BB Bold 9700 :: No Email Setup Without BIS Or BES?
Jun 20, 2010
Im in South Africa, got a 9700 from Nashuamobile, using the MTN network. My contract is only beginning from 01 July.I want to setup my current email adress on the phone like it is currrently on my N95.However it seems it will not be possible without the Blackberry service been activated?
So if this is the case, then my question is that the will it be impossible to have my email working on it without the BIS or BES service? How can this be possible? I thought I have the option of taking the BIS service or not?I suppose its the same in all countries , nevermind the ISp or Carrier?
I'm trying to set up my personal email on the 9700, but it seems that i have only one option, Blackberry Enterprise Server option. Is that suppose to be that way? I don't seem to have the " I want to create or add an email address" option.
Im using a Bold 9700, v5.0.0.442(Platforms 5.1.0.121) Carrier: M1(Singapore)
i just got my bold and when i try to set up my account it says connecting to email settings then says the app has encountered an error and cannot continue.. I have a att unlocked, please help!
My phone only shows one option: setup a work email account? Why? Has anyone experience this? Actually I bought this phone used, now I'm scare I got ripped off.
i just purchased a bold 9700 and i was trying to configure my personal email accounts. however, under settings -> setup wizard-> email setup, i only have the option to use "i want to use a work email account with a blackberry enterprise server", and nothing else. i viewed setting up personal email Internet video and from the user menu, there seems to be a possibility to select "personal email" setup where gmail and hotmail can be configured.
Every time I try to set up an email address, it does not give me the two options (i.e I want to create or add an email address or I want to use a work email account with a BlackBerry Enterprise Server). Instead, it only gives me the "Work" email option. This means I cannot setup Instant Messaging or anything.
I just got my BB9700 yesterday. I wanted to set up my email account and encountered the following problem:There is no option to "I want to create an email account" in the set-up wizard. In the email setup wizard, I only have the option to "I want to use a work email account with a BB Enterprise Server", and it does not work for my email accounts.
When using the Setup Wizard, and selecting Email Setup, I am only faced with the one option of using aan account on the Blackberry Enterprise Server. How do I set up an Internet Email account ( POP or IMAP) that is not BES?All google searches I have tried indicate that I should be faced with altermatve options.
I bought an unlocked Blackberry Bold 9700 (original carrier is rogers) through Ebay to use it with my pay as you go Fido plan. My main reason to buy this phone was to be able to browse the internet and check my email in wireless hotspots ( I am a student so wireless internet is openly available at the university). However, under email setup the only option available to me is the Blackberry Enterprise server, I apparently should have a 'personal email setup' but it is not available. I did a lot of research on the internet and this forum but could not find a solution to my problem. I would be very grateful if someone can provide me with some answers. I also contacted the person whom I bought the phone from and apparently he does not have the answers either. Tried calling Fido and they did not offer any support as the phone one was not bought from them.
Last week I bought a Bold 9700. I put in my SIM card and set up our 4 email accounts. All working fine. My husband has just gone aborad on business so has put his SIM card in it and is having problem downloading emails. I have bought another Bold 9700 for me so that we have one each now. Can I set up the device for the same 4 email accounts, so that we both have access to the accounts from our own device.
Also does he need to go through blackberry registration with his sim card so that he can access emails. As the device he is now using was originally set up with my sim inserted. He is abroad at the moment and is frantic that he may not be able to access his emails!! He is a bit of a technophobe, but from using the Bold 9700 with my sim card in he had no problem and found it very easy. Where have we gone wrong....
When I go into setup on my Bold 9700 mand I click on Email Account I get through to "select the type of email account" and when I try to select "Internet Mail Account" it kicks me back to the Setup menu.
Recently I had to change my gmail password and now I am not able to receive email on my device. I am using the bold 9700 and upgraded to OS 6. When I go into setup manager and I click on email nothing happens. Is there any way I can either delete the old inbox that was on my phone and resetup a new email box, or change my password on the device so that I can get my email working again.
ive had my BB BOLD 9700 since 2 years and never had the need to link my office email to it till now so i tried to follow the setup
1- click setup 2- click setup email 3- click other 4- type my office email id and password
and its says success and i receive an email saying account activated and i will recieve emails in 20 mins BUT i can only SEND emails i CANNOTE RECIEVE any emails on my bold. when i check the settings its IMAP while my company server is on POP and on a different port.
if i try to edit my account i cannot change the IMAP to POP3.
I am trying to configure bold 9700 to receive my work emails. server info: Service: Exchange 2003 Protocols: https (443) Authentication : Certificate & Network logon Currently using owa to access email using this url: https://intranet.company.com. It will require certificate to access the main page of OWA. Once authenticate then use network logon to access mailbox.

I am trying to set up my email using POP. the problem is in "login information" my username suppose to be "abc@blabla.com" but it only appear as "abc" thus my blackberry is unable to sign in to the email that i want to set up; and i cannot edit this area because it is set automatically by my device. Before i used Curve 8310 with v4.5 i can sucessfully create similar account becuase the login appear to be "xyz@blabla.com" instead of just "xyz" in username space. I hope you can undestand my problem,
I upgraded my Bold 9700 to OS 6 and cannot configure my email addresses. My email addresses are listed and I have the option to verify the passwords but every time I enter the correct password I get a message that says "Sorry, unable to continue your session. Please log in again." The only options I have when dealing with my email addresses is to verify the password. I cannot add an account and I cannot delete an account. There is no option to edit. Essentially there are no options at all except to verify passwords. When I open the menu I get switch application, help and close. Nothing else.
When i try to set up my email it only gives me the enterprise setup? i want to register 2 hotmail email adresses but i only have wifi access i do not have BB unlimited internet.
I just bought my bold 9700 today and I can't seem to figure this problem out. I used the Setup Wizard to setup my Yahoo! email account, and at the end it said it had been successful and that an icon had been added to my Home Screen. However, I CAN'T FIND THIS ICON ANYWHERE.
I can only see my email messages in the unified Messages folder (along with BBM messages, facebook messages, ,etc., it's a mess), but I can't seem to have a folder ONLY for my Yahoo! email account. Please help me out, I've been at this for hours and have asked other friends for help but no one can figure this out.
On June 10, I received a notification that there was a new update available to the Internet e-mail setup application. I can't access my em-mail settings without downloading the update. I downloaded the update, and, after rebooting, there was an error message saying the software couldn't be found! There was nothing on my phone besides a white screen with a long list of software file names. I couldn't go past this screen, make phone calls, text, or even power down without pulling the battery out! BB Tech Support was able to help me reinstall the operating system and restore evertyhing through the desktop software (sadly my last sync was 4 months ago so I lost all of my apps). To this day, it still prompts me to download the update when I try to access the E-mail Setup application. I don't remember what version the update was on June 10 but the version showing is 6.11.0419.0755. I need to access this application but I'm terrified to download the update.
I acquired in Hong Kong the BB Bold 9700. I was told it is not a locked phone, and that I should be able to use it where I live. Indeed, as a phone, it is not locked, and I can do all phone functionality. However the following functions are not available and I wonder how to fix it: When I try to set email accounts, it only lets me the option to set enterprise server based email accounts; it does not let me the option to set Internet based personal accounts as appear in the manual I am also unable to use the device over WIFI networks; I can register them, connect and set them, but the actual browsing over the connection is not possible.
i can not find the setup wizard or setup for that matter. the folder that should have setup reads "extras" and inside reads calculator and currency converter.
I need some help setting up my Blackberry Bold 9000. I bought it off of Ebay and I have already wiped with memory. I need help setting up my email account and all of that stuff. When i try to set up a personal email address the only option I get is for setting up a Work email. This is what it says "I want to use a work email account with a BLackberry Enterprise Server"
i am new to blackberry and purchased a 9700 bold online. i can not set it up. att cant help me either can anyone tell me or direct me to where i can find out how to set it up for att internet services?
I am trying to setup my gmail account on my BB 9700 Bold, but keep getting the message that the gmail account or password is incorrect and won't give me any other options.I updated the phone to OS6 and it still won't accept the gmail account. Also received the "Enhanced Google Mail plug-in for Blackberry smartphones" - but that also stops at the same place.I have another webmail account [URL] that I've always used previously (and it works), but want to change from that email account (which is very spammed out) to my gmail account. Must I delete that account first before adding my gmail account? I haven't done so in case I lose that account and not be able to reinstate it.
i used to have email's set up on my bb 9700, ive been using a different bb for 2 weeks to which i registered my email accounts to, now im back to using this one it no longer lets me register the accounts!Ive gone into the service book and deleted the accounts, but when i go onto set up emails i click it, it just brings up the spinner thing for a second and goes away and does nothing what can i do!
Have setup Email on the Bold 9900 to access Yahoo Email. access to the Inbox is working fine. How do you access the other folders in the Yahoo account?
I have my incoming Yahoo mail filtered to different folders, so I have new mail in different folders, which at present I can't see on the Bold.
I cannot recall if my WiFi here ever worked since my network carrier here has a promo wherein I pay 50php for 1 day of internet usage. But then, I realized that we had WiFi here at home, well not always. But the main problem is, it doesn't work on my bb. It reads my WiFi router(linksys) but the WiFi icon doesn't turn white. it's always gray.
That's odd because when I'm scanning for networks and I connect, it always says "WiFi setup complete" But it doesn't show a check mark, it just shows a dash mark. I tried to look for a problem and when I go to services status, my Blackberry internet service is not connected. But I have an active profile of linksys.
