Jan 18, 2010What is bedside mode? Is there a way that when i charge the phone, the screen goes blank? Don't really want the clock on my screen. Also, it seems like only sometimes does my email icon on my phone get the little read dot that indicates a new email. Some times it does, some times it doesn't. Also, my fiance has a bold as well, and I tried to text her this morning. I went to compose SMS, but it going out as a BB messenger conversation instead.

I like the auto profile and LED off feature but I would like the screen to go off when I'm charging on the cradle at night. I'm a little paranoid of having the screen on all night every night when it is on bedside mode.

Jan 12, 2010I have the device set up for "Bedside Mode" when charging (sits in the OEM dock at night). I left the device "on" and placed in the dock. The keyboard light, screen all dim as they should and the "clock" displays on screen as well. Then after about 20 sec the keyboard buttons all turn on and the screen brightens up. A couple of sec's later they all dim back down. This process repeats itself over and over like the damn thing has a heartbeat or something! I don't recall this doing this the first two nights that I used the new dock/bedside mode.

Feb 15, 2010I put the phone in bedside mode then drop it in the cradle and when I wake up the clock is gone and the phone is frozen. It won't let you do anything not even shut it off, I have to do a battery pull.

However, when i manually go to the clock and turn on bedside mode it dims and after the preset time i have for the display to turn off it turns off. Is there a way to always keep the screen on while in bedside mode but not on a charging pod?

May 24, 2010I've just upgraded my Blackberry 9700 to firmware 5.0.0.593. I noticed the Auto Standby 2.4.1 utility that locks the keyboard after 30 seconds doesn't function anymore. An automatic keyboard lock is a very basic functionality for every phone and it would be good if it can be reinstated in a future firmware release. I'm now using Ultimate Lock but this can't be activated by the top-left lock button. I'm also a fan of the Bedside mode as it prevents the LED from blinking at night and switches profiles automatically when you put it in the charging pod. Is there a way to prevent the clock from being displayed while the phone is charging in bedside mode? I've already set "Dim Screen" to Yes but it still lights up the room.

Feb 23, 2010So earlier today before I went in to school I put my phone in bedside mode (so that the led would not blink (I use berrybuzz, which is very bright)) then locked the keyboard and put it in standby, for added security, before putting it in my book bag. After 2nd period I got my phone out and it was hot, as if it had been continuously downloading something or playing a video. The screen was dim but never turned off. The battery, which was at 100% only 1 or 2 hours earlier, was drained to 1 bar. I checked to see if any apps were running, with no luck, and then pulled the battery out and left it out until about an hour ago or so. The phone is fine now, but I don't know what happened.

Jun 13, 2010I have recently noticed a disturbing situation with my BB Bold 9700. I can set the audio profile to Silent (like when I am in the movie or theater) but when people with specific ringtones call, the phone still has the audible ring.
I have tried all the tips I have found on this site and other sites. However, nothing seems to work. It only happens with people who have custom ring tones set.

Apr 13, 2010I'm new to BlackBerry and have been stymied by a problem that I can't find an answer to. When I have my BB in my pocket, the wiggling of the trackpad instantly silences the ring when someone calls. Since I got my Bold 9700 a couple of weeks ago, I think I've missed more calls than I've received and it took me a while to figure out what is going on.
Is there a way to disable the "any button press or trackpad wiggle silences the ring" feature? I'd rather not use the holster - I got the new small BB so it would fit in my front pocket.

Whilst in the holster they only ring once so missing loads of calls and when you pull the device from the holster it is not locked and the settings are telling me it should be. Checked all settings and they are correct. Running V5.0.0.586 (PLATFORM 5.1.0.146).

Jan 21, 2010My BB 9700 doesn't catch the first 4-5 rings of an incoming call. It's so bad that incoming Google Voice calls go straight to Google voicemail. If I call myself, I hear 4-5 rings on the calling side before the BB begins to ring. I've changed the ringer settings from vibrate but this seems to do little.
Before this phone I had a Sony Ericcson k850 that had the same problem. Before that I had the SE k550i that did NOT have any problem. If I take that old phone and put my sim card in it now, it still has no ring lag.
So I believe it has something to do with the phone settings within the phone, though this BB is the first phone I bought that came from AT&T (branded probably). Can I change some setting for the phone to ping the towers more often? I don't see anything for slot cycle on the phone...

Then last night when i went into bedside mode the clock went out after a short while, Previously, it stayted on all night as intended. I have gone to options in clock and have tried the both dim yes and dim no. I am at a loss for what to do next.

The "Play Sound: Always" for selected contacts should override any and all profiles set. When my BB is in its charging cradle and in bedside mode at night (set to auto dim) it is still too bright (according to my wife). To-Do alarm rings only once. Any time I miss a To-Do alarm there is no way that it reminds me again that I missed it until I check my Calender. There should be something like repeatedly ringing every 5 minutes till we respond.

Jan 3, 2010I like the bedside mode. Recharges and gives me an alarm clock as a bonus! But, since I upgraded to the official Verizon 4.7.1.61 version it only works sometimes. It goes to the clock face and dims when I insert the Blackberry in the stand but most of the time it is on the home screen in the morning. Also, sometimes the settings I have given for the bedside (no alarms) have been reset to normal when I leave the bedside mode and sometimes they are not.
