIM card contacts but, not being the cleverest of people, my contacts aren't all on my SIM.If I go through the Search icon on my desktop and search through contacts it will let me find them through there but I don't understand why my contacts bit has changed, and how to reverse this?
The contacts are there when I go to SMS someone but if I am trying to send a message through MMS (ie a picture) then the same contact search problem occurs.I am not the most technologically-minded of people but I really love this phone and I don't know what I have done wrong!!
Any one know how you unlock the speed dial list? A few of the letters are locked like A for lock, W for voicemail etc. Would be great if I could change them but not sure how?

The phone will not use this ringtone , so I went to Settings / General /Personalisation / Tones / ringing tone and if I make this tone same as Profiles then all my calls go to Voicemail. View 6 Replies View RelatedI assigned individual ringtones to my contacts in contact list but when they call, the default ringtone is ringing.Does anyone know how to fix it? I guess this situation accured after I erased everything on my iPhone and installed backup from my computer. I searched everywhere on internet but couldn't find anything, and then this idea came up; I deleted all the assigned rigntones, created a new backup on my computer then deleted all contacts and installed the backup but still when I assign a ringtone to a specific contact it's still ringing default ringtone when she calls.. Btw I also checked for duplication errors, there is only one for each contact..

My 9300 did exactly the same thing. I've changed it 'out of holster' ringtone which works as does in holster but when set to ring always it stops out of the holster.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis does not happen every time, but it does happen at least once a day.On incoming calls, my ring tone will not play, instead I hear the person on the other end of the phone waiting for me to answer!! They can not hear me though, but I can hear them either saying hey pick up the phone, coughing, drinking water, what ever you do on the phone before the person answers.
So Verizon has never heard of this before and I can't force a duplication of it when people are watching of course.Anyone heard of this and know what to do? I was hoping upgrading to 5.0 OS would fix and I am looking for that now.
If my phone is in its holster when it rings, when I pull it out of the holster it silences the ringtone. Is there any way to stop it from doing this?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have the X6. The phone rings and I unlock the keyguard using the slider on the side of the phone and the phone stops ringing. Then in order to answer the phone I press the green button on the bottom left of the phone or I press answer call on the screen and then I can speak which I suppose sounds fair enough. But I just think that something is wrong because surely the phone should continue to make the 'ringing' noise until I actually answer the call rather than going mute just because I have unlocked the keyguard.. Am I doing something wrong or is this just how the phone works?

What profile settings should i use just to get the darn thing to ring for 20 secs - both in and out of its holster? (I have tried the code to extend the time to 30 secs but it does not seem to work with Orange UK).

I had an 8310 and just bought an 8900 brand new off of eBay. I used the 8310's speakerphone A LOT for listening to music and loved it! I always took the back of the phone off too so that it wasn't coming through 2 little holes through the top. Is the sound quality and volume of the 8900 equal to or greater than the 8300 with its batter door off?

View 5 Replies View Relatedhi. had 8900 for few months on orange uk with data plan. have been using email, internet and windows live and blackberry messenger all fine using either wi fi or mobile now all of a sudden its stop working and i cant use none. when i try to connect to internet i get a msg say this is a wi fi service please ensure your device has a wi fi connection , bb messenger wont send mgs or receive windows live jus says this service is not enabled for this handheld. ive contacted orange but they havnt helped they did say it could be a update of facebook causing problem?. have tried removing battery and restoring removed service books etc nothings fixed. can anyone help plz?

However whenever I check for updates via the blackberry site the desktop manger pops up and does not offer this upgrade. All it says it 4.6.1 (current) and the rest are downgrades, so I'm not quite sure what I need to do to get the new OS to even appear, much less download it and work.

I have a 5800 that I have been troubleshooting for the past Month. We have been to the provider who has now replaced the phone twice in the past two months. Calling out appears to be fine. However when customizing the phone I am unable to set picture and a ringtone to a contact in the contact list. The Contact is saved on the phone. When the person dials in the picture will display correctly but the ringtone will play a default ring not a custom file as selected. This has heppened on all 3 of the phones. I am down to the OS of the phone which the provider says is up to date.
